Michael Caine Talks Retirement & How He Wants to Be Remembered
Image
Michael Caine, the iconic actor, believes his retirement is near at the age of 90, saying he has practically stopped acting due to his physical limitations. Caine reflects on his life and is grateful for the best possible wife and family, acknowledging that everyone will eventually face death. Caine's next film, "The Great Escaper," could be his last, following his suggestion that retirement is imminent.

Acting icon Michael Caine could be near the end of his successful career. After becoming one of the most recognized and celebrated actors within the entire film industry, Caine is ready to rest and enjoy his achievements. The British artist has managed to become an absolute icon of cinema, working in more than 160 titles across film and television since he took his first steps in acting in 1950.

Turning 90 earlier this year, the multi-award-winning actor believes that his retirement is very close. In an article published by The Telegraph,...

Michael Caine & Glenda Jackson in 'The Great Escaper' Dramedy Trailer
Image
"If you want to honor your friend, Bernie... You've spent 70 years loving me. We have never wasted one second of our time together." Pathe has revealed a trailer for a British dramedy titled The Great Escaper, based on a true story from a few years ago. The feel-good film will open in UK cinemas this fall, but there's still no US release date set yet. In the summer of 2014, Bernard Jordan staged a "great escape" from his care home to join fellow war veterans on a beach in Normandy, France, commemorating their fallen comrades at the D-Day Landings 70th anniversary. The legendary Michael Caine stars as Bernie, which is pretty much perfect casting. Bernie's adventure, spanning a mere 48 hours, also marked the culmination of his 60-year marriage to Rene – The Great Escaper celebrates their enduring love but always with an eye to the lessons we might learn from the Greatest Generation.

‘Lady Macbeth’ DVD Review
Stars: Florence Pugh, Cosmo Jarvis, Paul Hilton, Naomi Ackie, Christopher Fairbank, Golda Rosheuvel, Bill Fellows, Ian Conningham | Written by Nikolai Leskov, Alice Birch | Directed by William Oldroyd

Anybody who had to do Macbeth at school know the enigmatic Lady Macbeth, and what her part was in the play. This version though, based on Nikolai Leskov’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk is not a tale of insanity, but of pure selfish evil.

In rural England 1865, Katherine (Florence Pugh) is stuck in her loveless marriage to a bitter man who holds no love for her. When he and his father leave her alone on the estate, she falls for a young worker Sabastian (Cosmo Jarvis). With the risk of her affair being revealed, what ends will she go to in order to protect herself?

The character of Lady Macbeth in Shakespeare’s play is interesting because of the downfall of her character.

First Trailer for William Oldroyd's 'Lady Macbeth' with Florence Pugh
"A seductive mix of sex and murder." Roadside Attractions has unveiled a trailer for the film Lady Macbeth, an adaptation of Nikolai Leskov's novella "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk". This classic period piece thriller is set during the 19th century, and involves a young woman being sold into a marriage with a middle-aged man that abuses her, so she figures out a way to get rid of him. Florence Pugh plays Katherine, and the cast includes Christopher Fairbank, Cosmo Jarvis, Bill Fellows, Paul Hilton, Naomi Ackie, and Ian Conningham. This already premiered at film festivals earlier this fall, and is also playing at the Sundance Film Festival coming up in January. Not really my kind of film, but might be interesting to some. See below. Here's the official Us trailer for William Oldroyd's Lady Macbeth, originally from Yahoo: In this adaptation of Nikolai Leskov's novella "Lady Macbeth...

Doctor Who, Ep. 9.05, “The Girl Who Died”
Doctor Who, Series 9, Episode 5, “The Girl Who Died”

Written by Jamie Mathieson and Steven Moffat

Directed by Ed Bazalgette

Airs Saturdays at 9pm (Et) on BBC America

Doctor Who has had a solid run since Peter Capaldi stepped in as the Twelfth Doctor, with some creative ideas from the writers, a bigger emphasis on visual style from the directors, and strong performances from Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the lead roles. However, for this Whovian (and as I discussed recently on Debating Doctor Who), no episode has fully come together, with each element of the show working at its peak to make a whole greater than its parts, as happens in the very best of each Doctor’s stories. With “The Girl Who Died”, that finally changes; the Twelfth Doctor at last has an indicative episode, a story that highlights the very best of this Doctor and the current version of the series.

Doctor Who is the persistent subject of rumours - from the credible to the outright absurd - and it can be difficult to separate what's fact from what's fiction.

Hide behind the sofa: Doctor Who's new Series 9 monster teased by BBC
The Doctor's latest adversary has been unveiled online.

The sinister-looking creature, obscured by gloom but looking like a cross between a Yo Gabba Gabba character and a Sky HD Box, will feature in the upcoming series of Doctor Who later this year.

The BBC tweeted the picture earlier today (April 21), revealing that Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman will come face-to-face with the monster in the ninth series.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One in the autumn, with Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams appearing in one episode.

Comedian Rufus Hound and Siblings' Tom Stourton have also been announced for guest starring roles in series nine, along with Ariyon Bakare, Simon Lipkin, Ian Conningham, Murray McArthur, Barnaby Kay, John Voce and Struan Rodger.

Having landed back in the UK fresh from touring the Us, today Maisie Williams sets foot on the Doctor Who Tardis to take up a guest role in the hit BBC America show that returns to our screens this fall. Maisie has already found global fame and is renowned for her role as Arya Stark in the international fantasy drama series Game of Thrones. She also starred in the one-off docu-drama Cyberbully and was cast as one of the leads of Carol Morley's drama The Falling. As well as being a three-time Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee, in February of this year she was awarded with a Shooting Star Award at the Berlin Film Festival. On her first day on set, Maisie Williams said:

Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams to guest star in Doctor Who series 9
Maisie Williams is to appear in the new series of Doctor Who.

The Game of Thrones actress will guest star in an episode of the sci-fi drama when it returns for its ninth run in the autumn.

Williams, whose role has not yet been revealed, said: "I'm so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it's such a big and important part of British culture.

"I can't wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we'll be shooting not too far from my home town."

Showrunner Steven Moffat added: "We're thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It's not possible to say too much about who or what she's playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways.

"This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.
