French Actor Ludivine Sagnier Welcomes Shooting Stars on Stage at Berlinale Palast
Image
French actor Ludivine Sagnier, best known for “Swimming Pool” and “8 Women,” welcomed the European Shooting Stars – 10 up-and-coming European actors – on stage at the Berlinale Palast Monday.

Sagnier was one of the jury members that selected the Shooting Stars, alongside Romanian director Radu Muntean, Swiss producer Amel Soudani, Swedish casting director Pauline Hansson and journalist Vuk Perović from Montenegro.

The Shooting Stars award ceremony, held during the Berlin Film Festival, is the festive highlight and closing event of an intensive four-day program where the actors meet international casting directors and are presented to the international press. German actor Thelma Buabeng introduced the actors to the Berlinale Palast audience.

The Shooting Stars had earlier been greeted on the red carpet by Berlin festival director Tricia Tuttle and Claudia Roth, Germany’s federal government commissioner for culture and the media, in what is likely to be her final official engagement in that...

Lexy Kolker in Freaks (2018)
First Trailer for German Superpowers Film 'Freaks - You're One of Us'
Lexy Kolker in Freaks (2018)
"You're not the only one. We're one big family." Netflix has debuted an official trailer for a German comedy titled Freaks - You're One of Us, a film about ordinary people who discover they have special powers. What an original concept. Not to be confused with the other Freaks film, this one comes from Deutschland. What if for your entire life you had superpowers you weren’t aware of? Tipped by a mysterious tramp, a meek fry cook (or "young working class mom") discovers she has superpowers — and uncovers an unsavory, widespread conspiracy. Others also have powers that have been suppressed by a medication. But why? The film stars Cornelia Gröschel as Wendy, Wotan Wilke Möhring as Marek, and Tim Oliver Schultz as Elmar; Nina Kunzendorf, Frederic Linkemann, Finnlay Berger, Gisa Flake, Ralph Herforth, and Thelma Buabeng. This looks as painfully cheesy and as derivative as they come, nothing really to see here.

Four young girlfriends head out to the Canadian woods for some downtime. But downtime turns to terror time when they discover a pile of intestines and a pair of severed feet dangling from a tree. The friends begin to realise humans are the preferred prey and that they are being hunted. Armed with bows and arrows,...
