Back in 2018, Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively joined hands to work on Paul Feig and Jessica Sharzer’s A Simple Favor, and looking at their interactions during the press tour implied they might not be seen together once again. But this didn’t turn out to be true, as the pair reunited for the screens to star in the sequel, Another Simple Favor.
Released earlier this year, this comedy-thriller was filled to the brim with a star-studded cast. And yet, it ended up being doomed and critically bombed despite featuring more biting one-liners and a picturesque setting. But wait, there’s more: The twist ending of this sequel has actually given Lively an excuse to join Kendrick for a third flick!
Spoiler Alert !!!Major 'Another Simple Favor' Spoilers Ahead! Another Simple Favor twist ending sets up a potential threequel Blake Lively, Michele Morone, and Anna Kendrick in Another Simple Favor.

The Hollywood Insider – 'Another Simple Favor'
'A Simple Favor' Returns
But this time, with more wild twists, over-the-top fashion, and a duo that somehow keeps you hooked — even when the plot loses its footing.
Blake Lively doesn't just re-enter the scene — she owns it. Dressed in a pinstriped ensemble that screams “runway meets prison yard,” her character Emily Nelson strolls back into Stephanie Smothers' life like no time (or prison sentence) has passed. It's the kind of entrance you expect from a sequel to 'A Simple Favor', which in 2018 defied genre expectations by mixing camp, couture, and cold-blooded crime.
Now, 'Another Simple Favor', which premiered at SXSW and started streaming on Prime Video May 1st, doubles down on the absurdity.

However, every friend has something or the other they disagree on, often ending up in arguments over it. Well, so do Michele Morrone and Ryan Reynolds. So, what is the difference in opinion that got the Italian actor so worked up that he got in a fight with Deadpool himself? It’s a lot more hilarious than you think.

Kjersti Flaa earlier shared in a video about an interview with Blake Lively, claiming that it almost made her quit her job. Flaa has since doubled down on her take about the star, almost making it her mission to expose Lively. During her most recent video, Flaa tried to prove that Lively allegedly took over the creative in her recent film, Another Simple Favor.
Flaa brought with her a THR interview with the film’s co-writer Jessica Sharzer, which allegedly proved that Lively had more creative powers. Flaa pointed out how Sharzer unintentionally revealed how much influence the It Ends With Us star had on the set of the Paul Feig film.

Blake Lively is once again the target of an ostensibly organic hate campaign.
This time, however, the anger might be real.
Despite the legal war that Justin Baldoni is waging against her and her husband, this may be unrelated.
This “controversy” stems from incestuous scenes from her latest film, Another Simple Favor.

Fans of Paul Feig’s A Simple Favor love the film’s twisty narrative and the way it deftly blends thriller tropes with comedic overtones. The 2018 film left off with an ending that seemed to suggest there was more story to tell, and as it turns out, there is. The follow-up, Another Simple Favor, was announced way back in 2022, and fans have been eagerly anticipating it ever since. With the film finally available on Prime Video, subscribers have been watching the flick en masse, driving it all the way to the top of the charts. Not only is the film the most-watched feature on the platform, but it’s also the most-watched title overall, regardless of format.

Before A Simple Favor exits Netflix in May 2025, there’s one scene that stands out, defining the film’s psychological intricacy and noir charm. The 2018 dark-comedy thriller took viewers by surprise thanks to the brilliant performances, crazy plot twists, and gorgeous designer fits that seamlessly paired couture with scandalous suburban secrets.
Portrayed by Blake Lively, her character Emily Nelson is a glamorous PR director with a past deeper than her closet. Her husband, played by Henry Golding, is a calm Englishman who skipped over a few red flags. And then we have Anna Kendrick playing a single vlogger mom Emily meets at her son’s school. The two women bond over afternoon martinis and oversharing, which turns into a blossoming, unlikely friendship.

