Ryan Reynolds Parodies Netflix's Holiday Hit 'Hot Frosty' For Aviation Gin
Image
Ryan Reynolds is bringing his own (grim) twist to the holiday season with a hilarious spoof of Netflix's hit film, Hot Frosty. In a new ad for his Aviation Gin, Reynolds voices a muscular snowman who bears a striking resemblance to himself. The commercial playfully parodies the Netflix holiday rom-com that follows a widow who brings a handsome snowman to life. While Hot Frosty focuses on said snowman finding love, Reynolds' ad takes a more comedic approach and sees a different outcome for its snowman. This time, the protagonist isn't interested in romance with a chiseled snowman, but rather a bottle of gin.

Reynolds and his Maximum Effort banner have a knack for creating clever ads for his gin brand. Last year, they delivered two memorable holiday ads. For Just Friendsgiving, Reynolds reunited with his Just Friends co-star Amy Smart; for the brand's Christmas ad, Gingle Bells, Reynolds taps...

Hot Frosty Ending, Explained: How Come Jack Doesnt Melt?
Image
The days are shorter, the air is chilling, and Netflix just released Hot Frosty the perfect Christmas rom-com to keep viewers warm and cozy throughout the upcoming holiday season. The film stars Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls) as Kathy, a widow unable to move past her husband's untimely death. She puts all of her energy into taking care of everyone around her, hoping to be distracted from her grief and just make it through each day. All that changes when she is gifted a magic scarf that transforms a hunky snowman contest entry into a real-life suitor, Jack, played by Dustin Milligan (Schitt's Creek).

This reimagining of a classic Christmas fairy-tale endears audiences (and makes them sweat). It gets away with cheesy jokes and the superficial oggling of a snowman come-to-life through its heartwarming sincerity and messages about spreading joy to find one's own. However, snowman stories of the past usually...

Netflix Is the New Hallmark with 'Hot Frosty'
Image
Quick Links 'Hot Frosty' Brings Holiday Romance to Netflix 'Hot Frosty' Is Exemplary of Netflix's Switch to Making Hallmark Quality Content Does Hallmark Have to Be Worried About Netflix?

The Hallmark Channel has become synonymous with Christmas, with the cable network pumping out dozens of features yearly. The channel has become a staple of many households as they settle into the holiday season. Netflix, the streaming giant, may offer a vast catalog, but it has been slowly expanding in various ways to try to attract as wide an audience as possible. One of the pushes has been for more Christmas-themed content along the same lines, focusing on uplifting stories told on a budget.

Every year, Netflix adds more to its holiday catalog. With the recent success of Hot Frosty (which also happens to star a Hallmark staple), the platform continues to push to establish itself as...

'Hot Frosty' Star Dustin Milligan Talks About Awkward Nude Scenes
Image
Schitts Creek star Dustin Milligan has been turning heads on Netflix recently with his turn as a hot snowman in the holiday rom-com Hot Frosty, but it seems that he was not quite comfortable with the attention being given to him on set. The newest addition to the streamers festive movie line-up has been dominating the chart since its release, and for now it doesnt show any signs of giving up the top spot easily.

Starring Milligan and original Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert, the whimsical, if at times steamy rom-com, about a woman who brings a snowman to life with the use of a magical scarf, is proving that even the most ridiculous sounding movies can be successful especially when the film landed a perfect critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. While the film is proving to be another huge Netflix hit, for its buffed up male lead, that success...

Netflix's 'Hot Frosty' Delivers a Perfect Christmas Rom-Com with 'Mean Girls'' Lacey Chabert
Image
Netflix subscribers love of big, brash action movies has been put on ice as Christmas approaches, with another new festive movie landing a perfect debut on the platform. Meet Me Next Christmas is still topping the global chart (at the time of writing), but the U.S. chart is being dominated by another offering that screams Hallmark Channel in the well-formed Hot Frosty. And there is a good reason why this movie comes with all the hallmarks of the cable network, as it stars the queen of Hallmark movies and Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert in the lead role.

Judging a book by its cover, Hot Frosty has a cheesy, ludicrous, destined-to-fail plot about a widowed woman who, with the use of an enchanted scarf, turns a regular snowman into a hunk with abs, and they spend a romantic Christmas together. Even the overly happy poster art leans into this being another schmaltzy,...

Hot Frosty Review: Netflix's Attempt At A Spicy Christmas Movie Is As Blandly Sweet As Ever
Image
Netflix's Hot Frosty has effectively been branded as part of the opening salvo of a return to form for the streamer's traditionally robust Christmas movie slate, as their platter of holiday offerings in 2023 was empty of major high-concept releases. With the new movie being followed by the Chad Michael Murray-led The Merriest Gentlemen, about a young woman saving her family's venue by putting on a Christmas show featuring male exotic dancers, it has been the streamer's implicit promise that not only are the holidays at Netflix back, they are spicier than ever.

