Michael Vick Says ‘Rigged’ System Let NFL Star Brett Favre Off In Welfare Fraud Scheme
Image
Ex-NFL quarterback Michael Vick has spoken out against Brett Favre, another retired pro player, whom the Mississippi Department of Human Services accused of misappropriating over $20 million in welfare dollars.

Favre has not been charged and has denied the allegations that he misused the millions of dollars intended to go to the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families anti-poverty program. Favre got Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant (R) to use $5 million to build a new volleyball stadium at the University of Southern Mississippi. At the time, Favre’s daughter was a student-athlete at the school.

Vick served 21 months in federal prison during his 2007 season with the Atlanta Falcons for his involvement in a Virginia-based dogfight ring. He now coaches at Norfolk State and has emphasized his dedication to teaching his players what he learned from his mistakes as a professional athlete on and off the field.

Untold: The Fall of Favre could rewrite Brett Favre’s legacy
Image
It is unsurprising that Brett Favre declined to participate in the Netflix documentary Untold: The Fall of Favre, which dropped on May 20.

The program's goal was seemingly to expose Brett Favre's shortcomings during and after his Hall of Fame career with the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings. Judging from the tone of the project, its inherent purpose may have been to bash Brett Favre by repeatedly questioning his choices and ethics.

There were no a-ha moments; however, the Netflix documentary struck an odd tone, especially at the beginning.

The lack of clarity hurt the Brett Favre documentary

The beginning of the 63-minute documentary was strange. Michael Vick appeared on screen and gave a generic commentary about the role of the NFL quarterback. He did not mention Favre by name, so viewers might not understand what Vick's appearance is supposed to add to the documentary.

YouTube Will Livestream NFL 2025 Season Game for Free, a First for the Video Giant
Image
More sports are crashing into the streaming arena: YouTube nabbed exclusive rights to an NFL game for the 2025 season, marking the first time the video platform will livestream an NFL game for free in its entirety. The deal builds on YouTube’s pact as the U.S. home for the NFL’s Sunday Ticket premium package.

YouTube will exclusively stream the NFL’s Friday night Week 1 game of the upcoming season from São Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 5, 2025, to most users globally on YouTube and YouTube TV. YouTube made the announcement ahead of its Brandcast upfront event Wednesday evening in New York.

In February, the NFL announced that it would reprise a Week 1 game at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil, kicking off the 2025 International Games with the Los Angeles Chargers as the designated team. The Chargers’ opponent will be announced on Wednesday, May 14, when the full 2025 NFL schedule is released at 8 p.

“Monster Hunter is down as well”: Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Dev Firing Back at Claims of Alleged Pre-Order Decline Over “Woke” Concerns Has Players Divided
Image
If you’ve forgotten already, the Kingdom Come: Deliverance game was bashed for its lack of diversity. The game’s director, Daniel Vávra, pushed back against these claims, stating that the open-world title was a historically accurate representation. Six years later, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was revealed with a promise that it would honor a range of ethnicities.

The sequel also includes some Lgtb scenes, which will lead to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 getting banned in Saudi Arabia. Many gamers aren’t happy about the title being inclusive and state that all these factors have led to a low pre-order number for the title. However, Vávra has gone all-out against such pointless claims.

Evolution of the Black Quarterback Review: Breaking Down Barriers on the Field and Beyond
Image
As football fans know well, the quarterback occupies a crucial role in the game’s unfolding drama. For decades though, the position rarely featured faces like yours or mine. Evolution of the Black Quarterback aims to bring that overlooked story to the fore, detailing the profound challenges Black athletes overcame just to play the sport at its highest levels.

Hosted by Michael Vick across three illuminating episodes, the docuseries transports viewers from NFL beginnings to the present day. We learn that even without overt discrimination, insidious biases denied opportunities for talent and grit equally matched any rival. Pioneers like Fritz Pollard and Marlin Briscoe showed the way, their success paving the road others could now follow in football as civil rights progressed elsewhere.

Figures from Tony Dungy to the newly emerging also lend voices. Together they remind that struggle and progress coincide, each small victory hard won and building to the next.

