Image
Prepare for an eerie escape into the heart of the Adirondack Mountains as Come Home, a gripping cabin-in-the-woods horror, makes its UK digital debut on 9 December 2024, courtesy of Miracle Media. Directed by Nicole Pursell (The Ring Things) and Caitlin Zoz, the film has already gained acclaim, winning Best Film at the Ravenna Nightmare Film Festival. Featuring a talented cast including Chinaza Uche, Sathya Sridharan, and Paton Ashbrook, Come Home blends psychological dread with primal terror.

Newlyweds Ikenna (Uche) and Mel (Zoz) inherit a secluded family cabin, hoping to trade their hectic New York lifestyle for a peaceful retreat. Joined by friends Taylor (Ashbrook) and Arjun (Sridharan), the group is eager to embrace tranquillity in the remote wilderness. However, the promise of serenity quickly dissolves as unsettling events begin to mount.

The Adirondack cabin, shrouded in mystery, becomes a stage for fear as an ominous presence in the surrounding woods begins to make itself known.

Power Book II: Ghost Ending, Explained: Will the Franchise Continue?
Image
The final chapter of Power Book II: Ghost was closed on October 4, 2024, with Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) gaining the upper hand on two of his most threatening enemies. Now that Monet Tejada (Mary J. Image
A trio of Dark Sky Films titles have made their way onto Screambox this Friday the 13th!

A young couple find themselves face to face with a terrifying evil when they venture into the heart of Bigfoot country in Willow Creek, director Bobcat Goldthwait’s unique spin on the horror genre.

“Looking to make a splash with his research videos into the existence of Bigfoot, Jim (Bryce Johnson) and his skeptical girlfriend Kelly (Alexie Gilmore) take a camping trip to the mountains surrounding Willow Creek, California, a small town where famous footage of the legendary Sasquatch was filmed decades earlier. Jim believes Bigfoot exists and is intent on finding the very spot where the huge, hairy, man-like creature supposedly strode.

But before long, Jim and Kelly are lost in the woods and discover that someone – or something – is stalking them. With each passing night bringing unknowable danger, the two must...

"Power Book II"'s Shane Johnson Says He Knew Cooper Saxe "Wasn't Going to Survive Forever"
Image
If there's one thing "Power Book II: Ghost" has proven in season three, it's that nobody's safe - not even original characters who survived the spinoff's parent series. In a rather shocking and completely unexpected turn of events, the Starz series has done away with a character that viewers have been waiting almost a decade to see meet his downfall: Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson).

For years, Saxe has miraculously figured out ways to escape a lot of close calls - including almost getting strangled to death by Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy (Joseph Sikora) in "Power" - but his conniving ways have finally caught up to him in a fatal conclusion, as with most "Power" antagonists.

After six seasons of "Power" and three installments of "Power Book II," it's nearly impossible to list all the dirt Saxe has done through the years. In the original series, his relentless hunt to...

"Power Book II"'s Showrunner Reveals Why Season 3’s Fifth Episode Is a "True Turning Point"
Image
Dark secrets have been controlling all the action so far in "Power Book II: Ghost" season three, but episode five marks what showrunner Brett Mahoney calls the "true turning point" that's put everyone on notice.

The episode, titled "No More Second Chances," picks up after the shooting death of Detective Kevin Whitman (Jeff Hephner) in Monet's (Mary J. Blige) house, with the feds snooping around on suspicion that her self-defense excuse is really a murder cover-up. There's also the fact that Monet has finally figured out who killed her son Zeke: her husband, Lorenzo (Berto Colón). Then, on the other side of "Power Book II," Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), his girlfriend, Effie (Alix Lapri), and partner-in-crime, Brayden (Gianni Paolo), get roped into a mess overseas during their business trip to Italy, as the latter gets kidnapped while on a mission for their new drug connect, Noma (Caroline Chikezie).

How Detective Whitman's Fate in "Power Book II" Season 3 Connects Back to the Original Series
Image
Another week, another major player on "Power Book II: Ghost" meets a tragic fate - though many viewers probably saw this one coming. This time, the hit "Power" spinoff bid farewell to the nuisance that is Detective Kevin Whitman (Jeff Hephner) after he overstepped his boundaries one too many times with Monet (Mary J. Blige).

