Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra Producer Teases Setting And Villains In Captain America/Black Panther Video Game
Image
Skydance and Marvel Games' Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is a World War II-set adventure revolving around newly created versions of Captain America and Black Panther.

The title, overseen by the Uncharted franchise's Amy Hennig, could be the most cinematic superhero video game to date. The reveal trailer which dropped earlier this year pointed to that being the case, though we are still waiting to see some gameplay footage.

Ahead of the game's planned 2025 release, Entertainment Weekly caught up with Hennig who said, "It led us to do a bunch of interesting things, one of which was to not only tell a story with a young Steve Rogers who's still trying to find his feet, as opposed to the more seasoned guy that we've seen in a lot of the films. It also let us introduce a new Black Panther of 1943."

"It led us to tap into all the things that I love,...

“You’re not going to believe how good it looks”: The Walking Dead’s Khary Payton Quashes 1 Rumor about Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
Image
Well, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is definitely on the way and is set to change Marvel’s bad luck in games other than the Spider-Man brand. The game is being developed by Skydance New Media and is inspired by the 2010 comic book limited series Captain America/Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers.

In addition to its interesting story, the game will offer a movie-like graphical experience with Unreal Engine 5. Some even believe that the shared in-game scenes are not real. Fortunately, we have a statement from an actor who is part of the game’s cast, debunking these rumors.

How Netflix's The Gentlemen Fits Into Guy Richie's Movie Universe
Image
The Gentlemen series is a different beast from the film, but still captures Ritchie's tone and ambition. The series focuses on a noble family's involvement in the marijuana industry, with a different cast of characters. While the two projects share some similarities, they take different trajectories with distinct lead characters and storylines.

Ever since it was announced Guy Ritchie's 2019 destined-cult-favorite The Gentlemen would be receiving a TV series adaptation, fans have been wondering just what form it would take. Sequel? Prequel? Is Matthew McConaughey going to be in it? How about Hugh Grant or Michelle Dockery?

Pretty much no to all of those questions. But, there are other questions to ask. Does The Gentlemen show Ritchie's ever-increasing ambition (just look at his 2023)? Totally. Is it as entertaining as the film? Pretty much, it's just different. But...how different is the series? Are any of the film's characters in the series?...

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra: Captain America Goes Face to Face With Black Panther in a New Footage And It Will Blow Your Mind
Image
Skydance New Media’s World War II Marvel game has finally got a title: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. Not only that, it has also got a release window and a first trailer. The game is based on the Marvel superhero characters, Captain America, Black Panther, and two other characters.

The characters of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

Skydance and Marvel Games announced the game back in 2021 (via Deadline) and officially teased in 2022 (via Game Informer). The trailer of the game is rather promising as it sees Captain America and Black Panther in a face-off. This is not the first time the two characters have shared the screen in the Marvel Universe, but this is certainly the first time that they will come together like this.

Theo James
Theo James will lead Netflix‘s series adaptation of the Guy Ritchie movie The Gentlemen. This news comes after the actor just made his White Lotus debut in the October 30 Season 2 premiere. The TV series is an adaptation of the 2019 film of the same name that starred Charlie Hunnam, Matthew McConaughey, Michelle Dockery, Colin Ferrell, Jeremy Strong, Lyne Renée, Henry Golding, Hugh Grant, and more. The Gentlemen series reportedly begins production in London next week, per Deadline. Additional cast will be announced at a later date. James will play Eddie Halstead in the Miramax TV-produced series. Straight-laced Eddie has just inherited his father’s sizable estate when he discovers it’s sitting on top of a weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson. Freeform is bringing another popular series to an end, but this one is getting a final season.

The cabler on Monday picked up Motherland: Fort Salem Season 3, but with the caveat that it would be the final season of the witchy military drama.

“We’re excited to bring Motherland: Fort Salem back for a third season,” Freeform president Tara Duncan said.

“I am grateful to Eliot and the entire Motherland team. They have created a truly immersive mythology that has resonated with fans since day one, and I know this last chapter will continue to deliver.”

News of the end date announcement comes less than a week after the cancellation of Everything's Gonna Be Okay, which got the boot after two seasons.

The Bold Type wrapped earlier this year with a pre-planned final season.

Shows still in limbo on Freeform are Grown-ish and Good Trouble, which have both experienced significant erosion this season,...

Freeform has picked up second seasons of “Everything’s Gonna Be Okay” and “Motherland: Fort Salem,” the network announced Tuesday.

“We couldn’t be happier to bring both ‘Everything’s Gonna Be Okay’ and ‘Motherland: Fort Salem’ back for second seasons. Each show’s originality, characters and themes struck a chord with our audience, and we’re excited to share the ambitious stories the writers have planned for season two,” said Lauren Corrao, Freeform’s executive vice president of original programming and development. “We have a strong slate ahead, and with our young adult audience...

