Sas: Rogue Heroes - The Band of Brothers Successor Resurging on Global Streaming Charts
Image
A Band of Brothers replacement show, Sas: Rogue Heroes, is experiencing a resurgence on global streaming charts. Created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, Band of Brothers is widely regarded as one of HBO's greatest miniseries of all time through its accurate and visceral portrayal of D-Day and other pivotal moments during World War II.

While no show can truly replace Band of Brothers, Sas: Rogue Heroes is an arguably worthy successor. Helmed by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, it follows the British Army Special Air Services (Sas) throughout World War II's Western Desert Campaign in Egypt and Libya.

As per FlixPatrol as of August 5, Sas: Rogue Heroes is at the number eight spot on HBO Max's global streaming charts. It is in HBO Max's top 10 for 28 countries, including Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Sweden.

What This Means For Sas: Rogue Heroes

The show's global streaming resurgence is a testament to its widespread appeal,...

Godzilla x Kong: Supernova cast member Matthew Modine explains why he did the movie
Godzilla and King Ghidorah in Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
More than a decade has passed since Legendary Pictures secured the rights to Godzilla and other characters owned and created by the Japanese company Toho so they could launch a cinematic universe they call the MonsterVerse – and they also secured the rights to the King Kong character so he could be part of their MonsterVerse as well. Things got started with Godzilla in 2014, and since then the universe has expanded with Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, the animated series Skull Island, the live-action series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. A third Godzilla / Kong mash-up is now on the way – and a couple of months ago, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. officially announced that filming is underway, unveiling an ominous teaser, revealing that the film is aiming for a March 26, 2027 theatrical release, and giving it a title – Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.

BBC’s ‘Band of Brothers’ Replacement Featuring a ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Takes Over Global Streaming Charts
Image
It seems that the world is itching for a bit of WWII-based action these days, with titles like Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare toppling the charts over at HBO Max. But, for those in need of something that will last a bit longer than a feature-length telling, they’re flocking to the streamer’s episodic offerings where Sas: Rogue Heroes is finding a new global audience. Right now, the star-studded BBC One production is making waves in more than a dozen countries, including Croatia, Greece, Norway, Serbia, and more, where, according to FlixPatrol, it’s toppling the platform’s Top 10 chart.

Set during the darkest and dismal days of WWII, Sas: Rogue Heroes centers on the true story surrounding how the British Army Special Air Service (known as Sas) got its start. The title follows closely with the tale outlined in Ben Macintyre’s 2016 novel of the same name and,...

The Best Skins Replacement With 93% Rt Sees Streaming Resurgence 3 Months After Premiere
Image
A great successor for Skins UK has found a second wave of popularity on Prime Video almost three months after it first premiered. Skins is nearly 20 years old, and yet its legacy continues to influence the television landscape today. Very few shows have had the same kind of generational impact.

Debuting on E4 in the UK in 2007, Skins was a fearless and confrontational exploration of teenage lives, covering difficult and controversial topics like substance abuse, mental health, sex, and adolescent relationships in an increasingly judgmental digital age. It produced some of Britain's most talented performers, including Dev Patel, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Kaluuya, Jack O'Connell, and more.

In 2011, MTV commissioned a US remake of Skins, though it was canceled after one season following an avalanche of criticism for the show's portrayal of teenagers' lives. The Parents Television Council rallied against the series and advertisers pulled their campaigns. Now, however, more than a decade later,...

What Is The Map That Leads to You Based On?
Image
The Map That Leads to You is adapted from Joseph Monninger’s 2017 novel of the same name. It centers on Heather, a new graduate whose carefully organized European tour is upended when she unexpectedly meets Jack. Here, Madelyn Cline, popular from her role in Outer Banks, plays Heather, and Kj Apa plays Jack. Their pairing – teased in a mid-July trailer – has fans watching for chemistry, that heirloom travel journal, and sun-washed settings.

The ensemble also includes Sofia Wylie, Madison Thompson, Orlando Norman, and Josh Lucas, with Oscar-nominated Lasse Hallström directing from a script by Les Bohem and Vera Herbert. The trailer frames a summer story about plans and secrets, staying close to the book’s risk-versus-routine idea. Interestingly, the author has also explained how he built Heather and Jack around “plan vs. detour.”

