NBCUniversal is gearing up for its NBA coverage when it begins its long-term rights deal with the league this fall, tapping sports broadcaster Maria Taylor as lead studio host for both the NBA and WNBA.

Taylor will host NBC Sports’ NBA studio shows on Sunday and Tuesday nights alongside analysts Carmelo Anthony and Vince Carter on NBC and Peacock. Along with the studio gig, Taylor will also host select WNBA games on NBC and Peacock in 2026, according to NBC.com.

The NBA on NBC and Peacock will spotlight national coverage of regional doubleheaders on Tuesday nights beginning in October. After Sunday Night Football coverage concludes in Jan. 2026, NBC Sports will launch Sunday Night Basketball across NBC and Peacock on Feb. 1. NBC Sports will regain rights to the NBA when the new season tips off later this year. Taylor will host NBC’s studio shows on Sundays and Tuesdays, joined by analysts Carmelo Anthony and Vince Carter. She will also host select WNBA games beginning in 2026.

Exclusive: 20th Television has closed a first-look deal with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions to develop and executive produce scripted comedy, drama, adult animation and limited series for linear networks and streamers with an emphasis on content for Disney Entertainment Television platforms.

Omaha already is doing that with Chad Powers, the upcoming 20th TV comedy series starring Glen Powell for Hulu, which the company is producing. The first-look pact with 20th TV, part of Disney TV Studios, expands on that collaboration as well as Manning’s larger relationship with The Disney Company. Omaha has a first-look deal with ESPN for sports-related content. Chad Powers originated as a sketch produced by NFL Films and Omaha that ran on ESPN+ as part of the Eli’s Places series.

Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions has reached a multiyear podcast and video deal with Mush Media, the content company co-founded by Sal Iacono (best known as “Cousin Sal”).

Under the deal, all seven of Mush Media’s podcasts — including Iacono’s Against All Odds and Extra Points shows — will live under Omaha’s lineup of original audio shows. Omaha will produce video versions of the podcasts to be published on ESPN’s YouTube channel, and ESPN will retain the distribution and ad sales rights to the Mush podcasts, similarly to other shows in the Omaha Audio Network.

Forrest Compton, who played Col. Edward Gray on Gomer Pyle: Usmc and had a long run on the daytime soap opera The Edge of Night, has died of complications from the coronavirus. He was 94.

Compton died Sunday, according to a report in the Shelter Island Reporter.

As Col. Gray, Compton regularly chewed out Frank Sutton's Sgt. Vince Carter on Gomer Pyle, which aired on CBS from 1964 to '69. This, of course, often came after Sutton had abused his favorite private, Gomer (Jim Nabors).

28 years after the first House Party movie hit theaters, New Line is returning to the franchise with a new House Party movie from NBA superstar LeBron James. While no director is attached at this time, LeBron James will produce with his SpringHill Entertainment partner, Maverick Carter, with the duo setting Atlanta writers Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori to write the screenplay. Here's what LeBron James had to say in a statement, stressing that this project is not a full reboot.
