Is God Is has landed an early summer release date from Orion Pictures, a division of Amazon MGM Studios.

Playwright Aleshea Harris is directing the big screen adaptation of her acclaimed, award-winning stage play of the same name will open in cinemas May 15, 2026. That’s just around the time of the Cannes Film Festival, although there’s no word yet as to whether the movie will make an awards play, although Orion is known as a home for prestige fare.

Amazon MGM’s Orion label is positioning Aleshea Harris’ feature debut, Is God Is, for a 2026 theatrical launch, aligning the revenge drama with the studio’s expanded big-screen slate next year.

The film adapts Harris’ Obie-winning play about twin sisters sent by their mother to kill the father who scarred their family, and follows a year of renewed theatrical commitments from the studio, which told exhibitors it plans 14 releases in 2026 and screened early footage at CinemaCon.

Cast includes Kara Young and Mallori Johnson as the sisters, with Sterling K. Brown, Vivica A. Fox and Janelle Monáe in key roles; cameras were rolling by late 2024 under Harris, who also wrote the screenplay. Tom Brady, 47, and Sofia Vergara, 53, have been spotted together in Ibiza, Spain, sparking “summer romance” rumors.

The reports started a week ago when Brady and Vergara boarded the Luminara Superyacht among many other A-Listers including Martha Stewart, Naomi Campbell, Kendall Jenner, Kate Hudson and Colman Domingo for a two-night luxury voyage. “Six Till Midnight” will mark the film acting debut for Poarch, the Filipino-American platinum-selling singer-songwriter and one of the top TikTok creators with more than 125 million followers and 2 billion music streams. Now the rapper — whose real name is Ricky Hawk — has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

On January 21, 2021, police discovered Rooks, 34, lying on a road in Panthersville, southeast of Atlanta, at about 3:30 a.m.

They later discovered surveillance footage that showed Silento fleeing the scene in a white BMW.

The rapper was promptly taken into custody and denied parole. He eventually pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm.

In the two years leading up to Rooks’ murder, Silento was arrested on at least four other occasions.

Netflix unveiled the first footage for the third Knives Out film, Wake Up Dead Man, during its live Tudum event Saturday. Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner and more amped up the crowd with t-shirt guns. While various stars also appeared to introduce the footage, including an f-bomb wielding Glenn Close via video and Daniel Craig showing up in person. The first look was both dramatic and theatrical, delivered with filmmaker Rian Johnson’s trademark flair.

Rian Johnson's Benoit Blanc mystery series, which began in 2019 with the film Knives Out and continued in 2022 with Glass Onion, has proven to be a fresh and modern take on the whodunit genre of mystery films. The filmmaker has carved out a space for himself in movies and television with introspective, delightful, and brilliantly cast mysteries, as showcased in Poker Face Season 2, which is currently airing its second season. Now, a new teaser has been released for the third Knives Out mystery movie, titled Wake Up Dead Man, and the brief new look at the film is as ominous as its title.

The teaser, which can be viewed below, is only 12 seconds in length and features no dialogue or music. Instead, the footage focuses on a church and a graveyard. The tolling of a church bell can also be heard, getting increasingly louder before the teaser cuts to black.

With the 2025 Sloan Film Summit just around the corner, we want to look back at some of our favorite films that have been supported in the past by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. These films are dramas, science fictions, biopics and big budget blockbusters. Yes, they all have science, math, technology, economics or engineering at their core, and this list goes to show just how much storytelling juice you can get out of those topics.

The films on this list show how universal stories about the sciences can be. We all care about nature, we all look up at the stars and wonder and we all love solving a good puzzle. And that’s what the sciences are all about. Both art and science help you understand the world better, just in different ways, and these films prove what you can do when they come together.

The lineup for the 2025 iteration of Seattle’s Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival has been announced, led by headliners Weezer (performing The Blue Album in its entirety), Bright Eyes, Janelle Monáe, Car Seat Headrest, and Sylvan Esso.

The two-day festival will go down in Seattle over Labor Day Weekend, on August 30th and 31st. Filling out the lineup will be performances by Aurora, Digable Planets, The Budos Band, Tennis, Indigo De Souza, Saba, Tank and the Bangas, The Linda Lindas, Real Estate, Scowl, Murder City Devils, Spellling, and others. Thom Browne tailored a starry group for Monday night’s Met Gala.

Many of those A-list guests gathered for a group portrait in their custom looks by the American luxury designer as the Thom Browne class portrait has become something of an annual tradition at New York’s Pierre Hotel. Posing in their Monday best were stars of Hollywood, sports, music and fashion including Demi Moore, newly minted Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña, Janelle Monáe, Whoopi Goldberg, Paul Tazewell, Severance star Tramell Tillman, Anok Yai, Walton Goggins, WNBA breakout Angel Reese, Lorde and Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl champ Saquon Barkley.

This year’s Met Gala went down with a theme of “Tailored for You,” a nice fit for Browne whose modern take on classic suiting has made him a celebrity magnet over the years. “For me, everything begins and ends with tailoring,” Browne told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement on Tuesday.

The Met Gala isn’t just about the world’s starriest red carpet. After posing for the cameras, those same stars mingle during the event itself and move on to the string of afterparties that follow.

The co-chairs for the 2025 gala are Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as an honorary chair.

Williams revealed that Wintour asked him to be a co-chair while they were eating breakfast at the Ritz.

“It was nice. I’m grateful to her for providing this platform for that special color Black. That American color Black,” he told Variety.

When asked about his fashion icons, he said, “The working class. The Black men of the working class. They do the hard work, but then when it’s time to get fresh they get dandy and super fine. I’m inspired by the working class because that’s where I come from.”

This year’s event coincides with the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

The dress code, Tailored for You, is inspired by the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting.

LeBron James will not be making his debut at the 2025 Met Gala despite being the event’s honorary chair.

The Lakers star took to social media to address why he won’t appear on the red carpet at the Superfine: Tailoring Black Style exhibition.

“Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on!” James posted on X, the microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter.

He continued, “Hate to miss an historical event! My beautiful powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done!”

Although James won’t be at the event, his wife, Savannah, will be there in representation.

The 2025 All Things Go Music Festival has finally announced its electrifying lineup for its Columbia, Maryland area, held from Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28. Hurry Up Tomorrow is not that. Sure, the latest album from Canadian mega-star The Weeknd – aka Abel Tesfaye – is also called Hurry Up Tomorrow. So this week AMC Networks plans to gather its brand marketing partners and clients, and in an unusual twist its distribution partners (think pay-tv companies and other platforms that distribute AMC Networks content), in what it is describing as an “immersive” showcase for its programming.

“We can’t be so assumptive that everyone watches all of our shows, so it’s up to us to really bring them to life and at least ensure that everyone there wants to [watch] when they leave,” AMC Networks chief commercial officer Kim Kelleher tells The Hollywood Reporter in an interview, adding that the company is widening the aperture of who the audience is for an upfront in order to acknowledge the complex nature of content distribution and advertising today.