Machine Gun Kelly turned down Sinners over racial slur
Machine Gun Kelly claims he turned down Sinners, because he didn’t want to use a racial slur. The 35-year-old rapper says he was invited to audition for a vampire role in Ryan Coogler’s latest movie but he declined when he learned that his character uses the “n-word”.Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, he said: “Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that. The vampire, they had me set up to do the audition - it’s the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family. In the audition, he has to say the ‘n-word’ and I wouldn’t do it.“I have a lot of aspirations to be in movies, it just hasn’t panned out that way. I’m on universal timing. It’ll align. Machine Gun Kelly Claims He Nearly Had a Pivotal Role in a Huge 2025 Horror Film
Image
Sinners might be one of the year’s biggest breakout hits, but rapper-turned-actor Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker) says he almost played a major part in the bloody spectacle—until one moment in the script made him walk away. Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, the Bird Box and King of Staten Island actor revealed that he was "supposed to" audition for a pivotal vampire role in Sinners, Ryan Coogler’s supernatural Southern Gothic horror epic. But according to Kelly, there was one line in the audition script he simply couldn’t say.

“Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that. The vampire, they had me set up to do the audition — it’s the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family. In the audition, he has to say the ‘n-word’ and I wouldn’t do it.

Machine Gun Kelly Claims He Refused ‘Sinners’ Audition Offer Because ‘I Wouldn’t Say’ the N-Word’

Machine Gun Kelly says he could have auditioned for a vampire role in Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” but he turned it down over his reluctance to say the n-word.

Kelly appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday, where he explained that he declined to audition when he learned a racial slur would be included.

“Like ‘Sinners,’ I was supposed to be in that,” he asserted. “The vampire, they had me set up to do the audition — it’s the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family. In the audition, he has to say the ‘n-word’ and I wouldn’t do it.”

Machine Gun Kelly Claims He Was “Supposed” To Audition For ‘Sinners’ But Wouldn’t Say N-Word
Image
Although Sinners has landed among the top box office releases of 2025 so far, Machine Gun Kelly had his reasons for passing up a role in the film.

The Grammy nominee recently claimed he was “supposed to” audition to play a vampire in writer/director Ryan Coogler‘s critically-acclaimed supernatural period piece about two brothers taking on blood-sucking neighbors in the South.

“Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that,” said Kelly on The Pat McAfee Show, according to Billboard. “The vampire, they had me set up to do the audition — it’s the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family. In the audition, he has to say the ‘n-word’ and I wouldn’t do it.”

Kelly appeared to be referring to the character of Bert, played by Peter Dreimanis. Married to Lola Kirke‘s Joan,...

A Magical Night With a 'Doctor Who' Star Becomes a Messy Romantic Journey in First 'The Threesome' Trailer
Image
Things are about to get hot, heavy, and very complicated for Jonah Hauer-King, Zoey Deutch, and Ruby Cruz. Vertical has released the first trailer for The Threesome, a romantic comedy that is so much more than its opening encounter. The footage teased a messy romantic journey that goes beyond sex and follows its three stars as they come to terms with what it means to be a true adult and take accountability when it matters. It's a dramatic tale all about the emotional entanglements and the consequences that arise from one night together, and it's set to hit theaters on September 5.

The Threesome casts Hauer-King as the unassuming Connor, who has long had a crush on his former co-worker, Olivia (Deutch). On one fateful night, while visiting the restaurant that employed them both, she steers them both toward an encounter with the alluring Jenny (Cruz), who had been stood up by her date.

Tyler Perry Shared His Billionaire Secret With Ryan Coogler to Get Ownership Over ‘Sinners’
Image
When Ryan Coogler walked into that make-or-break Hollywood boardroom to negotiate the fate of Sinners, he wasn’t just armed with a brilliant script and box office clout; he was carrying Tyler Perry’s playbook. The Creed and Black Panther director stunned the industry by securing a deal that gave him ownership rights to Sinners, a move nearly unheard of in studio filmmaking. But as Perry recently revealed, this bold strategy was no coincidence.

Everybody’s talking about the deal Ryan Coogler had for Sinners… I did that almost 20 years ago for Madea. I was letting him know how to talk in meetings, how to structure this deal — and to see him pull this off, I cried. I applaud this as a Black man — to get ownership.

And it paid off handsomely. Sinners, a haunting vampire thriller set in 1930s Mississippi, has become one of the highest-grossing original Black films ever,...

‘Sinners’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, Li Jun Li, Delroy Lindo | Written and Directed by Ryan Coogler

The latest film from writer-director Ryan Coogler, Sinners is a thrillingly original vampire movie that plays like From Dusk Til Dawn in the Deep South. As sinful and sexual as its title suggests, it’s a richly detailed, emotionally engaging period drama that’s packed with terrific performances and has a soundtrack to die for…and then the vampires show up and things get properly crazy.

