Saw Gerrera's body was in dire shape near the end of his life, and Andor helps plant the seed for how he reached that point.
Following his Season 2 return, showrunner Tony Gilroy told Entertainment Weekly the ulterior purpose of Gererra deliberately breathing in rhydonium fumes, as it sets up the oxygen mask he requires during Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's events. "The Saw Gerrera thing in Rogue, he has the mask and he's huffing that thing all the time. And people always ask, 'What is that?' I'm like, 'I don't really f---ing know what it is! What is it?,'" Gilroy explained.
This foreshadowing element, he added, was drafted by writer Beau Willimon, with Saw's episodes also linking his tenuous bond to rebel leader Luthen Rael through the constant fuel-gathering operations. "What if Luthen gave him a chance to steal fuel, wherever it was? What a...

With season two of Star Wars: Visions coming in 2023, I wanted to look back at each short from season one and celebrate why they’re great. This is Visions Remembered.
The Ninth Jedi is actually incredibly hard for me to write about. Brought to us by Production Ig aka Studio I.G., the reason this was the hardest one for me to tackle is the fact that The Ninth Jedi is so good. It’s the most solid entry from Star Wars: Visions. There’s a reason why it’s universally thought to be the best of the group or at least in people’s top rankings. When things are this good, it’s hard to point out just one or two things that make it stand out. I could probably write a full-length essay on this episode. I’ll do my best to keep this somewhat short.

One of the most popular romantic comedy actors of the 2020s, Darren Barnet has been quite busy recently. The 33-year-old actor made his name playing the dashing Paxton Hall-Yoshida on the Netflix series "Never Have I Ever." Since then, he has seemingly maintained a close relationship with the behemoth streaming service, having been asked back for several projects since the previous series ended.
As of writing, his body of work has begun to break free of his not-so-modest rom-com beginnings -- though he still popped up in one of the most popular films of the genre released in the last decade. Moreover, he's also lent his voice to several animated series (targeted at kids and adults alike), cameoed in a high-profile remake of a classic '80s action drama, and even played a key supporting role in one of the few decent video game movies to ever make it to theaters.

Star Wars Rebels launched an exciting new chapter in the Star Wars saga, pushing forward the franchise's animated storytelling. Starting five years before Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Rebels told the story of the Spectres, a small group of rebels who would go on to become part of the larger Rebel Alliance. Taking place so close to the original Star Wars trilogy, the series was able to revisit several familiar characters from the early movies, as well as continuing the stories of several characters last seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Additionally, Rebels brought plenty of new faces -- with new voices -- into the galaxy far, far away.
At the heart of Rebels was a family of new heroes, voiced by newcomers to the Star Wars galaxy. Jedi survivor Kanan Jarrus was voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr., previously known for his work in the live-action Scooby Doo movies.

Saw Gerrera played a pivotal role in the liberation of Onderon from the Separatists during the Clone Wars. Forest Whitaker portrayed Saw Gerrera in live-action beginning with Rogue One, showing his extreme tactics as the leader of the Partisans. Saw Gerrera has appeared in various Star Wars media beyond animation and live-action, showcasing his legacy and impact on the galaxy during the Dark Times of the Empire's reign.
Saw Gerrera has become one of Star Wars' most iconic and darkly captivating characters in the interim period between the prequel and original trilogies. While he came to notoriety during the period known as the Dark Times, Saw Gerrera's origins became as early as the Clone Wars. Kozuki Oden is arguably one of the most inspirational characters in One Piece. Despite being the true Shogun of Wano, Oden rejects the position in order to keep his people safe. Although he later perishes, he ensures that all nine members of his retinue live to tell the tale. The Nine Red Scabbards is a title given to Wano Country's nine samurai who served Kozuki Oden. After the death of Kozuki Oden, they made it their goal to see to it that his dream was fulfilled.
All the Scabbards, also known as the Akazaya, are said to be exceptionally powerful, some even strong enough to fight on equal footing against the All-Stars of the Beasts Pirates. Led by Foxfire Kin'emon, the Scabbards aimed to take down Yonko Kaido and Kurozumi Orochi as members of the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai alliance. Here are all the Nine Red Scabbards ranked according to their strength.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch gives a unique perspective on the Star Wars universe. Taking place just after the rise of the Empire, it provides insight into the Empire's early cruelty before it was as bold as it later became. With this era as a setting, many properties are easily connected to it, including Star Wars Rebels and Andor, which occurs shortly afterward. And with characters introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars appearing constantly, there are ample crossovers between that series. But with cameos for many figures in the Star Wars universe, including Bail Organa (Phil Lamarr), Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), and Saw Gerrera (Andrew Kishino), the series connects to many non-animated installments of the franchise. But no connection is as significant as the explanation of Project Necromancer, which ties The Bad Batch to two recent Star Wars stories, The Mandalorian and, more importantly, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.

Netflix's "The Monkey King" falls short due to a poor script that lacks a dramatic center and fails to hook the audience. The film initially presents a clear motivation for the Monkey King's character, but fails to explore this emotional thread further. The lack of dramatic focus and disjointed plot make it difficult for viewers to care about the characters and their goals in the film.

