It's almost time again for Lord Sugar's close-up: The Apprentice, half-arsed business simulator and all-round highlight of the TV calendar, is fast approaching. But what can you expect when it returns for its (*checks watch*) 11th series? And will the contestants still be giving 110%?

First things first, when is The Apprentice back?

Well, we guessed October 14 as it's the week after the Great British Bake Off final - and we were right! BBC One has confirmed that the show will be back with its first episode on Wednesday, October 14 at 9pm. But that's not all, because we'll be treated to a second episode the next day on Thursday, October 15 at 9pm. Start getting your snacks ready now.

Is Lord Sugar back?

Obviously. But while Karren Brady is returning, Nick Hewer announced at the end of last year that he wouldn't be coming back (and we're very upset about it...

Matt Le Tissier was on Countdown today (September 30), and he surprised a lot of people by winning with an impressive 105 points.

Lord Sugar will be warming up his firing finger for a double bill on Wednesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 15 at 9pm, as a fresh crop of entrepreneurs hope to impress him.

A trailer for The Apprentice has just been released, soundtracked by the epic song that is 'Survivor' by Destiny's Child.

The sneak peak also features Sir Alan Sugar's new, thoroughly unimpressed-looking advisor Claude Littner, who viewers will remember causing the candidates to quiver in fear at the interview stage of the show.

Jack Dee has signed up to host the new series of The Apprentice: You're Fired.

The comedian has replaced Dara Ó Briain on the BBC Two companion show, which airs directly after the main episode and features business experts and celebrities discussing the week's events with the eliminated candidate.

Dee - who has experience in the show after appearing on Comic Relief Does The Apprentice in 2009 - said: "I'm very much looking forward to hosting You're Fired and hope that the luckless candidates will see me as the friendly face at the end of a difficult time in their lives."

Meanwhile, friend of the show Romesh Ranganathan has had an upgrade and will be a regular panellist this autumn.

Countdown never fails to impress with its unfortunate letter arrangements - and the latest sees Rachel Riley squirm her way through a round when 'slutz' appears on the board.

The legendary candidate appeared on Lord Sugar's BBC One business series back in 2010, and quickly became a fan favourite after dubbing himself "Stuart Baggs 'The Brand'" and delivering classic quotes like "Everything I touch turns to sold".

Lord Alan Sugar has paid tribute to Stuart Baggs following the former Apprentice contestant's untimely death at the age of just 27.

Telecoms entrepreneur Baggs made the semi-finals of the programme in 2010, quickly becoming a favourite among fans for his memorable one-liners and catchphrases.

"Terrible news, Stuart Baggs has died," Sugar tweeted.

"My sincere condolences to his family and friends Rip. One of the stand out characters of The Apprentice."

Lord Sugar's former Apprentice adviser Nick Hewer also paid tribute, as did the ex-host of spinoff show The Apprentice: You're Fired!, Dara Ó Briain.

The Apprentice star Stuart Baggs has been found dead at the age of just 27.

Police found the body of the businessman after being called to a home on Central Promenade in Douglas on the Isle of Man at 9am this morning (Thursday, July 30).

Past Apprentice candidates and fans of the show have been expressing their shock and sadness this afternoon, with Lord Sugar describing Baggs as "one of the standout characters" on the show.

A police statement read: "Police can now confirm that the man is Stuart Mark Alden Baggs, 27 years of age.

"Police confirm that at this time there is nothing obvious to indicate the cause of his untimely death and enquiries will continue.

"The police request that consideration is given to the privacy of the family and friends at this difficult time."

Alex Horne spent a whole year setting silly tasks for his mates for an hour's worth of fun at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2010 and 2011. Now, he's bringing Taskmaster to TV with the help of Greg Davies and Dave.

The award-winning comic will sit aside Davies in the comedy game show. "I'm sort of the Nick Hewer to his Alan Sugar," he told Digital Spy. Frank Skinner, Tim Key, Romesh Ranganathan, Roisin Conaty and Josh Widdicombe will be the unfortunate stars who have to endure their crazy ideas.

It must be quite the Countdown conundrum when you realise you've got a high-scoring word, but it's one that's going to make Nick Hewer blush.

Myleene Klass wasn't fazed, though. The radio presenter would have won eight points for her glorious "gobshite".

The former Hear'Say star giggled as she told host Hewer: "I got a rude one. It's an eight... gobshite."

While Rachel Riley sheepishly put the letters in place, Dictionary Corner expert Susie Dent confirmed that it was allowed.

Dent told viewers that "gobshite" was "chiefly Irish" and "vulgar slang". So, there you go.

Myleene's crass word came just a week after Riley had to spell out the word "erection", which also won eight points, on the Countdown board.

Meanwhile, Channel 4 has announced that 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown will return for a new series in May, including special guest Joey Essex.

It's official - interviewer from hell Claude Littner will replace Nick Hewer as Lord Sugar's advisor on the next series of The Apprentice. That noise you hear? It's candidates running screaming from that lavish house.

We could probably have guessed that Claude would be the one flanking Lord Sugar in the Boardroom (and reporting back on the candidates' strengths and weaknesses) but while he's notorious for his tricky interviews, what will it be like seeing him week in, week out?