After a brief teaser of a prologue, the film opens in 1932, with the Smokestack twins, Smoke and Stack returning to their home town of Clarksdale, Mississippi after time spent first in the trenches of WWI and then in Chicago, where they apparently ran with Al Capone. Their intention is to open a juke joint, so after buying...

The Superman And Sinners Villains Have One Thing In Common (But Most Fans Missed It)
Image
Two of the biggest movies of the year 2025, Ryan Coogler's period vampire action horror/musical drama "Sinners" and James Gunn's DC Universe jump-starter "Superman," have one very particular thing in common. No, it's not their likeliness to wind up on "best of" lists at the end of the year, nor even the fact that both Coogler and Gunn are celebrated Marvel Cinematic Universe directors. It's the two movies' villains.

In "Superman," Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor is arguably the most comics-accurate live action depiction of the Man of Steel's bitter billionaire nemesis: A seething megalomaniac whose hubris builds Superman (David Corenswet) clones and pocket universes, and who kidnaps and torments ex-girlfriends and random civilians at the slightest provocation. Jack O'Connell's Remmick, the central antagonist of "Sinners," is an equally complex and bombastic beast, but far more sly. He's a lonely and ancient, yet decidedly demonic Irish immigrant vampire who uses tricks,...

HBO’s Harry Potter Has Reportedly Cast Voldemort and These 5 Actors Perfectly Fit the Role
Image
The Dark Lord has risen again—only this time, we have no clue who he is. According to a report from Redanian Intelligence, HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter reboot has officially cast Voldemort. But the identity of the actor is being kept under wraps until the series premieres in 2027. Yep, that means fans might be waiting years before they get to see the snake-faced villain slither back onto the screen.

Meanwhile, Ralph Fiennes, who terrified an entire generation as You-Know-Who, won’t be returning this time. But he did leave behind some valuable advice, for whosoever it may concern. While promoting his 2025 movie, 28 Years Later, with Et, the actor urged the newcomers to master the long, dramatic robe walk.

Make sure you can handle the long flowing robes and don’t trip over them. Practice your long flowing robe walk… Also, I wore tights. Initially, they were one piece with a gusset,...

28 Years Later Worldwide Box Office (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Danny Boyle finally returned after a long anticipation with 28 Years Later, and it did not take long for the noise to follow. A long time had passed since the first film stormed into the horror genre, and while this latest chapter might not have shaken things up the same way, it did not fall short either.

Alex Garland’s script, paired with Danny Boyle’s vision, once again delivered something worth watching. The film sits strong with an 88% critic score, though viewers have split their thoughts a bit more. However, that could not stop it from drawing crowds.

28 Years Later Worldwide Box Office: Strong Numbers After Four Weekends

‘28 Years Later’ Slashes One of 2024's Surprise Horror Hits as It Becomes One of the Highest-Grossing Scary Movies of All Time
Image
Long had many waited for Danny Boyle and Alex Garland's 28 Years Later, with 23 years having passed since the Cillian Murphy-led first. Perhaps not hitting the heights of the genre-changing original, this 2025 installment still impressed many, earning an 88% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics, albeit with audience reception proving more varied. Starring the likes of Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Jack O’Connell, and more, the movie has also earned itself fair financial success to date, across four weekends at the box office thus far.

In total, 28 Years Later has accumulated $139.2 million in global revenue as of the time of writing, 2.3 times its reported budget. Split between a $66.6 million domestic haul and a further $72.6 million from overseas markets, this total is enough to help 28 Years Later to impressive box office heights, including teetering on the edge of the 75 highest-grossing horror movies of all time worldwide. New Details Emerge About Upcoming ‘Clayface’ Horror Movie
Image
A new Clayface movie is officially on the way, and fresh reports are giving fans a clearer picture of what to expect. According to Nexus Point News, the film will tell a dark and disturbing story about a struggling Hollywood actor who ends up turning into a monster made of clay.

DC Studios has described the film as an R-rated body horror that will show the tragic origins of one of Batman’s classic villains.

The movie was originally thought up by horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan, known for Doctor Sleep and The Haunting of Hill House. Flanagan first became interested in Clayface back in 2021 and kept pitching his idea to DC. In March 2023, Flanagan and his producing partner Trevor Macy met with DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran to talk about the project.

Reports say that from the start, the idea was for Clayface to be more than just a typical villain.