Another Simple Favor director Paul Feig has defended the film's star Blake Lively, calling her an "amazing collaborator." Lively reprises her role as Emily Nelson in the mystery blockbuster.
It has been a rough year for Lively, as she remains involved in a contentious legal battle with It Ends with Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. The legal case has reportedly had a major impact on Lively's personal life as well, allegedly driving a wedge between her and one-time friend Taylor Swift over speculation that Baldoni's lawyers could depose Swift.

Despite the ongoing controversy around Lively, Feig strongly defended her and hit out at "outrage" culture during a recent interview with Esquire.
"Blake is an amazing collaborator, so when I read people’s misconceptions about how movies are made, it’s just frustrating for me,” the filmmaker insisted.. “Every star I’ve worked with works this way.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Another Simple Favor.Another Simple Favor director Paul Feig explains why Charity was after Stephanie Smothers. During the sequel, Stephanie and Emily Nelson are reunited for a lavish, and seemingly unexpected, Italian wedding between Emily and Dante Versano. Amid more murders and another puzzling investigation, the movie reveals that Charity is alive. The presumably deceased McLanden triplet impersonates Emily and, while Another Simple Favor unravels, confronts and kisses Stephanie.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feig addressed the kiss between Charity and Stephanie, revealing that Kendrick and Lively were on board. He clarified that, since Charity was posing as Emily, she was leaning into and exploring that dynamic, and the resulting moment with Stephanie became “a very natural thing.” Read Feig’s comments below:

Just days after Another Simple Favor finally brought Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick back to Prime Video, the Paul Feig-directed sequel has claimed the top spot on the global movie chart. While the film has gained mixed reviews, the controversy surrounding its star has no doubt helped to give the movie a push, and following the success of any movie, questions turn to whether there is still enough fuel in the tank for another outing.
MovieWeb’s George Edelman recently caught up with Paul Feig to discuss the new release, and asked the director if he believes there is a chance that Kendrick’s Stephanie Smothers is likely to do Lively’s Emily Nelson yet another simple favor in the future? For Feig, it is certainly not out of the question.
“I mean, you know, they've evolved so much, the two characters, you know, especially Stephanie, who is in such a completely different place.

Blake Lively’s Smart Move With ‘Another Simple Favor’ Saved Her From ‘It Ends With Us’-Like Backlash
Blake Lively’s latest film, Another Simple Favor (now streaming on Prime Video), couldn’t be miles away from the emotional heaviness of her last role, It Ends With Us, which is no accident. During a recent late-night appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Lively revealed how the dark-comedy sequel offered a much-needed breather from the emotional weight of her other projects—and the criticism that followed.
“This year has been full of the highest highs and lowest lows of my life, Fear is by design… but I’m fortunate to have a voice.” she admitted, reffering to personal challenges without delving into details.

Director Paul Feig has expressed interest in revisiting A Simple Favor, hinting at a potential third film in the series. Following the success of the 2018 film and its recent sequel, Another Simple Favor, Feig shared his excitement about returning to the world of Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) and Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick).
In an interview, Feig stated that while he can’t make the decision alone, he has a clear idea of where the story could head next. “I definitely know where I want it to go,” he said, revealing his desire to take the characters on an even more “weird, international adventure.” This potential third film would explore new, more global locations, expanding on the series’ twisted dynamics.
The original A Simple Favor took place in a small Connecticut town, but Another Simple Favor shifted the setting to the picturesque island of Capri, where the complex relationship between Emily and Stephanie deepens.

A Simple Favor premiered to critical and commercial success in 2018, but the idea for a sequel didn't come right away. Another Simple Favor has just premiered on Prime Video, but the director revealed the original story.
The original film adapted Darcey Bell's novel of the same name, and it ended with Blake Lively's Emily Nelson going to prison for faking her disappearance and killing her twin. Another Simple Favor stepped up the twists and turns further, and nothing was off limits. However, in an interview with Cbr's Grae Drake, director Paul Feig revealed that the sequel could've been strikingly different.