How Smac Entertainment Reinvented the Multi-Hyphenate Athlete
Image
Michael Strahan’s time in the spotlight might easily have ended when he walked away from the NFL in 2008. After all, it’s pretty hard to top a 15-year run with the New York Giants that landed him in seven Pro Bowls and culminated in a Super Bowl upset win over the New England Patriots.

“Your career is over when you’re still very young,” he says. “I was 36 when I retired!” But Strahan knew he had more to achieve.

As it turns out, Constance Schwartz-Morini, a razor-sharp alum of the NFL and talent agency The Firm, saw Strahan’s potential for greatness off the field. She’d tapped him to emcee a golf tournament in the ’90s, and they became lifelong friends. Under her guidance, Strahan revamped his brand and branched into TV, first becoming an analyst on “Fox NFL Sunday” and then landing the coveted hosting gig opposite...

The 30 Best Jokes and Craziest Moments From Tom Brady’s Netflix Roast, From Gronk Smashing Glasses to Gisele Divorce Puns

It was a long night for Tom Brady at his live Netflix comedy roast, as it was for the rest of us watching from home.

Starting with a bloody Oj Simpson jersey and ending with Brady smashing an iPhone on stage, the Netflix live event, “The Greatest Roast of All-Time: Tom Brady,” honored the seven-time Super Bowl champion. The modern-day legend faced his biggest challenge yet: being roasted by comedians and his former NFL teammates.

At times hilarious and at others a bit cringe-worthy, the unedited live event was a lengthy affair that made one truly appreciate the editors of the Comedy Central roasts. Their task was to condense the content into a concise, entertaining 60-minute presentation. Here, bits went on far too long, and former football players had glazed looks in their eyes in the background. The comedians who do this for a living performed incredibly well, while the others…...

Mark Wahlberg Joins ESPN’s ‘Manningcast’ As His ‘Invincible’ Philadelphia Eagles Take On The Kansas City Chiefs
Image
Exclusive: Mark Wahlberg is the latest Hollywood notable to be added to the guest list of ESPN’s Manningcast, the alternate Monday Night Football telecast hosted by Peyton and Eli Manning.

The actor and producer will appear tonight, with former NFL quarterback Michael Vick and Iowa basketball standout Caitlin Clark also on the docket. The game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs is a rematch of last February’s Super Bowl.

Although Wahlberg’s loyalty to the New England Patriots remains intact, one of his acting credits makes him a logical person to weigh in on tonight’s contest. In the 2006 film Invincible, Wahlberg portrayed Vincent Papale, a real-life figure from Eagles lore. Papale became a local sports legend after managing the unlikely feat of winning a chance to play for the Eagles after impressing coaches at an open tryout in 1976.

This is the third season of Omaha Productions’ Manningcast.

Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd Recall Bill Geddie’s Support During ‘View’ Controversies
Image
The View paid tribute today to the late Bill Geddie, the show’s co-creator with Barbara Walters and longtime executive producer who died July 20 of coronary issues.

In addition to clips featuring Geddie’s usually comic appearances on the show, View moderator Whoopi Goldberg and current and past panelists remembered their old boss with affection and candor.

“He was 68 years old, really cranky and really funny,” Goldberg said at the start of the segment.

Watch clips from the tribute below.

Both Goldberg and former co-host Sherri Shepherd recalled how Geddie offered words of support and encouragement during times of controversy and backlash.

For Shepherd, the controversy came early in her View tenure when, in 2007, she suggested she didn’t know if the earth was round or flat. “I’ve never thought about it.” Shepherd said at the time, but today said that after the episode, she told Geddie she knew...

The 10 Best Celebrity Guest Stars On Atlanta
Image
As FX's Atlanta has just ended its legendary four-season run, fans have begun to look back at moments from the series that will remain in the hearts of viewers. Among these moments is a plethora of surprise cameos that fit the show's nature perfectly and, at times, progressed episode storylines.