New Reports Reveal Details About Upcoming ‘Clayface’ Movie
Image
A new Clayface movie is officially happening, and now fresh details are coming out about what fans can expect from the film. New report from Nexus Point News claims Clayface will be a dark, body horror story about a struggling actor who ends up becoming a monster made entirely of clay.

The movie was first imagined by filmmaker Mike Flanagan, known for The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep. Flanagan had been interested in Clayface since 2021 and pitched the idea to DC several times.

In 2023, he met with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran to discuss the project. Interestingly, Clayface won’t be a typical villain in this film, which is different from how he’s usually shown in the comics. Safran has compared the tone of the movie to the classic horror film The Fly from 1986.

In December 2024, DC Studios finally approved Flanagan’s script and...

28 Years Later has passed a major milestone that few 2025 horror movies have. The movie, which was directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, is the third installment in the post-apocalyptic horror franchise that kicked off with 28 Days Later in 2002.

2025's 28 Years Later takes place in a Britain that has been ravaged by the Rage virus for the better part of three decades and follows the adventures of Spike (Alfie Williams), a 12-year-old boy who grew up on the fortified island of Lindisfarne. The cast also includes Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Edvin Ryding, and Jack O'Connell.

Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, 28 Years Later is projected to close out its fourth weekend at the domestic box office with a 3-day total of $2.7 million. This is set to push its cumulative domestic gross to a total of $65.7 million.

In addition to being the 15th...

New Blade update may have confirmed the Marvel movie's fate
Image
Marvel Studios' Blade movie has been trapped in development Hell since it was announced all the way back in 2019. The Marvel Cinematic Universe movie has went through multiple directors, as well as some reported rewrites, but it hasn't come to fruition yet - in spite of having a 2025 release date once upon a time. However, it has now been revealed that costumes which were created for the as-of-yet unmade MCU film were used in Sinners, which was released earlier this year, and is also about vampires.

This revelation came from Sinners producer Sev Ohanian, who shared the following statement about the costumers which Ruth E. Carter originally designed for the unproduced Blade movie:

“Ruth Carter was working on the Blade movie that ended up not shooting... At one point that movie was going to deal with, and she’s talked about this before, but at one point that film was...

The Sequel to Dan Stevens' 89% Rotten Tomatoes Action Epic Gets a Titanic Filming Update
Image
It might still be a long way out before Godzilla x Kong: Supernova roars into theaters, but any sort of update on a MonsterVerse project is always welcome. Filming on the sixth installment of the franchise kicked off in April on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Fans even got an early look at the production when a set video depicting a disaster scene in London surfaced on social media, showing just how nicely the action was progressing. Now, three months in, the Australian leg of filming has wrapped, and production has shifted stateside in what is likely the final stretch of filming before the production segues into the post-production phase.

The latest update comes via a social media post from Ann Foley, one of the film’s costume designers. "That's a wrap on Australia. Next up, Utah," she wrote, pairing the announcement with a humorous meme of three disheveled...

Review: Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ on Warner Bros. Home Entertainment 4K Uhd
Image
Set in 1930s Mississippi, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners pulls liberally from the folklore surrounding that period’s explosion of blues talent in the Delta area. Musicians of the time, crushed by the weight of Jim Crow and the Great Depression, generally plied their wares in juke joints, and the film centers on one such establishment newly acquired by identical twins Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan), dubbed the Smokestack Twins.

The brothers fled the South as soon as they could, making their way as soldiers in the European trenches and enforcers for the Chicago mob. Now they’ve returned to Clarksdale with a lot of ill-gotten gain and even more cynicism about their travels, having found only more discrimination in ostensibly more progressive places. In coming home, they’ve chosen the devil they know.

Gathering supplies for their opening night, Smoke and Stack also source talent for their establishment from those living in the area.

Godzilla x Kong 3 Gets a Monster-Sized Update 3 Months Into Filming
Image
Godzilla x Kong: Supernova is almost done with principal photography. The upcoming blockbuster will be the sixth theatrical installment in the Monsterverse franchise.

According to Ann Foley (via X), who is a costume designer on the upcoming movie, production has wrapped in Australia and is now heading to Utah.Tess McLeod, another costume designer working on the movie, reshared Foley's Instagram Story on her own page, along with the added caption, "Homestretch!!!," suggesting that Utah may be the final filming destination for Supernova. Production on the third Godzilla x Kong movie got underway back in April with Grant Sputore in the director's chair.

While plot specifics remain scarce for the Dave Callaham-penned Supernova, the movie will reportedly feature a new cast of human characters, as well as a returning Dan Stevens, working alongside the titular Titans as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat. The movie's title,...