In the whirlwind of the lawsuits and pubic accusations came Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick led Another Simple Favor, a sequel to the 2018 film, A Simple Favor, which explored the twisted relationship between Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson.
The sequel delivered a similar pace with new twists, but also some uncomfortable, arguably unnecessary plot points, leaving audiences divided over its value. However, one point of agreement may be Stephanie’s descent into an amateur detective, perhaps the most grating since Mabel in Only Murders in the Building.

Stephanie Smithers returns as an amateur detective in Another Simple Favor
Introduced as an overachieving mommy vlogger in A Simple Favor, Anna Kendrick’s Stephanie Smothers returns in the sequel as a full-blown true crime influencer with millions of followers and a book about exposing Emily Nelson’s schemes.

Major spoilers ahead for “Another Simple Favor”
Heading into “Another Simple Favor,” there was a pretty major question to consider: why would Stephanie Smothers ever agree to do another favor for Emily Nelson? And now that the film is out, the new question is: could it be Emily’s turn?
Now streaming on Prime Video, the sequel answers that first question pretty quickly. Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) agrees to be part of Emily Nelson’s (Blake Lively) post-prison wedding mostly because of a solid blackmail threat. When Emily crashes Stephanie’s book signing, she makes it clear that Stephanie’s refusal to come would result in not only exposing her secrets, but also suing her for using Emily’s name and likeness without explicit consent.
Lawsuits like that tend to be a real stoplight for books, particularly one that’s already struggling. And so, Stephanie jets off to Capri — literally...

“Another Simple Favor” is now streaming on Prime Video, and this time, the murder and mysteries take place in Italy. But where exactly in Italy are they?
The sequel reunites Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) five years after the events of the first film — which indeed came out seven years ago — with Emily fresh out of prison. She stayed busy while locked up though, securing herself a new fiancé. So, upon earning her freedom (thanks to said fiancé’s high-powered lawyers), Emily seeks out Stephanie and asks for another favor: stand up in the wedding as maid of honor.
Thanks to a few well-leveled threats from Emily, Stephanie agrees, and they jet off to Capri for the wedding. Why Capri? Well, Emily’s fiancé Dante Versano (Michele Morrone) is a wealthy Italian mobster. But if you’re wondering why director Paul Feig chose Capri, the answer...

Light spoilers ahead for “Another Simple Favor”
Paul Feig has no shortage of beloved films in his catalogue, but one thing those films have never had is a sequel. Now, with “Another Simple Favor,” the director has finally made his first — though he definitely “kept trying to chicken out on it.”
Now streaming on Prime Video, “Another Simple Favor” comes seven years after its predecessor “A Simple Favor” first hit theaters, and reunites stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively as Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson respectively, for another dark, comedic murder mystery. This time, the story goes international, bringing the women to Capri.
Given that the original film grossed nearly $100 million worldwide at the box office on a $20 million budget, you’d be forgiven for thinking that a sequel was inevitable, and being surprised it didn’t come sooner. But, according to Feig, crafting a follow-up was “challenging and terrifying,...

“Another Simple Favor” (2025) is a particularly twisted affair, and even the most devoted fans of the Emily-Stephanie saga would agree that it unfolds like a telenovela script. That’s a part of its appeal. It is campy and finds a wicked sense of fun in the same campiness. It shows Emily and Stephanie’s journey after what happened in “A Simple Favor.” Their friendship devolved from a casual infatuation to a full-blown meltdown that put Emily under a 20-year sentence. At the same time, Stephanie and her vlog became far more popular because of Emily’s disappearance. Stephanie got a chance to live as Emily while realizing Emily’s entire life was a ruse.
In the first movie, Emily is revealed to be Hope, who left her home with her twin sister Faith. Together, they burned down their house to kill their abusive father. Years later, Emily / Hope gets arrested...

