The Secret Kingdom - Amber Wilkinson - 18491
Matt Drummond
Drawing on the sort of traditional quest narrative that has transported children’s imaginations into Narnia or whisked them off to Hogwarts, this Aussie family film might be a bit derivative but it also has an old fashioned charm. Despite appearances, including an opening sequence explaining the “above” and “below” realms we’re about to see, this isn’t based on a book but all from the imagination of writer/director Matt Drummond. Whether for the pleasure of multitasking or thriftiness, he also provides the voice for not one but three of the characters we’ll meet over the course of the film.

Things begin in the real world with Peter (Sam Everingham), a nervous kid, who has panic attacks at the thought of treading on cracks, and is further unsettled by a new move to the countryside with his younger sister Verity and their...

Dinosaurs. Kids on bikes. Aliens. And a little bit of pure madness thrown in for good measure. What's not to love about My Pet Dinosaur? First look at Spielbergian ‘My Pet Dinosaur’
Its always an absolute pleasure to wake up to a cheeky email from our good friends in La-la-Land about a new movie they would like us to check out. Today was no different when we received a trailer for My Pet Dinosaur. Accompanying the trailer were phrases like “Spielbergian” or “E.T meets Pixar” says the Hollywood Reporter, and well I am totally going to check that trailer out. And you can too below:

When a boy finds the remnants of a failed military experiment his troubled town is plunged further into chaos as he accidentally makes a new friend.

I think My Pet Dinosaur looks great and definitely has a ton of potential to be a great 2017 family film not to be missed. There is a hugely endearing quality to the trailer that does instantly draw comparisons to movies like E.T, 2016s Pete’s Dragon or dare I...

First Trailer for Cheesy 'E.T. Meets Pixar' Kids Movie 'My Pet Dinosaur'
Making friends is easy, keeping them is impossible... What in the heck is this? A trailer has debuted for an Australian kids adventure movie titled My Pet Dinosaur, which is literally being pitched as "E.T. meets Pixar". The story is about a boy who befriends a dinosaur, that is actually a creation of a military experiment gone wrong. But as they grow closer, he does his best to keep him safe and prevent it from being captured. Seems more like The Iron Giant than Pixar. Starring Jordan Dulieu, Annabel Wolfe, Christopher Gabardi, Tiriel Mora, Harrison Saunders, David Roberts, and Joanne Samuel. This is made by a VFX supervisor, so he knows how to make it all seem realistic, but that doesn't make up for the cheesiness. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Matt Drummond's My Pet Dinosaur, originally from THR: Short description: A troubled town is plunged...

'My Pet Dinosaur' Trailer Shows Off an Endearing and Unlikely Friendship (Exclusive)
My Pet Dinosaur (2017)
"Can we keep it?" That question is a lot harder to answer when the found pet in question is a dinosaur growing at an exponential rate.

That's what a few kids face in the trailer for My Pet Dinosaur, an Australian film that is being billed as E.T. meets Pixar. The film is from director Matt Drummond, who also helmed 2014's Dinosaur Island.

The film takes place in a town where a military experiment gone wrong has some unexpected consequences. Against that backdrop, a young boy discovers and befriends a dinosaur, even as a military leader seeks to kill it.
