Motion picture agent vet Spencer Baumgarten died peacefully at his home Monday evening, Deadline has learned. He was 62.

Baumgarten’s cause of death, we hear, was due to complications from leukemia (Aml).

Known as a fierce advocate for his clients for over three decades, Baumgarten’s clients throughout his career included Jon Favreau, Gore Verbinski, Rodrigo Bernardo, Heather McGowan, Steve Conrad and many others.

Baumgarten began his career in the entertainment business in 1988 as an assistant to Joe Rosenberg, thereafter spending time at Endeavor, CAA and ICM. He joined ICM Partners in 2016 and left in September 2019 as Motion Picture Co-Head and Partner to form Smb Entertainment, a management and production company. At ICM, Baumgarten was involved with the teams for such clients as John Woo, Roberto Orci, actress Jingchu Zhang, and filmmaker Joseph Kahn, among others.

Exclusive: Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich Asians) and Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale) have signed on to star alongside Zhang Jingchu, Michelle Krusiec and more in Impossible Dream Entertainment’s comedy Tiger Mom, which has entered production in Vancouver.

Zhang leads the U.S. & China co-produced film as Marilyn Khu, a first-generation Chinese-American mother who, unable to control her teenage children, enrolls them in a prestigious disciplinary school called Tiger Academy — run by the no-nonsense Suki Lai (Krusiec) —which is capable of whipping them into Ivy League shape. While Jeong will play Jimmy Khu, a work obsessed husband and father whose parenting style is decidedly out of touch, details as to Munro’s role haven’t been disclosed. Additional cast members set include Alexa Loo (Chad), William Budijanto (Resident Alien), Chloe Pun (Kung Fu), Neil Garguilo (Bloodsucking Bastards) and Nathalie Boltt (District 9).

Exclusive: Deadline has learned that ICM Motion Picture Co-Head & Partner Spencer Baumgarten is exiting the agency after three years.

There are no plans to immediately fill the vacancy, as Baumgarten was one of three co-heads of the Motion Picture Lit division, a department which Harley Copen and Doug MacLaren continue to lead. There’s no word yet on where Baumgarten will land. He has been at ICM since November 2016.

Prior to ICM, Baumgarten was at CAA for 12 years where he repped such clients as Jon Favreau, Neil Burger and Gore Verbinski. At ICM, Baumgarten was involved with the teams for such clients as John Woo, Robert Orci, actress Jingchu Zhang, and filmmaker Joseph Kahn, among others.

After a six-month break forced by a serious horse-riding injury, Andy Lau is back with the treasure-hunt action drama The Adventurers, set to release in China on August 11. Exclusive: Hong Kong-based sales agent has picked up latest action thriller from Ringo Lam, starring Daniel Wu and Zhang Jingchu.

Hong Kong-based Distribution Workshop has picked up international rights to Ringo Lam’s latest action thriller, Sky On Fire, starring Daniel Wu.

Currently in post-production, the film also stars Joseph Chang Hsiao-chuan, Zhang Jingchu and Amber Kuo. Chang also starred in Lam’s last film, hit action thriller Wild City, which marked his return to directing after a seven-year hiatus.

Wu recently starred in Us TV series Into The Badlands, which AMC has renewed for a second season set to air in 2017.

Produced by Skyman Development, Sky On Fire tells the story of a security guard (Wu) who becomes embroiled in a battle to protect stem cell research, which can potentially cure cancer, from falling into the wrong hands.

The film is currently in post-production and is scheduled for release in China on November 25, 2016.

Beijing-based Wanda Pictures is launching sales on two big-budget productions in Cannes – Leste Chen’s $20m Battle Of Memories and Pan An Zi’s $14m For A Few Bullets.

A follow-up to Chen’s 2014 psychological thriller The Great Hypnotist, Battle Of Memories tells the story of a famous novelist who recovers from a painful divorce by having a decade of his memory wiped. But when he tries to recover the lost memories, he finds himself in the mind of a serial killer.

Paramount Pictures has released 3 featurettes, 2 new clips, 6 TV spots and a look at the Vienna premiere for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, with just seven days left until this action movie hits theaters on July 31. The first clip features a closer look at one of the scenes we've seen in practically every trailer, the daring E-brake maneuver pulled off by Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt, while a frantic Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) loses his cool in the passenger seat. Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation didn't have any presence at this weekend's Comic-Con, with Paramount opting to sit this year out. But they have deployed a neat tactic, by releasing a cool 40 second TV spot on the last day of the Con, just so you don't forget that the movie is coming out at the end of this month. Following the three Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation TV spots released earlier this week, Paramount Pictures has debuted two new clips featuring a pair of epic chase sequences. Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, who is seen alongside tech specialist Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) in one of the scenes, which we've seen part of in the trailer, where Ethan takes out a pair of gun-toting motorcyclists with a simple e-brake maneuver. The second clip shows Ethan on a motorcycle of his own, weaving through highway traffic while trying to dodge more nefarious pursuers.

Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt learns why the Syndicate has been so hard to find in the first of three new TV spots from Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. The video reveals that the Syndicate is comprised of Imf agents who were already thought to be dead, along with more footage of Tom Cruise hanging off a moving plane, in what may be his most daring stunt yet. Each new TV spot and trailer we see features the actor/daredevil hanging off the plane at a higher altitude then the next, but it remains to be seen how high up Ethan Hunt gets before actually "boarding" the plane.

The trailer comes just a few days after production wrapped on the sequel, which gives director Christopher McQuarrie just over three months to complete post-production before it hits theaters on July 31. The action-thriller was originally set to hit theaters this Christmas, before Paramount pushed the release to July 31 earlier this year. Now, don't get too excited! Something is happening tomorrow, this Sunday March 22nd, in regards to Mission: Impossible 5. But we'd don't know what that will be just yet, or just how big this reveal will be. Are they releasing a trailer? Possibly. Official photos? Maybe. The title? That sounds about right.

Stars Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg have spent the day teasing this big announcement on their personal Twitter pages. Joining in on the fun are director Christopher McQuarrie, the official Mission: Impossible 5 Twitter account, and Skydance productions. They make it clear that the fuse has been lit, and something will definitely be let out of the bag tomorrow.

Mission: Impossible 5 wrapped just 10 short days ago. And that is definitely enough time for Christopher McQuarrie to have cut together a teaser trailer. In a recent Q&A, he confirmed that a title and photos were also on the way very soon.

Director Christopher McQuarrie has confirmed that production has wrapped on the upcoming fifth film in the "Mission: Impossible" film franchise.

Shooting on the action-oriented sequel kicked off seven months ago, and there remains less than five months to go before the film's release on July 31st. The wrap comes after production shut down for a week to prep for the film's elaborate ending.

Seven months after principal photography began, director Christopher McQuarrie announced on his Twitter page today that production has wrapped on Mission: Impossible 5. The action-packed sequel, which brings back Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames, was previously set for a Christmas Day release, but was bumped to a July 31 release back in January, giving the filmmaker less than five months to complete post-production. Christopher McQuarrie revealed during a Twitter Q&A session last weekend that the first trailer will be coming soon, although he didn't give a specific date.

No official plot details have surfaced yet, but the director also indicated during the Q&A that the full title will also be announced soon, most likely with the trailer's debut. The previously-mentioned cast members are joined by Mission: Impossible newcomers Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, America Olivo, Sean Harris and Jingchu Zhang. One...