With Another Simple Favor, director Paul Feig reunites the audience with Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson for another high-stakes mystery. This time set against the backdrop of Italy’s Capri, in a tale filled with murder, mistaken identity, and mafia entanglement. In this sequel, Stephanie’s transformation from mommy vlogger to crime-solving mastermind feels a bit familiar.
With every twist and turn, she gets closer to a millennial, Jessica Fletcher. But only less sharp, less believable, and far more chaotic. Whether she will solve the case or not, the question remains: is it really helping the storyline? Or, is it more comical?

Paul Feig’s first sequel is here, with “Another Simple Favor” now streaming. And while you’ll know the returners, there are some new faces in the cast this time around.
Now streaming on Prime Video, the film sees Emily Nelson released from prison, only to immediately seek out the woman who put her there to ask if she’d be her maid of honor. For reasons that are more based on threats than logic, Stephanie agrees.
We’re not going to spoil anything here, we’re just going to help you place who’s who in the cast.

Anna Kendrick returns as mommy blogger Stephanie Smothers, only now she’s a mommy blogger no more. After her first experience with Emily, Stephanie is now a published author, professional crime solver and definitely has more bite to her.

It’s been seven years since “A Simple Favor” hit theaters, but its sequel has arrived on Prime Video. And yes, you actually need to remember quite a bit from the first film.
“Another Simple Favor” reunites Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively), this time in the luxurious backdrops of Capri. Emily is fresh out of prison after five years, and she’s getting married to a mysterious Italian millionaire. Who else would she want as her maid of honor except Stephanie?
It same seem odd for Stephanie to go along with it, but trust us, it’ll make sense when you see it. The short version is: Emily always has effective threats. But we’re not here to spoil it all for you.

Seven years after Emily Nelson, aka Hope McLanden, was arrested for the murder of her father and her twin sister, Faith, in A Simple Favor, she is reunited with her ‘best friend,’ Stephanie, in the sequel. Starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, Another Simple Favor is all about the strange friendship Stephanie and Emily share. Two opposing personalities, but in some way, they were somewhat obsessed with one another. After exposing Emily to the world through her vlog, Stephanie penned her experience, but the novel didn’t become the breakout success that she thought it would be. But all of a sudden, one day, Emily walked into one of Stephanie’s book signing events, and she announced that she wanted her best friend to be her maid-of-honor and attend her wedding at Capri. Did Stephanie accept the proposal? Let’s find out.

Paul Feig has made a lot of successful movies, but until now, he’s never made a sequel. While there were no doubt potential sequels in the works for his ultra-successful comedies like Bridesmaids, The Heat, and Spy, for one reason or another, they never happened. However, that all changes this week when Another Simple Favor, the sequel to his hit comedic thriller, A Simple Favor, which hits Prime Video today.

Seven years after audiences were captivated by martini-fueled mystery and toxic friendship, the stylish saga continues. Another Simple Favor, the highly anticipated sequel, makes its streaming debut today on Amazon Prime Video. The 2018 original, directed by Paul Feig and starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, became a surprise hit and critical darling, praised for its sharp twists, dark humor, and the electric chemistry between its leads. Now, Feig and his leading ladies reunite, promising another cocktail of glamour, intrigue, and danger, this time served under the Italian sun. And with more humor and a style much closer to Knives Out.
The original film, based on the novel by Darcey Bell, grossed over $97 million worldwide on a modest $20 million budget. Its success, both in theaters and later on streaming, made a sequel likely. This week’s big streaming feature film release could be compared to the return of an unexpected Fall romance from several years ago, seven to be precise. This movie captured my heart, along with my critical sensibilities. when it seemed to appear seemingly out of nowhere, with little fanfare or hype. Yes, I was, and remain, a fan of the filmmaker and one of the lead actors, but this was a real step out of their “comfort zone” with an engaging murder mystery full of snark and satire, along with fabulous fashions. That movie, A Simple Favor, nabbed a spot on my top ten list of 2018. And now, almost everyone is back for a sequel, but is that magical spark still there? Will I have that same frothy fun and romance with Another Simple Favor? Or was the original “just one of those things, just one of those crazy flings…...

