"We found the selection of films this year to be of a very high standard. Our short list contained films which all presented deep ethical and particularly moral challenges. Our final winner was not only a powerful morality play, it was thrillingly told, with excellent craft, and also presented an exotic milieu with a modern urgency. It also features a towering performance for a mature actor, said the jury in their statement."

Dealing with life, love and loss the winning film has moved the entire jury. The director's original use of perspective puts the viewer directly in the blind spot of the protagonist. Painful yet sincere, the alternation of hope and tragedy becomes tangible through natural acting and a loose style of filming. Combined, this brings the pungent and current subject matter grippingly close. As the Dutch film critics jury we strongly believe that, with the support of NCP Holland, the film deserves a place in Dutch theatres.

A familiar gangster story, but one told with an explosive energy. From the actors' performances to the technical details, everything in this film is of the highest standard. The director shows an outstanding control of the films' tempo and his material.