The 16th century literary classic Journey to the West is the mother of all Chinese fantasy. The mythological saga has spawned countless adaptations in various media across Asia and beyond, from the cult late ‘70s Japanese TV series to Peking Opera, videogames, graphic novels and a stage spectacle with a score by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and design elements by Gorillaz illustrator Jamie Hewlett.
Prominent among the innumerable film versions is the 2013 blockbuster Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons, directed by Stephen Chow. A similar livewire action-comedy energy infuses Netflix’s The Monkey King, a children’s animated feature based on the sprawling novel’s most popular strand, on which Chow serves as executive producer.

Star Wars has always been a transmedia franchise, with many characters making the jump from animation to live-action - and some recast. In a transmedia franchise like Star Wars, it's quite common for characters to transition from one medium to another. This often requires recasting, usually for practical reasons; it would be too expensive for Lucasfilm to hire Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, for example.
It can work the other way round, of course, especially now animated Star Wars shows are inspiring new live-action Star Wars Disney+ TV shows. Tony Gilroy, showrunner on the latest Star Wars television series Andor, has revealed how long Stellan Skarsgård’s Luthen Rael has known the Rebel insurgent Saw Gerrera. Played by the Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker, Saw Gerrera’s character was first introduced in the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars series where he was voiced by Andrew Kishino. Prior to the rise of the Galactic Empire, Saw served as a guerrilla fighter from the planet of Onderon who was trained in military combat by none other than Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano. Saw would eventually make his live-action debut played by Whitaker in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, where it was revealed that his character had gone on to become the leader of the Partisans, an extremist Rebel cell known for their violent tactics.

"Beauty and the Beast" truly is a tale as old as time, and has been retold in countless ways, like the Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton TV series of the same name, the Fran Drescher comedy "The Beautician and the Beast," the teen rom-drama "Beastly," or even in an episode of "Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater." Recently, legendary Japanese filmmaker Mamoru Hosoda delivered "Belle," a magnificent animated sci-fi fantasy film that thrusts the tale out of the world of old and into the techno future.
The story takes place in the not-so-distant future where the internet has evolved into a legitimate virtual reality called U, where avatars are created by users' scanned biometric information. A teenager named Suzu creates an avatar named Belle who becomes a pop superstar, but everything changes when her virtual concert is interrupted by the seemingly undefeatable fighter The Dragon (or "The Beast"), who she quickly becomes infatuated with.

Surprising to some, Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have some commonalities. After all, the half-shell heroes were initially created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird as a parody of Frank Miller’s work on Daredevil, before coming to DC and turning his talents to The Dark Knight. Both properties work best in the shadows and had the producers of this animated adventure leaned into that, this could have been a cut above an obvious cash grab.
The participants have met before, in three miniseries from DC Comics and Idw in addition to one strictly set in their “Adventures” incarnations, aimed more at all-ages readers. Now, we have Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a briskly paced story. It’s not bad, but boy, it could have been so much more had anyone made an effort.

Saw Gerrera will reappear in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but where does the game fit in his story?

Electronic Arts unveiled the first look at the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gameplay this morning at their EA Play event. Star Wars fans have been waiting quite a while to get a look at the gameplay and the trailer does not disappoint with over 13 minutes of footage. The main character in the game is one of the surviving Jedi, Cal Kestis, after Order 66 and he is voiced by Gotham's Cameron Monaghan. At one point in the trailer, he comes into contact with Saw Gerrera, who is voiced by Forest Whitaker.

Something I’m enjoying seeing lately is animation catching up to the comic book realm when it comes to crossovers. In most instances, we’ve been forced to rely on the latter because it’s really been the only medium to get around red tape separating various franchises. But thanks to some of the top publishers out there, Batman has fought the Predator, Archie has had to survive a Sharknado, and the Ghostbusters will soon meet up with the Transformers.
Now, because of Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the acclaimed miniseries written by James Tynion IV and illustrated by Freddie Williams II has been adapted to film. Actually, before either version came along, the only way for these pop culture icons to cross paths was in our imaginations – and maybe sometimes with the help of action figures. Odds are that my six-year-old self probably concocted such a mashup back in the day.
But if I’m to be completely honest here, there’s a big difference in how I favor each part in this equation. While my affinity for Batman is well-documented, my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fandom didn’t follow me into adulthood. Regardless, I really dug the aforementioned comic on which the flick we’re here to discuss is based, so I went into my viewing experience rather excited.
Oddly enough, I wound up walking away with a different sentiment toward DC’s latest home video release. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate what it accomplished and don’t think it’s a bad movie by any means – it’s just that this seems like an instance when something worked better on the printed page.
Believe me, even though these concepts have some overlap on the Venn diagram, Batman and Tmnt are very different from one another when you get down to it. In fact, the simple idea that they originate from different universes was thrown out the window in the movie, as the Turtles and their foes take a road trip of sorts to Gotham City.

Loosely based on the 2015 crossover comic series by James Tynion IV, Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is stylistically different than previous DC films. It expertly uses slow motion to add sizzle to the awesome fight scenes. Coupled with a clever, often hilarious script, this installment ranks as one of the best. It is a must see for every comic genre and animation fan.
Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opens in Gotham City. Batgirl (Rachel Bloom) defends a laboratory from a deadly ninja attack. She gets help from mysterious reptile men that disappear in a cloud of smoke. Batman (Rachel Bloom) is concerned about the pattern of scientific installations being robbed. He sets up a trap and is stunned by the skills of his blade-wearing, metal-helmeted adversary. Shredder (Andrew Kishino) is unlike anyone Batman has fought before.