Considered one of the greatest shows ever made, the Donald Glover-created series utilized surrealism in a way that hadn't been seen before on its way to becoming a mainstay in pop culture. The guest appearances throughout the show's run went way beyond fan service, as they elevated the series and made their presence felt. Throughout its final season, fans have expressed how much the show will be missed, but Atlanta's rewatchability, humor, and social commentary will easily allow it to live on forever.

All the Best Celebrity Cameos in "Atlanta," From Brian McKnight to Katt Williams
Image

FX's "Atlanta" is known for throwing viewers a curveball or two, but the show's reputation for unpredictable twists is why many will miss it after it concludes its final season this fall. Over the course of four seasons, the critically acclaimed series has turned itself into must-see TV for its bold innovation and sharp comedy, but the show's surprise guest appearances every now and then have also become a fan-favorite trend.

Though some episodes of "Atlanta" have faked viewers out with teases of appearances from folks like D'Angelo and Tupac and even made big moments out of its signature characters like Donald Glover's Teddy Perkins, the actual stars who have been seen in the series are always a real treat. Even those who were originally slated to guest-star on "Atlanta" have been a surprise for viewers.

According to Glover, Jaden Smith was previously set to appear in an episode of "Atlanta,...

ESPN Criticized for Scrutiny of Black Athletes It Doesn’t Give Their White Counterparts
Image
ESPN shocked the basketball world late Wednesday night when its Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka was likely to face a lengthy suspension for having an intimate relationship with another team employee. The Athletic similarly confirmed that the affair was completely consensual, but because it involved a subordinate, it was a violation of the Celtics’ organizational policies and could likely result in a season-long suspension.

The story, which broke during the middle of the week when there is often a lull in the football news that’s the cabler’s greatest source of interest this time of year, dominated ESPN’s Thursday morning news coverage.

Still, many felt like the coverage of Udoka’s personal life has been excessive, especially considering the other, arguably larger stories of ethical lapses currently being discussed in the sports world. Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre...

‘Atlanta’ Review: Season 4 of Donald Glover’s FX Masterpiece Has Georgia on Its Mind
Image
Click here to read the full article.

“FX’s Atlanta is like a box of chocolates,” he wrote, considering the whitest imaginable lede for a review of FX’s Atlanta. “You never know what you’re gonna get.”

Going back to the self-named show from the grossly misbehaving comedian we don’t discuss anymore, the most intriguing part of the FX comedy brand has been half-hour shows with no discernible format and no singular tone. Your average episode of Pamela Adlon’s Better Things could sometimes be three serious vignettes or one cohesive and silly story, could focus on Adlon’s Sam or any of her daughters, could make you laugh or make you cry. Reservation Dogs is currently in the middle of a flawless second season of episodes that have ranged from rollicking road-trip installments to single-set meditations on grief.

None of these FX half-hours have exploited the possibilities...

How to Watch Live Sports Without Cable Online
Image
This story was created in paid partnership with Hulu.

When you can’t catch your favorite teams in person, the next best thing is to watch sports online from the comfort of your own couch — or wherever else you find yourself when the game is on. Online streaming services such as Hulu make it easy to watch baseball, basketball, golf, football, hockey, soccer, tennis and many other sports online without a cable subscription.

Even better: the streamer’s live TV package comes bundled with Disney+ and ESPN+, so you’ll also get award-winning original series, films, exclusive sports content and more on a single plan.

It’s worth noting that ESPN+ will be increasing its subscription price starting Aug. 23 from $7 per month (or $70 per year) to $10 monthly (or $100 annually), so the bundle is a great option if you want to lock in a discounted price for all three streamers.

Ryan Gosling Almost Guest Starred On Donald Glover’s FX Show ‘Atlanta’
Image
Actor Ryan Gosling was set to guest star on season three of Donald Glover’s FX show Atlanta, but plans fell through.

The show has always been guest star heavy with folks like Migos, KattWilliams, and Michael Vick appearing on the show but Gosling is an unexpected choice I’m sure not even fans didn’t see coming.

In an interview with People Magazine, Glover detailed how he approached the Oscar nominated actor, and the reason he couldn’t participate. “I was so bummed because the part was so great for him”, Glover said. “He said he was a big fan, but he had something else, and it just didn’t work out.”