Freeform Renews ‘Everything’s Gonna Be Okay’ & ‘Motherland: Fort Salem’ As ‘Grown-ish’, ‘Good Trouble’ & ‘Cruel Summer’ Move To 2021
Image
Freeform has plotted out its original programming plans for the next 12 months with second-season renewals for Everything’s Gonna Be Okay and Motherland: Fort Salem and the move of grown-ish, Good Trouble and Cruel Summer to next year.

The news, released ahead next week’s Disney Advertising Sales Virtual Roadshow presentation, comes as the network looks to get out in front of the Covid-19 production shutdown, which impacted a number of its originals, including the three series pushed to next year. In a video message to fans (watch it below the story), Good Trouble stars Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez explain how production on Season 3 of The Fosters spinoff was suspended over the pandemic and it won’t be ready for a summer 2020 launch as originally planned.

We’re already all in for Freeform‘s Motherland: Fort Salem, a TV show set in an alternate world in which witches have been fighting for the United States for 300 years. The network has ordered the speculative fiction show to series.

The first (and hopefully not only) season of Motherland: Fort Salem will be 10 episodes, with Eliot Laurence (Claws) acting as creator and showrunner. In this world, witches ended their notorious persecution by striking a deal with the U.S. government: if the persecutions stop, witches will serve as a U.S. military force. Here’s hoping the show deals with that particular theme critically. The series will be executive produced by Laurence, Kevin Messick, Will Ferrell, and Adam McKay.

Why the Witches in ‘Motherland: Fort Salem’ Will Never Use the Word ‘Magic’
The central conceit of Freeform’s “Motherland: Fort Salem” is that it exists in an alternate version of the United States where witches and magic both exist, but according to series creator Eliot Laurence, you’ll never hear the word “magic” on the show.

“I wanted to have this be fantasy through a science fictional lens,” Laurence said at the Television Critics Association press tour on Friday. “So I wanted all the magic to be based in kind of real stuff.”

The show is set in an alternate, present-day America where witches ended their persecution 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the burgeoning U.S. government to fight for their country in a specialized branch of the military. It centers on three young women from basic training in combat magic into terrifying and thrilling early deployment.

Blu-ray Review: Cinemax Shows ‘Banshee,’ ‘Strike Back’ Get Season Sets
Chicago – The creative impetus behind Cinemax shows “Banshee” & “Strike Back,” which just saw their first and second seasons released on Blu-ray, respectively, is clear — dirtier, nastier, more violent versions of shows you already know and love. “Banshee” has echoes of “Sons of Anarchy” in its power struggle in a small town saga while “Strike Back” is not unlike “The Unit” or “24” with no restrictions on violence on nudity. “Banshee” is the superior show by some margin but fans of both programs will be happy with their home releases.

Being original programs of a network owned by the current kings of TV on Blu-ray (HBO owns Cinemax) means that the season sets for these two shows are both excellently designed, filled with special features and including gorgeous transfers. As far as the shows go, “Banshee” is the superior of the two, headlined by two strong performances (Antony Starr & Ulrich Thomsen) and...

Exclusive: Sullivan Stapleton Looks Forward to ‘Growing Up’ on Strike Back (Video)
When it comes sex, guns and explosions, Sullivan Stapleton (upcoming 300: Rise of an Empire) does it all as Sgt. Damien Scott on Strike Back.

In this interview, Stapleton discusses Scott “growing up” in the new season. When we first met Scott, he slept with just about any woman he met – including one who later tried to blow him up. Then in season 2, things changed when Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) went off the rails. Scott became the voice of reason. He also found a Ptsd soul mate in Rebecca (Lyne Renee). Unfortunately, that relationship was short lived. Now, Stapleton suggests that Scott may become a woman guy – but that doesn’t mean less sex.

Strike Back: Stonebridge & Scott Face Their Internal Demons in Cinemax’s Soldier’s Story
“All revolutions have their martyrs.” – Knox (Charles Dance, Game of Thrones)

In the past six episodes of Strike Back’s second season on Cinemax, the series has shifted beyond a mere action tale. This isn’t the Expendables 2, filled with glitzy action and enough one-liners to make your head explode.

Strike Back is a soldier’s story. Terrorist threats are no longer Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) and Scott’s (Sullivan Stapleton) sole motivation. Now, they’re going up against their internal demons. Season 2 is a deeper, more personal saga.

In Episode 2.5, Scott made a connection with Rebecca (Lyne Renee), which was as physical as it was psychological. As aggressive as Rebecca was in bed, Scott recognized that she was someone who had “given up” – much like he had done before coming to Section 20. These were two soldiers, working in the field and dealing with Ptsd in their own way.

Scott lost Curtis,...