Ever since the death of Monet's nephew son Zeke (Daniel Bellomy), Whitman has been hot on her tracks trying to pin a murder on her that he thinks she committed, aka Carrie Milgram's (which she committed for sleeping around with Zeke). Note: Carrie and Whitman have history together, too. Whitman, a too-dedicated-to-his-job detective, has also been working with federal prosecutor Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) and Detective Blanca Rodriguez (Monique Gabriela Curnen) to aid their Rico case that could get Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), Brayden (Gianni Paolo), and the Tejadas - Cane (Woody McClain), Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray...

Power Book II: Ghost Post-Mortem: Paton Ashbrook Talks Jenny's Secrets & Her Desire To Win
Jenny Sullivan in Starsky and Hutch (1975)
Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 has been on an absolute tear.

This season has been a thrilling ride thus far, delivering non-stop action and raising the stakes higher than ever before.

Part of that exhilarating journey has revolved around those on the other side of the drugs and murder, namely Jenny Sullivan, who has made it her personal mission to rid the streets of the murderous group of criminals that have evaded the law for so long.

We got to jump on a video chat with Jenny's portrayer, Paton Ashbrook, who was gracious and extremely candid in her responses to all our pressing questions. It's always great to speak with actors who are so passionate about the characters they portray.

This was a wonderful conversation, with some great insight into what we'll continue to see from Jenny and her storyline as the season progresses.

‘Power Book II’ Sets Opening Weekend Ratings Record for Starz
Image
The third season premiere of Power Book II: Ghost drew the biggest opening weekend audience ever for a Starz series, the premium cable outlet says.

The show’s March 17 debut brought in 5.8 million viewers across all platforms over its first three days, according to Nielsen and internal data. That makes it the biggest premiere weekend ever for a Starz original series.

Though Starz didn’t break down viewers by platform, based on viewing patterns for other premium series, a large majority of the audience likely streamed the Ghost premiere. The show’s on-air premiere brought in 362,000 viewers, per Nielsen — just 6 percent of the three-day total. That’s in keeping with shows like HBO’s Euphoria, Showtime’s Yellowjackets, and Starz’s own P-Valley, whose initial, on-air viewership makes up just a small fraction of the total.

The 5.8 million viewers also includes multiple replays on the Starz cable channel over the weekend.

The premiere episode delivered 5.8M multi-platform viewers in its first three days after it debuted on March 17, which the network says is its biggest premiere weekend ever. That’s up quite significantly from the 362,000 viewers that tuned in to the episode’s initial live telecast.

Weekend multi-platform viewership for the Season 3 debut was also up about 30% from the Season 2 premiere in November 2021. Interestingly, the Season 2 premiere drew 518,000 for its live broadcast, which was on a Sunday. Season 2 averaged a little over half a million live viewers per episode.

Prior to the launch of Season 3, Starz signaled its confidence in the series with an early renewal for a fourth installment. Season 4 is currently in production in New York.

‘Power Book II: Ghost’: Mary J. Blige Talks Monet’s Grief In Season 3; Collabing Musically Again With Method Man
Image
Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from the Season 3 premiere of Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost.

Power Book II: Ghost dropped its third season premiere on Friday titled “Your Perception, Your Reality” and as expected, it’s filled with sadness and frustration following the tragic events of last season.

Monet (Mary J. Blige) is really going through it following the murder of her son Zeke (Daniel Bellomy). She’s lost her way and healing can only begin by her avenging his death—an eye for an eye. Being that her husband Lorenzo (Berto Colon) shot down Zeke accidentally in a case of mistaken identity, things are plenty complicated.

In the meantime, Monet is so enveloped in grief that she neither notices the internal struggle going on in the family nor that there’s a new baddie in town named Noma (Caroline Chikezie) who is searching for...

"Power" Showrunner Confirms Lauren's "Exit" Is Still a "Huge Issue" in Season 3
Image
Surprise, "Power Book II: Ghost" fans - Lauren is back! Well, technically, according to season three's March 17 premiere, she never actually left. As viewers may remember, Lauren (played by Paige Hurd) was thought to have been killed off by Effie (Alix Lapri) and Brayden (Gianni Paolo) in season two's penultimate episode. After it's discovered that she's working with Ada Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) and catches Brayden, her boyfriend, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), and Cane (Woody McClain) talking about their drug dealings on a wire, Effie and Brayden, unbeknownst to Tariq, take Lauren out to the woods to kill her - all in an effort to avoid criminal charges.

