Mew Trailer: Nyaight of the Living Cat by Executive Director Takashi Miike
Image
Attention! This is a PSA! The End is Nyaigh!

In case you missed the celebration of Cat Day in Japan this past Caturday, February 22, an all-new trailer has been released that warns of the upcoming “nyandemic.” From executive director Takashi Miike, the animated post-apocalyptic comedy series Nyaight of the Living Cat will begin streaming this July only on Crunchyroll worldwide excluding Asia. Sony Pictures Entertainment will be distributing in Asia and Japan.

Please spread awareness, but help reduce panic and hiss-teria by staying cautious and vigilant. Don’t let their cute faces and fluffy coats fool you. If you see a cat lying on its back, do not touch its belly. It’s a trap! If you see a cat making fresh biscuits, do not stop in awe. Before you know it, you may be swarmed by a clowder with no escape. If a cat makes contact with you, it’s already too late.

The One Piece fandom was recently given the heartbreaking news of Kazuki Yao stepping down from his role as the voice actor for Franky, the shipwright of the Straw Hat Pirates. The voice actor was one of the veterans who has worked with the One Piece franchise for a very long time and has offered his voice to many different characters like Jango and Bon Clay.

After succumbing to old age, Yao had no choice but to retire and let Subaru Kimura, the voice actor of Aoi Todo from Jujutsu Kaisen, take over. However, it looks like Yao might not be the only one who left the One Piece family, as another voice actor gets in line for retirement. This voice actor is none other than Shūichi Ikeda, who voiced the character of Red-Haired Shanks in the official One Piece anime series.

Via Seibertron, among the voice acting cast is the original Japanese voice for Optimus Prime, although this time around, he won't be voicing the iconic Autobot leader. Likewise, a notable voice actor for Bumblebee is also present, along with two voice talents that might be well-known among fans of Jujutsu Kaisen. ‘Suicide Squad Isekai’ Original Anime Adaptation to Launch Across Asia
Image
A ten-episode original series “Suicide Squad Isekai,” produced by Warner Bros. Japan’s Anime Production and Wit Studio, will premiere on HBO Go later this month.

The show is an anime (Japanese-style animation) adaptation spawned by the DC Comics universe. It places DC characters including Harley Quinn, The Joker, and the Suicide Squad in new stories. The Japanese word ‘Isekai’ translates into English as ‘another world.’

Earlier this year, Warner Bros. confirmed that it will be increasing the number of such anime adaptations in Asia.

“We have a Japanese anime studio, which has been producing five or ten anime series per year, over the last few years,” said James Gibbons, Wbd president of Asia-Pacific in March. “We’ve approved expansion to take that to more than ten series per year.”

The studio has been operational since 2011 and delivered over 80 titles in that span, a mix of high-quality anime, live action series and movies.

Onimusha (2023)
Onimusha Review: A Slick, Ferocious, and Surprisingly Touching Adaptation
Onimusha (2023)
Surrounded by zombies in a desolate mountain village, Miyamoto Musashi (Ôtsuka Akio) hatches a plan to corral the creatures and blast them en masse. But the samurai needs bait, so he dangles a young girl named Sayo (Yamane Aya), the town’s sole survivor, in front of the horde. A close-up centers her trembling face and chattering teeth. “Don’t worry,” Musashi says, flashing an impish smile. “I won’t let them lay a finger on you.” Sayo steels herself, nodding with quiet confidence in her newfound companion.

The scene, which takes place midway through the second episode of Netflix’s Onimusha, is emblematic of the animated series, based on Capcom’s supernatural samurai video game series of the same name. Beneath the show’s slick, ferocious action—a hallmark of supervising director Miike Takashi—lies a surprisingly touching emotional core.

Set during the Edo period, Onimusha begins shortly after...

Onimusha (2023)
Netflix Adaptation of Capcom’s ‘Onimusha’ Slices Into a November 2 Release [Trailer]
Onimusha (2023)
While Konami seems to have been hogging all of the animated Netflix video game adaptations lately, Capcom has countered with a new trailer for Onimusha, which is set to start streaming on November 2. Set to “The Loneliest” by Måneskin, the trailer doesn’t get into the demon-slaying that the video games are known for just yet, but that’s quickly rectified.

Unlike the Castlevania Netflix adaptations, Onimusha instead utilizes 3D animation with a cel-shaded art style from animation studio Sublimation and director Shinya Sugai, whose work includes the CG anime adaptation of another Capcom property, Dragon’s Dogma.

Directed by Takashi Miike and featuring the voice talents of Akio Otsuka, Toshihiko Seki, Hochu Otsuka, Daiki Yamashita, Subaru Kimura and Katsuyuki Konishi, Onimusha will focus on Miyamoto Musashi, who is modeled after Japanese film icon Toshiro Mifune.

Set in the early Edo Period, a time when Japan was transitioning towards peace, and warfare was fading into history,...

A Basketball Anime from Japan - 'The First Slam Dunk' Teaser Trailer
Image
"Miyagi. This is your stage." GKids Films has revealed a first look teaser for the US release of the Japanese anime comedy The First Slam Dunk, adapted from the manga by Takehiko Inoue. After opening in Japan late last year, it's set for US release this summer in theaters. The First Slam Dunk is an update based on the iconic comics and previous series, including Slam Dunk from the 90s and Slam Dunk: The Movie in 1994. Takehiko Inoue's basketball series had a huge impact when it was first published in the 90s, so much so that it created a huge surge in interest in the sport in Japan. The movie shifts the focus from Hanamichi to his teammate Ryota Miyagi, the point guard for the Shohoku high school basketball team, and his story and personal challenges. Hanamachi is also in the film, as are teammates Takenori Akagi, Hisashi Mitsui and Kaede Rukawa,...

Gkids Acquires Toei Animation Title ‘The First Slam Dunk’ Based On Takehiko Inoue Manga
Image
Gkids has snapped up North American rights to Toei Animation’s film The First Slam Dunk, an adaptation of the hugely popular Takehiko Inoue manga, which Inoue wrote and directed for the screen. The film which has already proven a smash hit in other territories, grossing over $212M globally, will hit theaters in the U.S. and Canada in both its original Japanese language and an all-new English-language dub later this summer.

Marking Inoue’s directorial debut, The First Slam Dunk follows Shohoku High School’s “speedster” point guard, Ryota Miyagi, who always plays with brains and lightning speed, running circles around his opponents while feigning composure. Born and raised in Okinawa, Ryota had a brother who was three years older. And following in the footsteps of his older brother, who was a famous local player from a young age, Ryota also became addicted to basketball.

In his second year of high school,...

Doraemon (1979)
Doraemon in Nobita and the Steel Troops Review - Realbollywood.com News
Doraemon (1979)
Film: 'Doraemon in Nobita and the Steel Troops: The New Age'; Director: Yukiyo Teramoto; Voiceovers: Masaharu Fukuyama, Yumi Kakazu, Koji Kato, Subaru Kimura; Rating: ** - a disappointing fare.

There's an old tradition of treating children's content with lightness. The usual justification given for making bad children's films is that put anything moving in front of kids, and they will like it (by that logic, there's no need for any specialised content for kids).

And it is this same malady that 'Doraemon...' suffers from, with a substandard story and execution. And it's a greater.
