Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend is a movie written and directed by Robert Moresco, starring Frank Grillo and Mira Sorvino.

A standard biopic that, true enough, revitalizes an era, but does not give us much more than a glimpse of the 50’s and 60’s Italy.

Frank Grillo does, though, offer us a very good portrayal in a role that fits him like a glove.

Ferruccio Lamborghini start was in tractor manufacturing. Once World War II started, he turned to the manufacture of military vehicles, which ultimately led him to become the designer of the high end Lamborghini cars. The company took another turn in 1963 dedicating its capacities to the manufacture of sports cars Automobili Lamborghini.

The cars are the stars in “Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend,” a pamphletized biopic that does the easy thing — beautifying Italy and vintage automobiles — but stalls with everything involving humans.

Starring Frank Grillo as the titular engineer and carmaker in middle age, writer-director Bobby Moresco’s admiring portrait is a gauzy, stuffy showroom piece that romanticizes everything from piazzas and vineyards to factory floors and car engines but never gets out of first gear in dramatizing a dreamer’s achievement or — when it came to upsetting the dominance of Ferrari in the auto world — a competitor’s drive.

The latter element is tritely illustrated by the recurring use of an imagined nighttime drag race in which Grillo, behind the wheel of his character’s famous ‘70s Countach design, squares off on a lonely road against Ferrari (Gabriel Byrne) in one of his ‘80s-era models. But no matter how many...

Netflix officially pulled the plug on Fate: The Winx Saga after two seasons earlier this week.

However, the franchise may not be dead yet.

Winx franchise creator Iginio Straffi revealed this week that the Netflix cancellation "is for a bigger reason."

“Fate has been an exciting adventure, a great achievement, and a hit watched by millions globally, re-confirming the power of the Winx world,” Straffi shared on Instagram.

“I am working on many exciting Winx projects in the near future, some of which I take so much joy in sharing with you.”

One of those projects is a "brand new CG Winx animated series reboot," which is set to go into production soon.

The creator promises the show will "sweep you back to the Winx world."

If that wasn't enough Winx goodness, Straffi said that a "big budget Winx movie" is in the works.

The latest show to fall victim to the service’s brutal cancellation decisions is Fate: The Winx Saga.

Netflix released the series in 2021, hoping it would be another huge cultural hit in a similar way to Stranger Things and Bridgerton.

Despite receiving enough streams to send it to the top of the charts in several countries around the world, Netflix was unable to see a future for the series.

Showrunner Brian Young announced the news, writing on Instagram: “This is not fun news to share, but Netflix [has] decided not to move forward with season three of Fate: The Winx Saga. This is especially tough because I know how many of you loved this season. It’s a heartbreaking silver lining, but a silver lining all the same.”

He added: “It’s been an amazing four years.

For better or worse, Hollywood's nostalgia-mining tendencies come for us all. For fans of the Nickelodeon animated series "Winx Club," this was both a blessing and a curse: when the Netflix adaptation "Fate: The Winx Saga" arrived in 2021, it brought the beloved faeries back to screens. But while the series had that magic supernatural twist, its group of high schoolers had relatable insecurities and struggles with growing up and finding who you are.

Fate: The Winx Saga is Netflix’s latest foray into magical adolescence and season one is a six-hour introduction to the fairy boarding school Alfea, and the magical Otherworld. The series introduces us to a powerful fairy, Bloom (Abigail Cowen), who was raised in the human world completely unaware of her own magic or the larger magical community. She comes to Alfea to learn to control her power and to discover who she is.

We follow Bloom’s journey of self-discovery and self-empowerment as the requisite “chosen one”, and learn about this magical world through her eyes. As she discovers more about herself, she also uncovers secrets that could threaten Alfea and her safety within it. The season culminates in a coup of sorts, that sees Alfea’s leadership completely upended, which opens the door for really compelling storytelling in a follow-up season.

It’s the show that everyone is talking about, sitting pretty at the top of Netflix’s most popular this week. So needless to say we were thrilled to take part in the virtual junket, as we spoke to all leading cast-members. When I first heard they were making a live-action adaptation of Winx Club, I was thrilled. I fondly remember the early-2000s cartoon with its ridiculously fun fashions and core group of girls who will do anything for one another. Then I saw the casting of said group for Netflix's Fate: The Winx Saga, and my enthusiasm waned. Don't get me wrong; Abigail Cowen, Precious Mustapha, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Elisha Applebaum, and Eliot Salt are all talented actors who don't deserve the hate they've received from the community, but the whitewashing of the show is apparent and shouldn't have happened in the first place.
