Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will show us the characters in their most vulnerable and inspired forms. After all, this is the final battle, and they need to give it their all. Shinobu Kocho is especially interesting in this respect. The reason behind that was explained by her voice actor, Saori Hayami, during an interview with Oricon News.
Hayami spoke in great detail about the essence of Shinobu’s character and everything that makes her interesting. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will bring Shinobu’s duality to the forefront and dismantle it by pitting her against her worst enemy. Demon Slayer: Meet the Upper Moons and the Fearsome Demons Replacing Them in the Final Trilogy (Photo Credit – X)
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has never shied away from painting its demons as terrifying, tragic, and unbelievably powerful. But among them, the Upper Moons stand at the very top, who have lived for centuries and left a trail of countless fallen Hashira in their wake. With the series approaching its final arc through a trilogy of movies, now is the perfect time to revisit who these Upper Moons and their coming replacements are.
6) Upper Moon 6: Gyutaro and Daki
The primary antagonists of the Entertainment District Arc were this deranged sibling pair. Although he frequently concealed himself inside his sister Daki, who seduced victims with her beauty, Gyutaro was the Upper Rank Six with his poisoned sickles and distorted strength. Shinobu Kocho Can’t Behead Demons—But She Might Still Be the Deadliest Hashira in Demon Slayer ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
Demon Slayer is known for its frightening demons and high-octane action scenes. However, the anime is also known for its ensemble of the best swordsmen, also known as Hashiras. Each hashira brings power in their own right and is a master of unique breathing styles. However, there is one Hashira who is often referred to as the weakest Hashira. Well, when it comes to raw physical strength, Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira, is often labeled by fans as the “weakest.”
It’s a bold statement that primarily stems from the speculation that she is physically incapable of beheading demons. But is this speculation true? So here’s everything you need to know about her abilities and what role she’s poised to play in the Infinity Castle Arc.
Can Shinobu Kocho behead a demon?...

A Look At The 5 Most Underrated Demon Slayer Characters(Photo Credit –X)
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the most buzzing anime at present. While Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the Hashira get much of the makers’ attention, several characters remain underappreciated despite their major contributions to the story. Let’s take a closer look at the 5 Demon Slayer characters who deserve much more spotlight.
1) Kagaya Ubuyashiki
Kagaya Ubuyashiki has one of the most gravitating personalities in the entire show. He leads the Demon Slayer Corps with serenity, wisdom, and a quiet strength that commands the utmost respect. Born into the same bloodline that gave rise to Muzan, Ubuyashiki inherited a terrible curse that left his body frail and dying early. Still, he never let that stop him from fulfilling his duty to the Demon Slayer Corps.

Demon Slayer: Hashira’s Age ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
Demon Slayer is a series full of fierce battles, heart-wrenching backstories, and characters who shoulder world-ending responsibility. But you would be shocked to know the age of these heroes who are risking their lives to fight off demons. The shonen anime’s cast is mostly made up of adolescents. That’s especially wild when you think about how these characters travel alone, face terrifying demons, and get caught in life-or-death situations almost daily.
With Tanjiro being just 15 years old when he joined the Demon Slayer Corps, many fans are left wondering: How old are the Hashira, the elite warriors at the top of the Corps? Surprisingly, the majority of these nine fighters are still quite young. Let’s take a closer look at Hashira’s age and birthday (as retrieved via Cbr).

Warning: Spoilers for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle MovieDemon Slayerfans who watched the new trailer carefully may have caught on to a horrifying hint at one character's fate, teasing one of the manga's darkest moments being brought to life. For those who haven't spotted it yet, there's one character to pay close attention to: Doma.
Doma is the Upper Rank Two demon, ranking only behind Kokushibo and Muzan himself. Doma has been around as a demon for a very long time, and has gone up against many Demon Slayers in that period, including the former Flower Hashira and Shinobu's deceased older sister, Kanae Kocho.
Doma is known for leading a cult known as the Eternal Paradise Faith, which he was involved in even before becoming a demon, and which he uses to gather followers who will someday become his meals.

The Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie is the first of a trilogy adapting the manga’s final arc. Its main trailer has fans buzzing with anticipation, but it has us worried. The movie’s trailer suggests that it will feature multiple important battles during its runtime.
While this might seem like great news at first, the decision to cram these battles into a single film feels wrong. This move could risk damaging the series’ hard-earned reputation while also diluting some of the story’s most impactful moments.

