New Zealand-born actor, filmmaker and published author James Morcan resides in Sydney, Australia. He has performed in various international film productions, written two bestselling novels and is a podcast host.

His most recent acting performance was a leading role in the post-Apocalyptic feature film After Armageddon which he also wrote. The dystopian adventure film was shot in rural Australia and Morcan co-starred with Berynn Schwerdt (Wyrmwood).

Other recent leading roles include the OZ-Bollywood productions My Cornerstone and Love You Krishna. Morcan also wrote the screenplays for both features which were filmed in Sydney and Mumbai and incorporated English and Hindi languages. My Cornerstone screened in cinemas Australia-wide and in selected Indian cinemas including at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Another acting highlight was playing a vigilante in The Pawn, a gritty feature film set in Melbourne, Victoria which Morcan's production company produced. The noir-style thriller premiered at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival and screened at the Imperia Film Festival in Italy.

Morcan also performed in Ben Hur: The Stadium Spectacular - which Russell Crowe starred in - to an audience of 130,000 people over two nights at Sydney's ANZ Olympic Stadium. Other acting credits include the British TV series Dark Knight, the BBC feature Wild About Harry, and TV commercials for multinational companies like Samsung and Dunkin' Donuts.

As a screenwriter and producer, James often collaborates with Lance Morcan. Morcan Motion Pictures' second feature film Desired was shot in Auckland city. The New Zealand thriller was directed by Amanda Phillips and starred Dwayne Cameron (#211). Desired premiered at Cannes Marche du Film in France.

James' published books include the new release horror Silent Fear (A novel inspired by true crimes) and the bestselling historical adventures White Spirit and Into the Americas. He also has several series on the market including The Orphan Trilogy, an international thriller series, the swashbuckling action-romance series The World Duology, and the controversial non-fiction franchise The Underground Knowledge Series. An additional non-fiction title, Debunking Holocaust Denial Theories, was written in collaboration with Holocaust survivors to document the genocide. His production company, Morcan Motion Pictures, is developing Silent Fear into a feature film and Underground Knowledge into a TV series.

    • Quotes
[on writing and acting in My Cornerstone and Love You Krishna and filming both features simultaneously] - Shooting two movies at once is an extremely rare undertaking and everybody in our incredibly talented crew was stretched to the limit. To be honest, we almost bit off more than we could chew. I probably only averaged three or four hours sleep a night over the last few months. There was literally no time to think. But in a strange way that's kind of freeing for an actor as you don't get too cerebral about the process.