Well, he’s teamed up with A Simple Favor costars Blake Lively (It Ends with Us) and Anna Kendrick (Woman of the Hour) once again for the sequel, which is appropriately called Another Simple Favor.

We're less than 24 hours away from the premiere of Another Simple Favor, and ahead of the sequel's release on Prime Video, director Paul Feig has revealed what it was like behind the scenes with stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. Having been filmed after It Ends with Us, did all that baggage from the set of the Colleen Hoover adaptation come with Lively, or was she able to ditch it at the door? According to Feig, things couldn't have gone better.
Speaking with RadioTimes before the release of Another Simple Favor on May 1, 2025, Feig said that Lively and Kendrick were once again able to create "magic" on the set of his latest film, which serves as a sequel to 2018's A Simple Favor. Plot: Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick), who’s reinvented herself as an amateur investigator (as well as being a mommy blogger), is convinced by her old foe, Emily (Blake Lively), to attend her extravagant destination wedding in Capri.
Review: A Simple Favor was a surprisingly effective potboiler, anchored by two ace performances from Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. Plus, it had snappy direction from Paul Feig and a tight script that somehow managed to take some vast cliches and make them feel fresh. As such, the only thing surprising about a sequel being made is that Amazon’s opting to premiere this on streaming, despite Lively’s last movie making $300 million worldwide – controversy be damned.
While not as inspired as the original and more of a retread than expected, the gorgeous scenery (well-photographed by John Schwartzman) and an especially good turn by Lively make it worthwhile. Emily Nelson is surely the best role of her career,...

Emmy nominee Paul Feig has had no shortage of work over the past few years, between his John Cena and Awkwafina team-up Jackpot! at Prime Video, Netflix's starry The School for Good and Evil, and now Another Simple Favor, the sequel to his 2018 dark comedy thriller starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. However, one script from recent memory that ultimately went unmade is still on his mind — Dark Army. Announced back in 2019, the film would've pulled from Universal's roster of classic monsters and featured some of the Bridesmaids director's original creations in a tribute to older James Whale movies. Years of attempts to get the project off the ground didn't bear fruit for numerous reasons, though, and now he's speaking out about the film and what kept the ambitious project from marching forward.

Set to hit Prime Video on May 1, 2025, Another Simple Favor is Blake Lively's first movie to be released since last year's It Ends with Us, which sparked all kinds of drama behind the scenes between her and Justin Baldoni. While reports came out stating that Lively was worried that the bad publicity would put an end to her career, it seems she's recovered just fine based on the sequel's Rotten Tomatoes score, which is just two points away from matching that of the original.
Currently sitting at 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, Another Simple Favor is being called a sequel that "manages to defy your expectations" by Collider's Nate Richard, while Mae Abdulbaki from Screen Rant notes that returning director Paul Feig "has managed to make a fun, delightfully ridiculous film," though she admits that it doesn’t necessarily match the charm of the original. Ryan Scott from Slashfilm adds:...

Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal reunited for the buddy action film The Accountant 2, nine years after the release of the first installment. Although other cast members reprised their roles in the sequel, Anna Kendrick didn't return.
In the 2016 action film, Kendrick played Dana Cummings, an accountant working with Affleck's Christian Wolff. However, she was not back in the sequel, despite playing Christian's love interest. During an interview with The New York Times, franchise director Gavin O'Connor teased that the team is already thinking of The Accountant 3 and that Kendrick would be up to return.
Teasing about a possible third installment, Affleck highlighted that he's "just waiting for another great script."
Director Gavin O'Connor revealed that he and screenwriter Bill Dubuque also talked about the possibility and "have had some preliminary conversations. I am personally running from another puzzle movie, which we’ve done twice now."
