ABC News Studios and the CBC have picked up the U.S. rights to Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery, director Ally Pankiw’s feature documentary about Sarah McLachlan’s 1990s all-female music festival.

On the heels of a world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, Canada’s CBC network, which also backed the project, will air the indie doc on Sept. 17 as part of its The Passionate Eye series. Then, in the U.S., Hulu and Disney+ will stream the title from Sept. 21.

The film will also stream on Disney+ internationally later this year and will coincide with McLachlan launching her first studio album of new music in over a decade, Better Broken, on Sept. 19 and a Canadian concert tour.

Andrea Gibson, a celebrated poet and performance artist who through their verse explored gender identity, politics and their 4-year battle with terminal ovarian cancer, died Monday at age 49.

Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, is ready to run into theaters this fall.

Writer-director Scott Cooper’s biopic focusing on the legendary musician known as the Boss is set for theatrical release Oct. 24 from 20th Century Studios, giving it a prime slot amid awards season. Jeremy Strong co-stars as Jon Landau, Springsteen’s manager and record producer.

Also set for release on Oct. 24 are the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel Regretting You, Mortal Kombat 2 and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.

Deliver Me From Nowhere focuses on the making of Springsteen’s 1982 spare and deeply personal Nebraska, one of the most acclaimed albums of all time. A contestant on The Voice named Lucia Flores-Wiseman put a jazzy twist on the Soundgarden classic “Black Hole Sun” on Monday night (May 12th), eliciting a polarizing reaction from viewers.

Flores-Wiseman sang the first couple lines of the song a capella in a very stylized vocal reminiscent of Amy Winehouse or Billie Holiday. She continued singing the iconic grunge tune as a minimal string section kicked in, and eventually belted out the song over a heavier orchestral arrangement.

She received praise from her coach, Adam Levine, as well as another Voice coach, Kelsea Ballerini, who called Flores-Wiseman “a star.” However, the commentary on the official YouTube post of her performance is quite divided.

One person wrote, “Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I can’t understand a single word she’s singing. Like she’s good, don’t get me wrong, but she kind of sounds like she’s singing in cursive?...

The 2025 Tribeca Festival has announced more programming for this year’s event, including premieres of two more visual albums, joining the debut of Miley Cyrus’ Something Beautiful visual album, and the New York premieres of Sundance award winners Twinless and Come See Me in the Good Light.

The festival will host the international premiere of Slick Rick’s Victory visual album, directed by Meji Alabi, with appearances by Idris Elba, Nas and Giggs. Slick Rick will participate in a live conversation after the premiere. And Tribeca will world premiere a visual album from Baltimore hardcore band Turnstile, followed by a conversation with the band. The 50-minute Turnstile: Never Enough was directed by frontman Brendan Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory.

Additionally the festival will host the world premiere of Dead Language, a full-length feature adaptation of the Oscar-nominated short film Aya from Mihal Brezis and Oded Binnun, starring Sarah Adler and Ulrich Thomsen.

The season 13 Finals of the hit Fox singing competition series aired on Wednesday night (May 7).

The show, which began in South Korea, features celebrities singing songs while wearing costumes and face masks concealing their identities until they’re eliminated. Throughout the season, the contestants provide clues to try and help the judges and fans figure out who is under the mask.

This season includes the new costumed character Detective Lucky Duck, who will help panelists “uncover who’s behind each mask.”

During the episode, Top Four contestants Boogie Woogie, Mad Scientist Monster, Pearl, and Coral hit the stage for another performance.

While on stage, Pearl performed “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” by KT Tunstall.

The Masked Singer is back!

The Semi-Finals of season 13 of the hit Fox singing competition series aired on Wednesday night (April 30).

The show, which began in South Korea, features celebrities singing songs while wearing costumes and face masks concealing their identities until they’re eliminated. Throughout the season, the contestants provide clues to try and help the judges and fans figure out who is under the mask.

This season includes the new costumed character Detective Lucky Duck, who will help panelists “uncover who’s behind each mask.”

During the episode, Top Four contestants Boogie Woogie, Mad Scientist Monster, Pearl, and Coral hit the stage for another performance.

While on stage, Pearl performed “You Don’t Own Me” by Lesley Gore.

Soundgarden are one of nine new additions to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, and founding guitarist Kim Thayil feels that the late Chris Cornell would “definitely be stoked” about their imminent induction.

In a new interview with Billboard, the guitarist and songwriter expressed plenty of gratitude towards the Rock Hall and the band’s fans for recognizing their impact after all these years. According to Thayil, Cornell would be just as proud. “He’s the one who convinced me how appreciative the fans and our peers and the Soundgarden community — that includes the people that we work with and work for us — would be about it,” said Thayil.

“He realized how important that was, and he understood that would be important to us because it’s important to people who cared about us and helped us and supported us all along. That’s how I believe Chris would respond to this.

Veeps, the live-streaming platform co-founded by Joel and Benji Madden and owned by Live Nation, has expanded its business to include narrative films, with the indie motherhood dramedy “Nora” among the first available titles.

Following a theatrical release by Suncatcher Productions and Blonde Dog Productions, “Nora” will make its global streaming debut via Veeps on Saturday, May 24.

Pearl made her debut on the March 5 episode of The Masked Singer Season 13 as a member of Group B. The sultry sea jewel's first song on Fox's reality TV show was "Saving All My Love for You" and she had the four panelists guessing such famous names as Regina King, Shania Twain, and Joan Jett.

The following weeks, Pearl delivered performances of "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" and "Here You Come Again," prompting the judges to add Madonna, Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow, Trisha Yearwood, Kellie Pickler, and Carrie Underwood to their list of potential A-listers. The message of Halestorm’s latest single, a moody power ballad titled “Darkness Always Wins,” essentially reminds you that evil never dies. The chorus starts off positively enough — “We’re all fighters, holding up our lighters/Chasing off the monsters, drowning in our sins” — but then Hale hits you with the ugly truth: “With every last breath, try to stop the sunset/Running with the shadows,...

Halestorm have unleashed a new song titled “Darkness Always Wins.” The single offers the first taste of the band’s as-yet-untitled new album, set for release later this year.

“Darkness Always Wins” features Lzzy Hale’s powerhouse vocals on full display, with the song reminiscent of an ’80s power ballad. In fact, there are lyrical nods to the era (intentional or not), with such lines as “running with the shadows” (Pat Benatar) and “fading into black” (Metallica).

Around the 2:30 mark, things get heavier, as Joe Hottinger’s guitar kicks in, followed by a primal scream from Lzzy shortly thereafter.

“‘Darkness Always Wins’ is not a song of hope, nor is it a song of despair,” stated Lzzy of the single. “It is reality. History repeating. Evil prevails and the good depart first. But we are not doomed as long as we persist and keep our fires burning.
