Horror Short Stop: The Gate & Night of the Little Dead
Almost daily, we're hit with e-mails pointing us to various short films. Some are good. Some are bad. The Horror Short Stop will point you only to the cream of the crop. And today, two floated our way that we thought were worth sharing. First, Quiet Earth premiered The Gate by Matt Westrup. No introduction, just watch it . Trust us, you'll probably dig it. Night of the Little Dead is a hammy lil' horror-comedy by director Frank Ippolito and Ezekiel Zabrowski. Set in a quiet Midwestern fishing town at Sadie's Grub 'n Grub, the local watering hole and baitshop, the mood changes once a couple of tourists run in covered in blood. Not easily spooked, the locals set out to find whatever caused this horrific accident, only to find themselves caught up in a terrifying lil'...

For the opening night event on Oct. 13, Spooky Movie proves its international flair with the over-the-top Japanese zombie gorefest and action flick Helldriver, directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura, which will have two screenings, one for the early birds at 7:00 p.m. and one for the late-night crowd at 10:00 p.m.

Pint sized terror comes alive in "Night of the Little Dead"
"It's the little things that getcha."

Pint sized terror comes alive to munch on the flesh of a cast of familiar faces, including Penn Jillette (Penn & Teller), Bill Moseley (Babysitter Wanted), Adam Savage (Mythbusters) and Martin Klebba (Feast II & III), in Night of the Little Dead. A terrifyingly funny horror comedy that offers a refreshing new take on zombies. Night of the Little Dead proves that sometimes good things come in small packages.

Helping to turn the zombie sub-genre on its head by reducing the size of everyone's favorite anti-hero is former Face Off contestant Frank Ippolito who co-directs alongside Ezekiel Zabrowski. Night of the Little Dead (2011)
It's Not the Movies That are Getting Smaller... It's the Zombies
Night of the Little Dead (2011)
I can't think of a little person zombie movie.  It seems like one of those obvious things that should have happened by now.  Well, here it is.  Night of the Little Dead is - appropriately - a short film about a little zombie hunting yokels at a bait shop.  Martin Klebba (Pirates of the Caribbean) stars as the titular monster, along side Adam Savage (Mythbusters), Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects), and magician Penn Jillette.  The project is co-directed by Frank Ippolito, better known for his makeup work on films like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Chronicles of Riddick, and Ezekiel Zabrowski, whose other shorts include Dracula's Daughters vs. the Space Brains and Spider Mountain: No...

Exclusive Night of the Little Dead Behind-the-Scenes Photos; Trailers Debut
This morning "Face/Off" reality television star and filmmaker/FX maestro Frank Ippolito chatted up his horror short Night of the Little Dead on Kroq’s "Kevin and Bean" radio show, so we thought it high time to bring you the first look at two new trailers for the film as well as a handful of exclusive monster-centric stills of the titular creature.

Shot during our set visit (read it here) this past January, the photos below were snapped as actor Martin Klebba underwent the process of being transformed into the film's diminutive antagonist (as designed by Charlie Chiodo).

Co-directed by Ippolito and Ezekiel Zabrowski, Night of the Little Dead stars Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Adam Savage (of the series "Mythbusters"), comedian Penn Jillette, James Hurley, Erica Taylor, Gary Morgan, Aye Jaye, and the previously mentioned Klebba and revolves around a group of rural unfortunates who find themselves...

'Night of the Little Dead': A Zombie Comedy With Little People?
Filed under: Trailers and Clips, Movie News, Horror, Cinematical

Once zombies lumbered into the popular culture, there was no stopping them. Movies and other forms of entertainment have explored how legions of zombie children, zombie sheep and zombie plants would munch our flesh, but what about little people? A new short film (har har) directed by Ezekiel Zabrowski and Frank Ippolito, 'Night of the Little Dead,' may have the answer. They've released a behind-the-scenes trailer to whet our appetite for brains and teensy zombies. As Zabrowski and Ippolito say, "It's the little things that getcha."

From what we can gather in the teaser video and Dread Central, who recently spoke with the Notld crew, the story goes something like this. Two guys from Chicago head to a small Wisconsin town on a fishing trip. Penn Jillette plays the surly big-city guy and Adam Savage ('MythBusters') is his quiet pal.

Behind-the-Scenes Clip from Night of the Little Dead
On the heels of coverage stemming from our set visit (read it here) to the short flick "Night of the Little Dead" and just prior to giving you an exclusive peek at the titular monster (stay tuned!), we thought we’d share with you this behind-the-scenes clip produced by Peter Podgursky.

Co-directed by filmmaker, FX artist and "Face Off" reality series celebrity Frank Ippolito and Ezekiel Zabrowski, "Night of the Little Dead" stars Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Adam Savage (of the series "Mythbusters"), comedian Penn Jillette, James Hurley, Erica Taylor, Gary Morgan, Aye Jaye and actor Martin Klebba (Feast II/III and "The Cape") in the titular role - a handful of whom you’ll see chatting about the flick in the video below.

Ippolito describes the plot as follows: “It takes place in a little bar/diner/bait shop kind of thing in a small Wisconsin fishing town.

Exclusive: Dread Visits the Set of Night of the Little Dead
Cinema has spent much time exploring ways in which to protect the ol’ noggin from unwanted noshing by the undead, but what of the more vertically challenged zombie? Dare we ask what body parts they may prefer? Co-directed by Frank Ippolito and Ezekiel Zabrowski, the currently in post-production ‘short’ film (pun intended) Night of the Little Dead intends to answer that question, and Dread hit the Sun Valley, CA set this past January 18th to find out.

“A couple of years ago, Charlie Chiodo and I were talking about ridiculous concepts for things, like Snakes On A Plane, and we started talking about midget zombies, and I said, ‘Night of the Little Dead!’” Ippolito told us from the makeup trailer of the film’s inception. “Charlie thought it was an awesome idea, so we started coming up with rough story ideas.”

Co-written by Chiodo and Zabrowski, Ippolito (who helmed with...

2010 Spooky Movie Film Festival: Official Lineup
For the fifth year in a row, October gets a little creepier and scarier when the Spooky Movie Film Festival rolls into the Washington, D.C. area on Oct. 21-25 for six terrifying nights of of feature films and shorts.

Every year, Spooky Movie redefines the very definition of “horror” by presenting an absolutely unique selection films from all over the world. This year the bloody offerings range from backwoods horror comedies to documentaries to Norwegian and British zombie flicks to Australian monster movies and more.

Most exciting, however, is the return of the father of the splatter movie himself: Herschell Gordon Lewis, who will be screening his latest gore extravaganza, the diabolical The Uh-Oh Show!. This is Lewis’ first gross-out flick in seven years and is an unholy combination of blood, social satire and fairy tales. Bad Lit’s seen it and thinks it’s a real hoot and a holler.