It’s no surprise Gosling turned it down as the actor has a packed schedule. He’s set to star in upcoming films including The Gray Man, Wolfman, Barbie, and a few others.

Bill Maher Says Whoopi Goldberg Shouldn’t Be Suspended From ‘The View’ Over Holocaust Comments (Video)
Whoopi Goldberg
Plenty of people may have thought Whoopi Goldberg deserved the two-week suspension she received this week from ABC’s “The View” because of her recent erroneous comments about the holocaust. But on Friday’s “Real Time,” Bill Maher defended Goldberg and said the punishment was “insulting.”

Maher, who said he considers Goldberg a friend, mainly defended her on free speech grounds. But he also advanced the idea that it’s important to understand that Black people and white people in America have very different perspectives that can often be shocking, and that’s Ok.

So for those of you catching up, on Monday’s episode of “The View,” Goldberg said that the Holocaust “isn’t about race.” Now, she wasn’t denying that the Holocaust happened, nor did she deny that the Nazis first and foremost were targeting Jewish people. But, she did say, “It’s about man’s inhumanity to man.

Bill Maher Talks About ‘The View’ And CNN’s Jeff Zucker, Calls For Questioning Covid-19 Authority
Image
You are allowed to disagree, Bill Maher argued during his Friday Real Time on HBO. And he brought up two instances of news this week from the world of television to underline his point.

Maher talked about Whoopi Goldberg’s crisis and suspension from The View because of her analysis of what the Holocaust was really about. Maher, who has been targeted by Goldberg in the past, said he was not in favor of her cancellation, “as much as I disagree with her crazy statements.”

He pointed out Goldberg’s show is called The View, emphasis on “The.” That’s the problem in America,” he said. “There is one true opinion, and everyone else can go sit in the corner.”

He pointed out a time where Goldberg defended quarterback Michael Vick, who was suspended from football for his role in a dog fighting ring. Goldberg was a rare defender of Vick when that situation emerged,...

Stanley Nelson at an event for A Place of Our Own (2004)
‘Vick’ Review: Latest ’30 for 30′ Installment Shows the Difficulty of Considering a Life in Full
Stanley Nelson at an event for A Place of Our Own (2004)
“Redemption” is a tricky word. It’s one that comes up toward the end of “Vick” — Stanley Nelson’s two-part, four-hour “30 for 30” profile of former NFL quarterback Michael Vick — though it’s not brought up by its title subject.

In an attempt to provide a full accounting of Vick’s life and career, “Vick” stops short of full absolution or outright condemnation. With a person who’s still capable of inspiring equally passionate reactions — from those who argue for his superiority as a generationally influential football player, as well as those who say his role in a highly publicized dogfighting scandal should negate any athletic legacy — Nelson has made something that looks to address both as thoroughly as possible. It’s an admirable goal, but in this expansive project that winds between moments of insight and moments of redundancy, that pull between two opposite ideas doesn’t leave much room for anything else.

ESPN Marks ‘30 For 30’ Anniversary With New Slate; Michael Vick Story Gets Premiere Date – Update
Updated, 2:38 Pm: ESPN said today that Vick, the two-part 30 for 30 documentary about former NFL star Michael Vick, will premiere at 9 p.m. Thursday, January 30. The second installment will bow a week later, at 9 p.m. February 6.

Previously, October 28: The past decade for ESPN has been an eventful one, to put it mildly.

The Disney-owned sports powerhouse has broadcast some of the highest-rated games in its history, re-upped with the NBA and NFL, launched new networks and entered the streaming race. But it has also coped with industrywide pay-tv subscriber declines, management changes and intense scrutiny of its relationships with league partners and the political views of its talent.

Over that stretch, arguably ESPN’s biggest creative triumph has been its 30 for 30 franchise, which is marking its 10th anniversary this month. Crowned by the Oscar-winning breakthrough of O.J.: Made in America in 2016, the banner has been attached to more than 100 feature films,...
