Jackrabbit Media will begin sales talks at EFM this week on supernatural horror Baby Blue, ScreenDaily reports this morning. Additionally, the website reports that Baby Blue will get its North American release via XYZ Films this coming Spring.

We still don’t know when Play Dead, the morgue-set thriller from Patrick Lussier, director of My Bloody Valentine 3D (watch it Here) and Drive Angry (watch that one Here), is going to be released in the US… but we do know when it’s going to be released in the UK. Screen Daily reports that Icon Film Distribution has acquired the UK distribution rights to the film and will be making it available to watch exclusively on the Icon Film Channel as of February 13th. Bailee Madison (The Strangers: Prey at Night) stars alongside Jerry O’Connell (Piranha 3D), and we’ve learned via Screen Daily that the film will first debut on the UK’s Icon Film Channel on February 13, followed by a UK theatrical release on March 17.

With one key exception, “Blood Moon” doesn’t really try to hide anything. The final Season 2 installment of the Hulu feature-length anthology series “Into the Dark” is even more stripped down than many of its other counterparts. In a release plan fitting for a movie about a deadly pandemic that’s forced everyone into lockdown, STX’s sci-fi thriller “Songbird” won’t play in theaters and instead will debut on home entertainment.

Starting on Dec. 11, audiences can rent the film for $19.99 for a 48-hour period. STX said “Songbird” will land on a streaming service following its premium video-on-demand run, but the studio declined to disclose which one.

“The pandemic has affected every aspect of our business, from production to release, but ‘Songbird’ demonstrates that a nimble studio like STX can find effective and profitable ways to make their movies work,” said STXfilms Motion Picture Group chairman Adam Fogelson. “The show must go on. ‘Songbird’ is a thrilling movie that will speak to audiences in this moment as it keeps them on the edge of their seats.”

Produced by Michael Bay, “Songbird” was filmed entirely during the coronavirus crisis.

ErosSTX’s acquisition Songbird will be skipping theaters in exchange for a Premium VOD release starting Friday, December 11.

STX picked up the Kj Apa and Sofia Carson pandemic thriller produced by Invisible Narratives back in August. The movie was one of the first to actually shoot in Los Angeles during the pandemic under newly created Covid-19 safety guidelines.
