After its successful launch in June 2023, Street Fighter 6 continues to forge a new future for Capcom’s iconic fighting game franchise as it prepares its second wave of downloadable characters and content. Announced at Summer Game Fest 2024, Street Fighter 6‘s Year 2 update will feature four new fighters added to the playable roster. Those roster additions include the first-ever third-party crossover in a mainline Street Fighter game (Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui). Not to be outdone by guest fighters, M. Bison will be leading Year 2’s Dlc, returning after his presumed death at the hands of Ryu in the story mode for Street Fighter V.

Street Fighter 6 is officially here and it’s very good. Fans agree with the game seeing record-breaking player numbers on day one.
In a time when most non-Smash Bros. fighting games have waned in popularity behind larger live service and battle royale games, the latest entry in the storied franchise is looking to take back the belt and reinvigorate the genre, paving the way for other major players on the horizon like Mortal Kombat 1 and Tekken 8.

The thing about being first is that it usually puts a target on your back. For Street Fighter, despite setting the standard for an entire genre in 1987, and perfecting it in 1991, it meant that the franchise would almost immediately be against the ropes.
With its breakout followed the very next year by Midway’s splatter-fest Mortal Kombat, then by an onslaught of increasingly technologically advanced series like Virtua Fighter and Tekken, the Og combat king primarily had to lean on playing better than the competition to thrive.

Capcom has finally discussed the reason for Ken's dramatically different look in Street Fighter 6. Following a leak earlier this year that revealed the game's new and returning characters, fans were both intrigued and saddened to see Ken in his disheveled new outfit. As one of the original Street Fighter characters, Ken has always been known for his red karate gi and brazen personality, but his down-and-out appearance in Street Fighter 6 has fans wondering if he's become a homeless person.
In an interview with Game Informer, Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama and art director Kaname Fujioka explained why Ken's look has changed so much. Fans have widely assumed that Ken may have cheated on his wife, gotten divorced, lost all his wealth, and ended up on the street, but Nakayama and Fujioka say that's not Ken's fate in Street Fighter 6. According to Nakayama, the team felt that Ken's life had gotten too stable over the years,...
