"Buried in blood, bound by secrets..." This spring, Mad Cave Studios invites readers to delve into historical horror based on true events that occurred on Belle Gunness' Indiana farm between 1901–1908 in their new five-issue comic book series Buried Long, Long Ago.

Written by Anthony Cleveland with artwork by Alex Cormack and letters by Justin Birch, the first issue of Buried Long, Long Ago will be released on April 16th, and we're thrilled to share the first details, cover art, and preview pages from the anticipated first issue!

A preoccupation with mass murderers and the people they kill is nothing new for pop culture. Audiences have always been enraptured by violent true crime stories. Still, with the launch of Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story on Netflix this year, it feels like a new era of unrepentant bloody rubbernecking began.

Dahmer (we’ll drop the rest of the tortuous title for now) was a mind-blowing true crime hit for Netflix. The 10-episode series that chronicled the saga of the Milwaukee Cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer broke all sorts of record for Netflix en route to becoming its second most popular season of English language television yet (per Netflix itself). The streamer also boasts that the Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan-created, Evan Peters-starring series is on track to reach 1 billion hours of viewings in the coming weeks. So yeah…it was a big deal.

Sera Films has optioned the bestseller “Hell’s Princess: The Mystery of Belle Gunness, Butcher of Men” with actor Joseph Cross developing and producing the limited series.

Cross will be joined by Austin Francalancia, a former film exec for Open Road Films.

Penned by Harold Schechter, the book explores the life and true story of Belle Gunness, America’s most notorious female serial killer, who lured dozens of unsuspecting men into her Indiana “murder farm.” The story recounts over 28 gruesome murders she committed at the turn of the 20th century after migrating from Norway to La Porte, Ind. In search of a new life — and driven by poverty and greed — Gunness used ads in immigrant newspapers to attract victims to her farm, where their remains were later found, butchered and buried.