Demon Slayer has been one of the reigning kings of Shonen for the last few years. Rightfully so, as whether it is emotional depth, well-rounded character arcs, meaningful backstories for heroes and villains alike, or heart-pounding action, the series has it all.
Ufotable’s spectacular animation obviously increases its appeal even more. However, there is one aspect of the series that often gets overlooked by even the most hardcore fans. That is, for a high-fantasy, Shonen series, just how scientific the story is.
Which is nothing but unfortunate, as Koyoharu Gotouge’s careful attention to the world-building and intricately entwining small details is possibly most evident when it is seen from a sci-fi lens.
Demon Slayer Is Far More Scientific Than You Would Think

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains minor Demon Slayer manga spoilers.
Tanjiro is often praised for how calm and soft-spoken he is in Demon Slayer, and the same traits also make him boring to some fans. When Nezuko turned into a demon, Tanjiro took a massive responsibility on his shoulders. From that point onwards, his story became one of perseverance and proving himself.
While many shonen characters go through similar challenges, the world of Demon Slayer is far more brutal. In addition to that, Tanjiro’s age makes his life even more tragic. He chose to grow up way sooner than he should have had to, and that makes his struggles more heartbreaking than admirable or inspiring.
Tanjiro’s age makes his tragedy hit harder
Compared to most shonen characters, who are loud, full of joy and enthusiasm, Tanjiro is calmer. He respects everyone, and the only thing that gets him enraged is the demons.

Fans can question everything about Demon Slayer, except for its animation and fight sequences. While the initial fights had a horror element to them, like the fight against Rui, the later ones had unbearable emotional weight and high stakes. The fights in Demon Slayer are some of the best, and most battle-shonen pale in comparison.
Even within the series, there’s great competition. Every arc has multiple fights, and most of them are visually and narratively strong. Some fights still stand out as the cream of the crop. So, here’s a list of the top 5 battle scenes in Demon Slayer.

There are a myriad of characters in Demon Slayer, and one of the strengths of the show is that each character seems to be unique and distinct. To make the characters memorable and easy to recognize, they have been given defining backgrounds and moments.
Of these, Zenitsu is a character that is portrayed extremely well. Coming off as weak and cowardly, Zenitsu seems to be a burden to the team rather than an asset. In moments of peril, Zenitsu’s comical tears and cries offer a degree of comfort and comedic relief.
But some moments are extremely pivotal in showing the development in Zenitsu’s character. For instance, Zenitsu’s battle against Kaigaku is one such defining event.
Zenitsu’s cowardly character required a lot of polishing
Zenitsu Agatsuma was an intriguing character from the very beginning. He served as a contrast to the young, yet daring characters of Tanjiro and Inosuke.

In a world of stunning visuals and an emotionally gripping story, the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has introduced many characters that fit the mold of classic heroes. In the series where we have brave, noble, and uncompromisingly just characters, we also have Shinobu Kocho, whose character description is nothing short of unique.
Demon Slayer has taken a bold step away from the traditional heroic blueprint for the Insect Hashira. Instead of giving her the raw power of the Flame Hashira, Rengoku, or the noble heart of our protagonist, Tanjiro, the series has crafted a character who is soft-spoken, always smiling, yet driven by rage, loss, and a thirst for vengeance. And in doing so, the anime has created one of its most fascinating and unconventional heroes ever seen.

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains minor spoilers for the Infinity Castle arc.
The bonkers animation of Demon Slayer shines the brightest when the characters swing their swords. Their movements might become difficult to track, but the attention to detail in the animation is apparent in every frame. The fight between Tengen and Gyutaro exemplifies this quite well. However, that fight also stands out for how well it explores Tengen’s character.
A Hashira who’s known for his strength didn’t shy away from asking for help. He called out to Tanjiro when he saw his wives in danger. The desperation, the helplessness, and the care raised the stakes. That made every attack more impactful, making the fight one of the best. As great as this fight truly was, it still has a long way to go to surpass Rengoku’s final fight in the series.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is definitely a vibe, with a compelling storyline, Ufotable’s insane animation, and characters you will not forget. If you are invested in Tanjiro Kamado’s mission to save his demon sister Nezuko, then the Hashira from the elite Demon Slayer Corps are a big reason for that.
But when we first meet the Hashira, they aren’t exactly welcoming and warm. So what gives? It is because they aren’t those cliche anime mentors who are all wise and flawless.
Demon Slayer stans can’t stop discussing how Koyoharu Gotouge made these mentors unique by making them a little unlikable at first, showing their messy quirks. And it all makes them real, human characters that it is impossible not to root for.
Hashira’s first impressions? Not the best
The thing is, when the Hashira came on the scene in Episode 22, they’re not exactly winning us over.