Though viewers didn't see Hurd's character actually die, many believed that scene marked the end of the road for her, with Jenny later revealing that Lauren's body was found by locals after a "car accident." That turns out to be a complete lie,...

Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in Ghost (1990)

Secrets, Lies, and Murder Shake Things Up in the "Power Book II: Ghost" Season 3 Trailer
Image
Good news, "Power Book II: Ghost" fans. After what feels like forever, the hit spinoff's third season finally has a premiere date - which means we're one step closer to finding out what happens after season two's dramatic cliffhanger finale. Additionally, on Dec. 15, Starz unveiled all-new details about season three, including a short teaser that shows Michael Rainey Jr.'s Tariq getting blood on his hands (literally) as secrets, lies, and more trouble threaten to shake his world up yet again.

"Power Book II: Ghost" got the green light for season three around this time last year, not even halfway through season two. It's obvious the second installment of the Power franchise has become a major hit, almost as big as its predecessor, and much of that has to do with Michael Rainey Jr.'s Tariq St. Patrick anchoring the series.

"It's going to be a lot going on."

"Power Book II: Ghost"'s Season 2 Finale Confirms Lauren's Ending
Image
"Power Book II: Ghost"'s season two finale finally addressed our lingering questions surrounding Lauren's whereabouts. The previous episode picks up on the action that follows Professor Milgram's (Melanie Liburd) death and the Tejada family drama, but in the following one, Lauren's (Paige Hurd) body finally turns up from a "car accident," bringing her character arc to a tragic end.

As seen in episode nine, "A Fair Fight?," Tariq learns that there's more to the story of his ex-girlfriend catching him on a wire - Lauren also caught Brayden (Gianni Paolo) and Cane (Woody McClain) on it as well. In episode five, Lauren wears her wire when she stops by Brayden and Tariq's dorm room looking for the latter. There, she gets introduced to Cane as "Lorenzo." She gets intel on the wire that Ada Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) tries to use in court, but Brayden foils her plans and gets the entire case dismissed.

Minor Premise Movie Review: A Trippy Mind-f*#k
Frederick Schultz
Minor Premise plays out like a trippy dissection of the human psyche.

Writer/Director/Producer Eric Schultz admits to intrigue in this area, and with this film, he ensures many others will become equally as intrigued.

If you're a fan of sci-fi and issues surrounding the human state and why we are who we are, then you have to check out Minor Premise.

Science and the possibilities of understanding that lies just beyond our grasp make great topics for science fiction movies.

Sathya Sridharan takes the lead in Minor Premise as Ethan, a brilliant scientist battling demons that have led to him experimenting on himself. Ethan is the beating heart of this film, and if he's not in every scene, it's pretty darn close.

That means that if the weight of the film's success behind the scenes falls onto the triple threat that Schultz brings with his writing, directing, and producing,...

Sathya Sridharan
Minor Premise Review: A Brain Battles in Impressive Sci-Fi Indie
Sathya Sridharan
The most important memory for audiences to remember is the one Ethan (Sathya Sridharan) specifically tried to forget. His father (Nikolas Kontomanolis) is sitting at a desk telling him how things work in academia. Any idea, theory, or experiment that occurs in pursuit of a university-driven project belongs to said university. And since Paul is the head of the department, it all belongs to him. That’s not to say Ethan won’t get credit—scientific papers often have multiple authors and names listed below the person in charge. It merely confirms that he won’t receive all the acclaim. Nor should he. Whether Ethan cracked the case or not, the school has always been the catalyst. It’s their money that made it happen and the team that fulfilled its promise.

And let’s face it: the fact Ethan hasn’t forgotten that moment proves he hasn’t yet cracked anything.

Split Personality Thriller Minor Premise Coming Soon [Trailer]
One of the most interesting sci-fi thrillers I've seen this year is Eric Schultz feature film debut Minor Premise.

The film stars Sathya Sridharan as Ethan, a brilliant scientist living under the shadow of his famous father and trying to make a name of himself. In his efforts, he decides to test a hypothesis on himself and in the process, fractures his mind/consciousness/self. The result is that he blacks out for periods of time and when wakes up, he can't remember what happened. With the help of Alli (Paton Ashbrook), the pair discover what Ethan has done and devise a plan to re-connect the various parts of Ethan.
