While touting The Pitt‘s 13 nominations on Tuesday, Noah Wyle gave a hint about what to expect in season 2 of the HBO Max medical drama.

In April, executive producer R. Scott Gemmill, EP John Wells and EP/star Wyle appeared at Deadline’s Contenders TV in April and shared that the next 15 hours of The Pitt will take place over a Fourth of July weekend.

Season 2 will pick up 10 months after the final hour of Season 1, which wrapped on April 10.

Of the new season, Wyle tells Deadline, “it’s one of those things where you get in the room and you have a successful first season. Do we go bigger and better and louder and faster? Our job is not to outdo ourselves. Our job is to do ourselves. So think about what worked the first time and do it again. Don’t think about raising a bar on yourself.

Updated: HBO Max’s hit The Pitt earned 13 nominations on Tuesday, including noms for Outstanding Drama and Outstanding Actor for Noah Wyle.

The freshman drama also logged nominations for supporting actress (Katherine Lanasa), guest actor (Shawn Hatosy), directing (John Wells and Amanda Marsalis), writing (Joe Sachs and R. Scott Gemmill), sound editing and casting.

“It’s going to sound trite to say, but I’ve already reaped so many benefits from this show,” Wyle told Deadline Tuesday about being in the Emmy conversation. “It’s been an answered prayer and beyond my expectation that even just being included in the conversation was enough for me. And sometimes you can win by losing, sometimes not being nominated. You can garner a lot of public sympathy and actually it’s better for the longevity of the area of your show. So I was very philosophical about it and thought, I’m happy with whatever comes our way.

Dr. Collins is a fourth-year resident at a teaching hospital in season one and will not be at the shift in season two, we’ve learned. The news was first reported by Deadline’s sister pub TVLine.

The confirmation comes one day after Ifeachor posted a slightly cryptic message on Instagram, saying “what a blessing” it was to be a participant on the first season, calling it an “absolute privilege to play Dr. Heather Collins in such a groundbreaking season and piece.” She made no mention of a second season.

Panels for shows like ‘House of the Dragon’ and others are launching on Max as it prepares its campaign to sway Emmy voters.

Last year, Max tried a unique tactic in order to win over more Emmy voters over: the platform made its For Your Consideration panels available for subscribers to stream on the service. Several shows on Max won big at the 2024 Emmy Awards, and the panels may have helped to sway some minds. That would explain why Warner Bros. Discovery is bringing back those panels in 2025, as announced on Tuesday.

The stars of The Pitt are together again!

Noah Wyle joined co-stars Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, Tracy Ifeachor, Katherine Lanasa, Isa Briones, and Fiona Dourif at the For Your Consideration Event for their hit HBO Max series on Wednesday (May 29) held at the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif.

The Pitt follows emergency room doctors over the course of one shift, has a different approach. Because each hour of the shift is one episode of the season, we don’t get to see characters develop relationships over time. Instead, they have pre-established relationships within that 15 hour shift that play out for the viewer.

Season 2 will follow this same format – with each episode being one hour of that ER shift. The second season will take place over July 4 weekend with a confirmed 15 episode count.

The Pitt gave a shot of adrenaline to FYC season on Wednesday with a special set visit for Emmy voters, followed by a screening of the Season 1 finale and a panel with Noah Wyle (Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch and an executive producer), Shabana Azeez (Victoria Javadi), Fiona Dourif (Dr. Cassie McKay), Katherine Lanasa (Nurse Dana Evans), Tracy Ifeachor (Dr. Heather Collins), Isa Briones (Dr. Trinity Santos), Gerran Howell (Dennis Whitaker), R. Scott Gemmill, and John Wells (executive producer).

During the group Q&a, it was confirmed that Season 2 begins filming "next month" on the Warner Bros. lot. While the cast and producers couldn't speak much about the new episodes, Wyle did tease the plot with 12 words: "Fourth of July. 250th anniversary of America. Big holiday weekend. Busy shift." Hmm, let the fan theories commence!

Gemmill joked that, for Season 2, he pitched an "evil twin" reveal at a "furry convention" in Pittsburgh during Independence Day.

The sophomore season is gearing up for production and will bring back a face that viewers missed in the later episodes of Season 1. Tracy Ifeachor played Dr. Heather Collins in the 15-episode season, but as something unfortunate unfolded in her life, Dr. Collins had to leave before the shift ended. However, the show established in the eleven episodes she was present that she and Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) had a romantic past and might still be attracted to each other. There's a tremendous irony in one of the year's most popular streaming shows being a medical procedural that would feel right at home on cable television. I don't mean this as a slight; far from it, actually. There's a good reason why "The Pitt" was able to maintain its watercooler momentum over the past 15 weeks. In addition to the series being able to scratch that "ER" itch, the real-time hospital drama is an excellent example of economic storytelling that also evoked shades of "M*A*S*H*."

With such a sprawling ensemble to its name, it would be all too easy to lose track of these characters and their many cases, but "The Pitt" boasts an incredible cast in which everyone gets their moment to shine. One of the more surprising performances is that of Isa Briones as Dr. Trinity Santos, a fourth year medical student at Pittsburgh Medical Trauma...

A week after moving into first place in the Gold Derby odds for Best Actor in a Drama Series, Noah Wyle could be in play for several Emmys for The Pitt.

HBO Max has submitted Wyle, who plays Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, in multiple categories for acting, writing, and executive-producing the acclaimed series, Gold Derby has confirmed.

Series creator, executive producer, and showrunner R. Scott Gemmill joins Wyle in the Writing for a Drama Series category. John Wells and Amanda Marsalis are submitted for Directing in a Drama Series.

Exclusive: One of the top contenders on the 2025 Emmy drama race, HBO Max’s breakout medical drama The Pitt, has firmed up its submissions.

In his role as star, writer and executive producer, Noah Wyle will contend in all three areas. He is up for Lead Actor In a Drama Series for his portrayal of Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, the dedicated senior attending physician at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital.

Wyle and series creator, executive producer and showrunner R. Scott Gemmill are The Pitt‘s two submissions in the Writing for a Drama Series category, while executive producer John Wells and Amanda Marsalis are up for Directing In a Drama Series.

Gemmill, Wyle and Wells are all part of the series’ producing team behind The Pitt‘s Outstanding Drama Series submission.

The Pitt, Max’s high-octane, real-time medical drama that took streaming by storm earlier this year, is making a fast and furious leap to linear TV. Warner Bros. Discovery officially announced during its 2025 upfront presentation that the show will air on TNT this fall — giving audiences who missed its initial streaming run a second chance to experience the series ahead of Season 2. But it's not just a case of recycling a greatest hit for the people at the top, as according to Warner Bros. Television Group and U.S. Networks CEO Channing Dungey, this is part of a bigger plan to “eventize” content from Max across the company’s linear platforms, treating shows like The Pitt as the must-see television they are.

“When we put Max programming on the T-nets, we want to make sure that we’re telling the audience, ‘This is something special, you want to tune in for this.

As expected, a second run of Max’s (soon to once again be “HBO Max’s”) smash freshman medical series “The Pitt” will make its way to TNT this fall, exposing the drama to linear viewers who perhaps haven’t caught it quite yet on streaming.
