‘Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores’ Delivers Everything The Series Needs To Grow
Image
The Horizon series has had a rough go.

Despite being one of the best new PlayStation franchises of the last decade, garnering tons of awards nominations and selling very well, it hasn’t really hit the zeitgeist in the way many expected.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Review - Unprecedented Machine Mayhem
Image
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is a fitting and even important expansion to the base game, contributing greatly to Aloy's story at large despite a hasty runtime. Guerrilla Games released Forbidden West – the second part of what appears to be a trilogy – for both the PlayStation 4 and 5 early last year, but now the Burning Shores Dlc is available exclusively for Sony's latest hardware. Although the expansion unfortunately excludes a significant portion of Forbidden West's player base, Burning Shores is definitively current-gen, a technical showcase that is essentially a must-play for fans of Aloy and Horizon.

Burning Shores gets underway with little preamble when Sylens, a reminder of the gravitas provided by the late Lance Reddick, gives Aloy the mission of hunting down a stray Zenith in the volcanic ruins of what used to be Los Angeles. A handful of establishing shots later, Aloy crash-lands in the eponymous Burning Shores and meets Seyka,...

Darby and the Dead Review
Image
Plot: After suffering a near-death experience as a young girl, Darby Harper gains the ability to see dead people. As a result, she becomes introverted and shut off from her high school peers and prefers to spend time counseling lonely spirits who have unfinished business on earth. But all that changes when Capri, the Queen Bee of the school’s most exclusive clique, unexpectedly dies in a freak hair straightening accident, resulting in the obvious cancellation of her upcoming “Sweet 17.” Capri, however, pleads with Darby from the other side to intervene and convince Capri’s friends to proceed with the party as planned. In order to appease the wrath of the undead diva, Darby must emerge from her self-imposed exile and reinvent herself — which along the way allows her to find new joy back in the land of the living.

Review: There are two types of teen movies: good ones and bad ones.

Ninja Assassin Review
Short Version: Ninja Assassin has many flaws; however, the ninjas are not one of them. All of the ninja action in this film is awesome, and for fans of the genre that’s probably enough.

Screen Rant’s Paul Young reviews Ninja Assassin

Ninja Assassin is the first action movie this Fall that delivers on what it promises: Lots of ninja action.

I’m a sucker for a good ninja fight, no matter how choreographed it is. The silent-but-deadly ninja was a huge part of the 80’s action movie sub-culture; since I grew up in the 80’s, I have seen every one that I can get my hands on (yes that includes American Ninja, I, II, III, IV And V). Ninjas doing what they do best (being sneaky) have slowly crept into popular culture over time. Mythbusters did an entire episode on ninja myth and lore and the website AskANinja.

Ron Says 'Ninja Assassin' Really Has Little To Do With Ninjas
Though films with substance can be the most memorable, now and then a decent movie that invites you to check your brain at the door can be rewarding. The problem is those types of films have to be somewhat decent and they are getting pretty rare nowadays. The last action film I saw that asked me to throw logic out the window and was still entertaining was Timur Bekmambetov's “Wanted' and since then hyper-kinetic films of the genre have got dumber and dumber. 'Ninja Assassin' is no exception. It's actually one of those movies you want to succeed, because its tough to remember when was the last time we got a decent ninja flick which is a poorly developed genre. I never though I'd write this, but 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' comes to mind and I'm talking the recent CGI version, not men in ridiculous Muppet suits.