‘Hot Frosty’ Trailer: Lacey Chabert’s Netflix Christmas Movie Brings a Sexy Snowman to Life and Nods to ‘Mean Girls’
Image
Some people are worth melting for — especially the hot ones.

In the new trailer for Netflix’s holiday rom-com “Hot Frosty,” Christmas movie queen Lacey Chabert stars as a widow named Kathy, who magically brings a sexy snowman (“Schitt’s Creek” alum Dustin Milligan) to life. Through his naïveté, the snowman helps Kathy to laugh, feel and love again, as the two fall for each other just in time for the holidays … and before he melts.

At the end of the trailer, Chabert’s character is seen watching Lindsay Lohan’s 2023 Netflix holiday film “Falling for Christmas.” In a nod to their beloved 2004 flick “Mean Girls,” she quips, “That’s so funny. That looks just like a girl I went to high school with.”

Joe Lo Truglio and Craig Robinson bring some comedic relief as a pair of police officers, while Katy Mixon Greer, Lauren Holly, Chrishell Stause, Sherry Miller, Dan Lett,...

Image
Thumpety, thump, thump, Frosty returns like you’ve never seen him before in the new Netflix original “Hot Frosty.”

Lacey Chabert (“Mean Girls”) and Dustin Milligan (“Schitt’s Creek”) teased their unlikely romance in the first trailer for their Netflix holiday movie Wednesday.

Two years after the loss of her husband, Kathy (Chabert) struggles to enjoy the holiday season. But with the help of a magical scarf, she brings a handsome snowman to life. His innocence and wonder teach her to fall in love again just in time for the holiday season.

The real life Frosty named Jack (Milligan) streaks through the park and steals some clothes before bumping into love interest Kathy. Craig Robinson puts Jack on the hot seat in the sheriff’s office before Katy saves him from melting away.

Chabert is no stranger to the holiday rom-com genre, starring in over 30 Hallmark Channel movies. The Queen of...

‘Clown’ DVD Review
Stars: Andy Powers, Laura Allen, Peter Stormare, Elizabeth Whitmere, Christian Distefano, Chuck Shamata, Matthew Stefiuk, Sarah Scheffer, Allen Altman | Written by Christopher D. Ford, Jon Watts | Directed by Jon Watts

An Eli Roth produced horror film about a killer clown. As concepts go, Clown has itself a real doozy. When the clown he hired for his son’s birthday party flakes out on him, a desperate dad and real estate agent dresses up in the clown costume he finds in the basement of one of his properties. His clown act is a resounding success, but isn’t quite so funny the next day, when he can’t get the make-up, wig or nose off his face. Even worse, he appears to be transforming into a child-eating demonic clown. It’s up to his wife and a dodgy Peter Stormare to save the poor guy before its too late – both for...

Frightfest Glasgow 2015: ‘Clown’ Review
Stars: Andy Powers, Laura Allen, Peter Stormare, Elizabeth Whitmere, Christian Distefano, Chuck Shamata, Matthew Stefiuk, Sarah Scheffer, Allen Altman | Written by Christopher D. Ford, Jon Watts | Directed by Jon Watts

There’s been a lot of hype surrounding Clown, no doubt because purveyor of gore and grue, Eli Roth (Hostel), has his name attached to the film. So forgive me if I came away from the movie feeling a little under-whelmed. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed what I saw but I couldn’t help but feel it needed something more… After all, when you break the story down, it’s not much more than a Tales From the Crypt/Tales From the Darkside-style morality play; and those two TV shows told their stories in less than thirty minutes.

Clown tells the story of doting father Kent who dons a clown outfit he finds in an abandoned property he is renovating,...

Casting News for Eli Roth’s Clown
In October 2010, a mock trailer for Clown was released by Jon Watts and Christopher D. Ford, which featured Eli Roth’s name, even though he was unaware of the trailer’s existence. Eventually, this got the attention of Eli Roth and he ended coming on board as a producer to give these guys the opportunity to make a full feature out of their concept.

After not hearing much about Clown this year, it’s been revealed movie is filming right now in Ottawa and we have some casting news to share. According to The Welland Tribune, Seven year old Christian Distefano will be playing Jack, “the son of a man who tries on a clown suit for a birthday party and becomes possessed by the spirit which inhabits it.” Elizabeth Whitmere and Matthew Stefiuk have been cast as the parents, and Bloody Disgusting reports that Andy Powers (Oz) will appear in the movie as well.
