The New Group's just celebrated opening night ofBlack No More, featuring Leanne Antonio, Rhaamell Burke-Missouri, Elijah A. Carter, Jennifer Damiano, Brandon Victor Dixon, Ryan Fitzgerald, Gaelen Gilliland, Polanco Jones Jr., Zachary Daniel Jones, Tamika Lawrence, Sarah Meahl, Howard McGillin, Mary Page Nance, Oneika Phillips, Nicholas Ranauro, Malaiyka Reid, Mars Rucker, Angela M. Ephraim Sykes, the Tony-nominated actor of Broadway’s Ain’t Too Proud and Hamilton, will join Brandon Victor Dixon, Lillias White and Walter Bobbie in the world premiere Off Broadway musical Black No More in January.

Inspired by George S. Schuyler’s 1931 Afrofuturist novel set during the Harlem Renaissance, Black No More features music and lyrics by Tariq Trotter (also known as The Roots’ Black Thought), book by John Ridley (12 Years A Slave) and choreography by Bill T. Jones. Scott Elliott will direct.

The New Group production will play a strictly limited engagement at The Pershing Square Signature Center from Jan. 11-Feb. 27, 2022, with an opening night on Feb. 8.

Also in the cast are Trotter, Jennifer Damiano, Tamika Lawrence, Tracy Shayne and Theo Stockman. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. The production was ​​originally announced and slated for fall 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid pandemic shutdown.

Peter Scolari, the beloved actor who rose to fame starring with Tom Hanks in Bosom Buddies has died.

He was 66 years old.

Scolari died on Friday after a two-year battle with cancer, Variety has reported.

In addition to Bosom Buddies, Scolari also starred in Girls with Lena Dunham.

Playing Tad Horvath, Hannah's father, scored him an Emmy nomination and win for Guest Actor in a Comedy.

It wasn't an easy road to that deserved award, as he was only added to the Emmy Nominations List after Peter MacNicol was disqualified for appearing in too many episodes.

Scolari was also a featured member of the great ensemble cast on Newhart, where he starred as Michael Harris.

He joined Newhart in 1984 after guest-starring twice during the beginning of the series.

That role landed Scolari three Emmy nominations from 1987-1989.