There’s massive popularity, and then there’s everything Demon Slayer has achieved with its glorious animation and exciting fights. Whether it’s die-hard anime fans or those who are barely familiar with the medium, Tanjiro and his story can hook anyone and everyone. Despite the extraordinary success, it’s a popular belief that the animanga series isn’t as narratively sound as one would expect.
Compared to the animation or the characters, the story isn’t as gripping. It’s straightforward and makes one question if the series is overrated, as many say. No matter which side of the argument you’re on, the finale of the Hashira Training Arc compels you to believe that Demon Slayer has great writing. Maybe not consistently, but the story doesn’t disappoint when it truly matters.

Demon Slayer has to be one of the biggest highlights in the anime industry when it comes to writing emotionally driven fight scenes. Usually, all the characters involved in any given fight get their storylines explained well. But this wasn’t the case with Inosuke. For some reason, the narrative felt quite flat as it used a cheap plot convenience just to save our Boar Boy.
It all happened during the Tengen vs. Gyutaro fight. Yes, you might have already guessed which scene I’m talking about exactly. While the fight as a whole was arguably the best the series has to offer, this one fatal mistake by the creators still left me bamboozled. I mean, there must have been other ways to save Inosuke, right, rather than simply saying he shifted his organs?
The narrative did Inosuke dirty just for the sake of keeping him alive

With more Demon Slayer on the horizon thanks to the upcoming Infinity Castle movies, the series has held onto its forward momentum long past the original manga's ending.
Given the series' popularity, it was an obvious choice for CyberConnect2 and Arc System Works to make a follow-up to its 2021 fighting video game, Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles. The second game in the series has now released a new trailer, showing off the Swordsmith Village Arc from the story mode of the game, which is set to release in North America on Aug. 5, 2025.

The new trailer shows off more than two minutes' worth of in-engine cutscenes and gameplay, showcasing the visuals of the game and exactly how close its visuals have come to match that of the Ufotable art style of the hit anime series.

While the price of US$580-590 per timepiece may put some fans off, the watch specs and production process may well make the cost worth it. From the micro-thin 0.0001 mm metal layering to the character-accurate hand-coloring, each element adds an air of sophistication to the Demon Slayer collectible scene, making the watches as luxurious as required for social media unboxing videos as well. We can all agree that Demon Slayer is a straight-up phenomenon! Watching Tanjiro save Nezuko and fight Muzan freaking hit us hard while those exquisite visuals are equally great. But even though Tanjiro is pivotal to the story, it is the Hashira who somehow steal the spotlight whenever they show up.
And the reason? They are totally badass demon slayers, made even cooler by their Breathing Styles and tragic pasts. We get to see moments like Rengoku’s fiery aura and Shinobu’s sneaky revenge.
But those are just quick flashbacks, and we need more! So, a spinoff would broaden the world of Demon Slayer, while allowing the Hashira to shine, and not just be members of Tanjiro’s crew.
Their backstories deserve more development
Each of the Hashira has their own stories, which are gut-wrenching or tear-jerking, but we were only left with fragments. Giyu is still shattered after losing Sabito,...

Demon Slayer might be a short series compared to the more famous ones, but the sheer amount of plot lines Koyoharu Gotouge has included says otherwise. Many characters I wanted them to explore further were inevitably left behind, giving space for the main characters who will naturally shine more.
The wasted potential of some of these characters, however, is downright criminal. A famous example of this was Doma. When we heard about his cult, I believed it would become an arc of its own in Demon Slayer, but nothing came out of that piece of information. He’s barely seen otherwise, a pattern we witness with other characters.
When confronted with the question of which character is the most underutilized in Demon Slayer, the most common answer was the members of the Butterfly Mansion, specifically Kanae Kocho and Kanao Tsuyuri. While Shinobu got the spotlight, the rest had no solid purpose in the storyline.

In the Demon Slayer universe, fans are accustomed to big and flashy fights, jaw-droppingly intense animation, and powerful characters with just as captivating backstories. But sometimes, it’s the side characters—the ones with barely any screen time who end up leaving the biggest impressions.
And that’s exactly the case with Kanae Kocho, the older sister of Shinobu and the former Flower Hashira. Kanae is, without a doubt, one of the kindest and most humane characters in all of Demon Slayer.

Characters like Rengoku steal a lot of screen time, deservedly so, but Kanae, who’s clearly had “fan favorite” written all over her, did not get anywhere near the attention she deserved. It felt like her death was the only thing that merited time, and the narrative quickly switched focus onto Shinobu, Kanae’s sister.