“Sinners” and “The Substance” lead the nominations for Fangoria’s 2025 Chainsaw Awards, which recognizes standout achievements in horror across film, television and gaming.

It’s made for a rather chaotic list of nominees, and we expect the voting to be vicious and voluminous.”

“Sinners” and “The Substance” each earned 10 nominations, competing in the same categories for best wide release, best cinematography, best score, best director, best screenplay, best costume design, and best lead and supporting performances. Nominations also include “Strange Darling,” Cuckoo,” “The Ugly Stepsister,” 28 Years Later” and “Longlegs.” Other categories include best streaming premiere, best kill and best creature FX.

After lighting up the box office with an original horror tale no one saw coming, Sinners is now claiming its throne on streaming—and it’s doing so with bite. Ryan Coogler’s blood-soaked Southern horror epic, Sinners, dropped on Max this July 4, and it’s already dominating the charts. Michael B. Jordan Movie With 97% Rt Score Becomes Instant Streaming Hit
Image
Michael B. Jordan may only be 38 years old, but he has been acting for over two decades already. He got his start as a child actor playing one-off roles in TV shows like The Sopranos. His teenage and young adult years then included parts in shows like The Wire, Friday Night Lights, and Parenthood.

In the 2010s, Jordan made a pivot into more film acting. One huge driver of this change was a 2013 independent film called Fruitvale Station. This movie got rave reviews and helped put Jordan on the map as a more serious actor.

It also kick-started his working relationship with director Ryan Coogler. Coogler would go on to direct Jordan in Creed, a Rocky reboot film led by the actor, and the McU's Black Panther.

In this regard, Jordan has become Coogler's muse. This year, the pair made another film together, which is now becoming a huge hit on streaming.

’28 Years Later’ Breaks Into Elite Global Box Office List Despite 63% Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score
Image
Despite a packed theatrical marketplace this summer, Sony’s 28 Years Later is continuing to provide counter-programming to fans of genre cinema. The movie entered its fourth week of release with over $100 million at the global box office, having already recouped its reported $60 million production cost. This weekend, 28 Years Later broke past its presumed break-even point of $120 million, as it vanquished competition in the form of Universal’s M3GAN 2.0, which short-circuited in its second week of release.

Directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, 28 Years Later is the long-awaited third installment of the post-apocalyptic series that the duo created back in 2002 with 28 Days Later. A sequel, titled 28 Weeks Later, followed in 2006. Both movies made a combined total of $150 million worldwide, which 28 Years Later should possibly be able to surpass on its own. With $60 million domestically and another $65 million from overseas markets,...

Max added Sinners to its streaming library on July 4, 2025, and the audience has not wasted any time since then. The vampire thriller, which was already a hit in theaters earlier this year, has found a new wave of popularity online.

The film, released by Warner Bros. Pictures and directed by Ryan Coogler, opened to a strong start on Max, landing at No. 2 on FlixPatrol’s Top 10 charts. Only A Minecraft Movie, still riding high from its massive box office run, kept the top spot.

One of the Best Versions of Godzilla Is Returning to American Theaters 9 Years Later
Image
The last decade has been a good one for fans of Godzilla. The famous Japanese kaiju keeps coming back in his Hollywood MonsterVerse franchise but, sometimes, Japanese cinema also brings forward a story that shows the iconic Titan in a new light, such as 2016's Shin Godzilla. The movie is considered one of the best ever made in the franchise, and U.S. audiences will finally get a chance to see it on the big screen in the best quality possible. As first reported by Variety, Gkids has acquired North American distribution rights for the movie, and will release it on August 14 in a never-before-seen 4K remaster.

Shin Godzilla has all the elements of a high-stakes alien invasion movie. In the story, Japanese authorities struggle to find a way to deal with the fact that a huge monster simply appeared in Tokyo, destroying everything in its path. The movie's approach...

Sinners Makes History With New Viewing Option for Streaming Debut on Max
Image
After its theatrical success, Ryan Coogler's hit film Sinners is now streaming on Max. This also makes history by offering a new viewing option that's never been done for a streaming release.

Per Warner Bros. Discovery, Sinners has two viewing options available on Max: the theatrical cut and the Black American Sign Language (Basl) version. It's the first time that a streaming service has exclusively debuted a film interpreted in Basl. Wbd has described Basl as a "distinct dialect of American Sign Language (Asl) with its own dynamic history and unique grammar, signing space, rhythm, facial expressions, and cultural nuances."

