  • Returned a fumbled handoff between the New York Giants' Joe Pisarcik and Larry Csonka for a touchdown in the closing seconds on November 19, 1978 at Giants Stadium to give the Philadelphia Eagles a 19-17 win. The play is now known as the "Miracle at the Meadowlands."

  • Herm Edwards was an extremely popular head coach both with tri-state area fans and his players. Curtis Martin, Wayne Chrebet, and Chad Pennington have all gone on the record verbalizing their appreciation for him during his tenure with the New York Jets.
  • Inducted into the Monterey Peninsula College Lobo Hall of Fame in 1992 (inaugural class).
  • Inducted into the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Hall of Fame in 2017.
  • Had a memorable segment on SportsCenter (1979) in 2010 where he would dress up as "The Hermanator". He would assess whether struggling or mediocre NFL teams had a chance at making the playoffs. If he felt that the team would make the playoffs, he would say "They'll be baaack!". If he felt that the team would not qualify for the playoffs, he would say "Hasta la vista!".