Demon Slayer often gets flak for being solely carried by its animation, which isn’t true at all, especially when we consider other aspects of the series. The animation is superb, yes, but there are other charms as well. It is true for its gripping storyline, engaging fights, and well-written characters.
We don’t give Demon Slayer enough credit for its fleshed-out and layered characters, be they demons or Hashiras. Gotouge went the extra mile with characterization. Their backstories and entire development within the story are well-thought-out however, this also extends to the mangaka’s writing of female characters.

From their backstories to their personalities, women exist beyond the frontiers of conventional representation in the series. They’re not restricted to the therapist, mother, and maid archetype; there’s more to it. The characterization itself is a critical lens into the shonen world through the mangaka’s view.

Glorious animation is the only thing that precedes Nezuko’s popularity in a discussion about Demon Slayer. She is the face of the animanga series, and it’s due to her cuteness. Every time she turns into the chibi version of herself, and flutters around like a butterfly, one can’t help but find her adorable.
However, in a world where demons threaten mankind, I can’t help but wonder how come Nezuko is so useless. There are some moments where she saves Tanjiro and the others, but for the most part, she serves no purpose in the series. It makes me question her popularity every time I look at the roster of cool characters.

There’s one possibility that explains Nezuko’s underwhelming character arc and her popularity. It seems like most fans have come to the same conclusion about her character arc.

Fans have been waiting for the Infinity Castle Arc to be adapted on screen, and the first movie of its trilogy will be released soon. The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba—The Movie: Infinity Castle is set to hit theatres in July. It will be released in August and September, depending on the region.
Seasoned fans of Demon Slayer were worried that Ufotable was taking advantage of the series’ popularity, similar to what happened with Mappa and Attack on Titan. The final season kept getting extended, ruining all the anticipation for its ending.

Demon Slayer has dominated the anime industry over the past few years, and now it seems to have taken over the world of American comics. The manga has allegedly outsold the latter, a feat only shared by legendary series like Dragon Ball and One Piece.
The influence of Demon Slayer can be seen across the world. Even non-anime fans get converted after watching the series. While many may believe it’s the gorgeous animation quality, it might not be the case. It’s all because of how simple and easy Koyoharu Gotouge’s writing is.

Underneath the grandeur of Ufotable’s animation quality, the series isn’t exactly complicated and follows a classic Shonen formula. It doesn’t deviate or add anything complex to make it stand out from other fantasy Shonen series. Some try, but Demon Slayer always comes out on top.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Solo Leveling are examples of stories that resonate with the audience because they balance high-octane action, heartwarming emotions, and some humor.
Both series feature protagonists who start from a humble level and proceed to overcome insurmountable odds to transcend their limits and reach their ultimate goal.

Unhinged is the perfect word to describe Upper Rank Two, Douma, from Demon Slayer. Whether it’s Muzan or death itself, nothing can faze Douma. He enjoys ridiculing others, and hardly expresses any other emotions than delight. That’s how he usually interacts with the other demons.
As for his interactions with humans, he’s more condescending and considers them inferior. The best thing to expect from the character is nothing. It’s almost difficult to define him, as there’s hardly anything he feels strongly about. He’s incapable of feeling emotions, which is also one of his defining traits.

This is why Douma’s final interaction with Shinobu right before his death shocked fans. Douma wondered if he felt love for Shinobu, and his confession confused fans. As understandable as the doubt is, there’s a simple explanation of Douma’s words.

Romance anime wouldn't be the same without the main relationship driving the plot. Those relationships define the genre and expectations of the series they're in. Relationships can even dictate the direction an anime with a romance subplot can take. However, anime, like everything else, is prone to change.
What is acceptable one day may later become toxic with age and hindsight. This includes anime relationships. Fans may adore certain couples, but these ships don't always age well. Sometimes fans don't see how toxic and uncomfortable these relationships are until long after a series is over.

Sailor Moon may be a magical girl anime, but the series would feel like something was missing if it lacked the relationship between the heroine Usagi and her love interest Mamoru. Tuxedo Mask swept fans off their feet just as much as he did Usagi.

Solo Leveling and Demon Slayer are definitely two of the most popular anime that fans absolutely love and support across all platforms. This gets proven as Solo Leveling finally overthrows Demon Slayer, with the most reviews on Crunchyroll.

The number one position is still within the grasp of One Piece, but Solo Leveling is not far behind. Demon Slayer used to be in the second position, but now it has been pushed to the 3rd rank.
Nevertheless, their popularity is raising questions amongst fans who understand the hype but not the appeal. Just because they are famous, does that automatically mean they have good stories, or maybe other factors are at play that masterfully hide their flaws?

