Everyone gaffes, we all know that, but some are simply more gifted at it than others. Mitt Romney and Joe Biden are two of those gifted people.
So if you're the unfortunately gaffe-prone, how do you combat the daily news cycle that pummels each and every misstep? Simple: you get them out all at once. Cue comedian Rob Lathan and Jest with our new, new favorite Mitt Romney impression.

VH1′s Big Morning Buzz Live welcomed multi-talented actor, comedian, and impregnator Nick Cannon to their set, with one very important goal in mind: Torture the poor guy. Which is exactly what host Carrie Keagan and our multi-talented staff did, in a segment called “Big Morning Buzz’s Got Talent!” We forced the very dear (and seriously handsome, those arms) America’s Got Talent host to withstand some of our most revered local talents, including Dan (who is kinda good albeit slow at stacking cups), Cole (who can bark exactly like a dog), comedian Rob Lathan (on stilts), and actor Greg Grunberg (whose talent is a surprise). It’s hard to pinpoint the exact moment Nick Cannon decides this is the worst thing he’s ever endured. I personally think it’s somewhere around the 3rd or 4th dog bark. In any case, those of you who ever wished to see Nick Cannon suffer,...

Here’s a brief glimpse into the life of single-dad comedian Eddie Decker (Rob Lathan) whose desire to do standup slightly conflicts with his obligation to take care of his newborn daughter. The result? Baby Standup. I basically just aww-laughed at the baby’s face for three minutes. I should probably get one of those, I’d be constantly amused (long-term plan!) Also, I realize the standup jokes are intentionally funny-bad for the purposes of the character, but I think I laughed at every one of them – I’m not an accurate barometer of good things, if you haven’t noticed yet.

Are you generous? Do you like to laugh? Does this make you cry? Of course it does. Well good news. On August 29, at 7:00pm, you can combat all of these problems at “Friends with a Benefit,” a one-night-only comedy and music extravaganza at New York City’s Town Hall, which will help raise money for the American Bird Conservancy, helping the poor birds devastated by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Let’s not sneeze at the line-up: Rachel Maddow (host, MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show) in conversation with Ira Glass (host, Ipr’s This American Life) and featuring comedians: Mike Birbiglia Eugene Mirman Rob Lathan Jamie Kilstein Livia Scott Ann Carr Stephanie March Oh, and also Michelle Collins. Yes, this is my official Town Hall debut, and I will probably wear a dress of equal or greater elegance to pay my respects. Music by: Lucy Wainwright Roche,...

The Ecny Awards, celebrating the best of the comedic performing arts in New York, were presented Monday night, March 8, at the city's Comix comedy club. Fifteen awards were given out, in categories ranging from best male standup comedian to outstanding achievement in the field of tweeting. For the third year in a row, Jon Friedman ("The Rejection Show," "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon") hosted the show. "It's weird to choose a winner in comedy," Friedman said before the ceremony, comparing the Ecny Awards with the previous night's Academy Awards. "Comedy is so subjective, and any comic can simply have an off night on any given night. Or, as a comic, you can connect with certain people and not at all with others, no matter what day or night it is. Whereas with a film—say, for best picture—that film is exactly the same every time it's shown."Among the...

Fast-forward to a month from now: You're sitting on the subway on a brisk January morning, and notice something strange. Why is the businessman next to you removing his pants? You look up: A pair of teenage girls stand by the doors sans skinny jeans. And the 70-year-old woman pushing through the crowd has no outerwear covering her derriere. Most likely, these folks won't be the only ones without leggings. The lunacy is part of Improv Everywhere's annual No Pants! Subway Ride. It's just one of the hundred or so worldwide "missions" (as they're cheekily termed) that the group's founder Charlie Todd describes as "scenes of chaos and joy in public places." The group came into being shortly after he moved to New York. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Todd was taking classes at Upright Citizens Brigade and living the life of a bored out-of-work actor.

The Buggles proclaimed that video has killed the radio star, but rock DJ Warren Orlando has already cheated death, thanks to Andrew Harrison, star and creator of the new web series Polyester Dreams. The indie comedy series tracks the trials and tribulations of Warren Orlando, a prog rock DJ at radio station Wxla, who follows the rock and roll creed of self-loathing and manic depression in his own way. His misfortunes in life, from his Academy Award winning ex-girlfriend humiliating him in the media to reading half-assed commercial bits, are interwoven with homemade music videos, playing “forgotten” songs mainly from the 60s and 70s. Other cast members in Polyester Dreams include Satu Rautaharju (appeared on HBO’s Flight of the Concords), improv comedian Rob Lathan (The Colbert Report, Human Giant ) and Dallas Coyle from the metal band God Forbid. Two episodes are currently out, with six more coming in the first season.