“Accessibility within streaming is not a one-size-fits-all approach," Wbd's SVP of Global Product Management, Naomi Waibel, said in a statement. "Our goal at Max is to make these great stories accessible to all audiences in a way that is authentic to the content and the communities we serve. Sinners...

After Commercial Success, Sinners Immediately Becomes a Hit on Streaming in Just 1 Day (But It Couldn't Pass 2025's Biggest Film)
Image
Sinners premiered in theaters earlier in 2025, and was recieved with critical and commercial success. It's no surprise that the vampire movie's same popularity would continue on streaming services.

Warner Bros. Pictures distributed Sinners, and it premiered on its streaming platform, Max (soon to be rebranded as HBO Mas), on Jul. 4. It didn't take long for Max subscribers to find the film, and it immediately became a huge hit. Per FlixPatrol, Sinners debuted in the Top 10 charts at No. 2, but it wasn't able to dethrone 2025's highest-grossing film: A Minecraft Movie.

However, it looks like A Minecraft Movie's domination might end soon. Sinners debuted on Jul. 4, and the data from all territories isn't available yet. However, on its first day, the vampire horror reached the top of the charts in 28 countries across Australia, Asia, and Europe. While that is certainly promising for the future, as Sinners will likely top the charts in its second day,...

Sinners Bought A "Warehouse Full" Of Costumes From Marvel Studios Once Meant For Period Blade Movie
Image
When the first trailer for Black Panther director Ryan Coogler's Sinners was released, many people pointed out that it had, in some ways, left Marvel Studios' long-delayed Blade movie surplus to requirement.

Coogler's horror epic was a surprise hit, grossing $364 million worldwide and receiving widespread critical acclaim. However, it being a vampire movie led by a Black actor (with a 1920s setting) wasn't the only thing it had in common with Blade.

During an interview with ScreenCrush, Sinners producer Sev Ohanian shared a "fun Marvel easter egg" when he revealed that many of the costumes used by background actors in the movie were originally planned for Blade when it was being developed as a period piece.

"[Costume designer] Ruth Carter was working on the Blade movie that ended up not shooting," he revealed. "At one point that movie was going to deal with, and she’s talked about this before, but...

Could ‘Sinners’ campaign as a musical at the Golden Globes? The surprising answer
Image
As discussed in Gold Derby's 2025 Oscars halftime report, Sinners is sitting pretty with just under six months to go for the rest of the year. Of the films that have had theatrical releases thus far this calendar year, it's the easy frontrunner for Best Picture, and it's cultural footprint is about to become even larger as it heads to Max on July 4.

At this point, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Ryan Coogler's period vampire thriller will be a contender in year-end awards.

But which year-end awards?

There is an interesting possibility for Sinners when it comes specifically to its placement for the Golden Globes, which divides up the major film categories between drama and musical or comedy. Music, the blues and Irish folk in particular, is an essential element of the film — both in the lives of its characters and in the texture of the film itself...

'Sinners' Was Able to Use Period Costumes From Cancelled MCU 'Blade' Reboot
Image
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler has found monumental success away from the MCU with this year’s vampire movie, Sinners. But, it turns out, the filmmaker wasn’t as far away from the world of Marvel as we first thought. Set in 1932 and starring Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers who return to their hometown to find it slowly being taken over by the undead, Sinners shares a surprising connection to the best vampire hunter in the business, Blade. And it’s a connection you will have definitely missed.

The infamous challenge of getting Blade back to the big screen is now well-documented, with the reboot, which is still set to star Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire hunter, having now gone through several different stories and directions. One such story involved taking The Daywalker back in time, and while this idea was eventually abandoned, Sinners was able to...

Surprising Link Between Sinners and Marvel’s Blade Hints the MCU Reboot May Never Happen
Image
There’s a surprising new connection between the movie Sinners and Marvel’s canceled Blade reboot that’s getting a lot of attention.

It turns out the extras in Sinners wore costumes that were originally made for the Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali. Marvel Studios sold these costumes to the Sinners production team because Blade was supposed to be a period piece set in the past, so the costumes fit perfectly.

This was confirmed by Sev Ohanian in an interview with Screencrush.

It’s pretty common in the movie world to reuse costumes, but this detail shows just how much Marvel’s Blade reboot has moved away from the original period piece idea.

The connection goes even deeper. Ruth E. Carter, the costume designer for Sinners, also worked on the Blade reboot before it got canceled. She explained in an interview that both movies had similar settings, which is why...