Now this is quite interesting, or maybe even heartbreaking for a lot of fans. The news went viral when people got to know the upcoming Demon Slayer anime installment will completely change its episodic release format while adapting the manga’s one of the most hyped arcs, the Infinity Castle Arc!
According to some Japanese reports, we can expect to see a new movie every two years, with a total of 3 movies spanning the duration of a whopping 6 years!

Some of the most popular anime of all time are frequently the longest-running series, with dozens, or even hundreds of episodes. Even when broken down into arcs, these shows can still feel like they take forever to finish--some arcs can be dozens of episodes. However, there are exceptions to the rule.
There are some anime arcs that don't take very long at all, often running for five episodes or fewer. These are often introductory arcs, or arcs that are meant to be a break from serious moments. These can often serve as low-investment ways to get anime fans into even the longest anime series.

Although there are only nine current active Hashira, many other Demon Slayer characters deserve a spot in this respectable organization. With feats of strength and bravery, the Hashira are the primary group that has helped protect humanity from demons and trained the next generation of demon slayers to follow after them.
A handful of heroes in the story proved through their actions that they deserve to bear this title of Hashira as well. An ideal Hashira has a Breathing Style that they have achieved mastery over, a spirit of unshakable courage, and the willingness to pass their wisdom down to others. Although they never officially joined the Hashira, these characters embody these values so well, they would make perfect picks for the organization.

Makomo's appearance in Demon Slayer was very brief, but still impactful.

Demon Slayer can be a pretty disheartening and grim series due to its distressing premise. Since the characters devote so much of their time and energy to fighting demons and saving humanity, friendships, romantic relationships, and happy moments are not the focal point of the series. In spite of this, there are a few genuinely positive and mutually fulfilling bonds showcased in the story.
Friendship is a key theme in Demon Slayer, because fighting bloodthirsty villains is not a task that can be easily accomplished alone. Not only do the Hashira and other demon slayers band together as colleagues out of necessity, they form genuine bonds of friendship and trust that go far beyond their jobs. Demon Slayer's friendships add joy to an otherwise despondent series, giving viewers hope too that perhaps the heroes will succeed after all.

Last week, Donald Trump won the presidential election against Kamala Harris, and in January will be installed as the next president of the United States, returning to the White House after four years away. Trump is easily the most divisive figure to come along in American politics — maybe global politics — in decades, and I was firmly in the camp that was hoping he would lose the election.
Obviously I'm hoping for the best out his presidency, but in the days after the results came in, the main thing I was feeling was afraid. I'm afraid that Trump will tank the country's economy by, among other things, imposing new tariffs on foreign goods, driving up inflation just as the country had gotten it under control following the post-pandemic boom. I'm afraid he's going to decimate public goods by, for example, eliminating the Department of Education, making it harder to raise families...

Leading the pack, the Hashira exemplify these traits to the highest degree. Dedicated to protecting society, they leave previous aspirations behind and work together to slay the demons plaguing human communities and end the demon king, Muzan Kibutsuji. Although some Hashira are given more screen time to shine, each has had their notable fighting moments that leave watchers wanting more. The best Hashira fights in Demon Slayer show...

Demon Slayer's Doma is one of the series' most horrific villains of all time. His influence on the story is often underrated, but he is responsible for some of the goriest, most difficult-to-stomach kills in the entire series. As the Upper Rank Two, he is a crucial member of Lord Muzan's Twelve Kizuki and one of the franchise's most cutthroat, cold, and emotionless evildoers, hurting and killing humans with zero remorse.
@kuroni_ravenia has portrayed the Demon Slayer villain looking a disturbing blend of both elegant and terrifying. They are wearing a crimson red shirt with a black design that looks like blood dripping and a matching red hat with a similar black dripping design, tying the two pieces together fashionably. Their wide leg pants are white and black striped, with a golden belt holding them up. @kuroni_ravena is also wearing a purple and black vest-like garment, draped...

The Demon Slayer anime series generally relies on the classic power of friendship and love as the heroes push themselves to defeat the demons whom they swore to destroy. Most of the elite Hashira do that too, but there is a distinct exception: Shinobu Kocho, the official Insect Hashira. Shinobu actually goes against the grain in many ways in Demon Slayer's story, creating a character arc unlike any other in this shonen anime.
Ever since her introduction in the Mount Natagumo story arc in Season 1, Shinobu has been the odd one out among the Hashira and has been a contradictory character in fascinating and meaningful ways. Shinobu may have the same duty has her fellow Hashira and other slayers, but the way she goes about it seemingly breaks all the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps. Due to her past expriences and physical strength, that's simply who Shinobu Kocho needed to be,...
