While the animated series "The Spectacular Spider-Man" has one of the best takes on Mary Jane Watson, the show made a rare choice among Spidey adaptations and didn't use Mj (Vanessa Marshall) as Peter Parker's (Josh Keaton) primary love interest. Instead, the show focused on Peter's romance with Gwen Stacy (Lacey Chabert). In the process, it modernized and revitalized Gwen Stacy's character, who was most famous for her dramatic but abrupt death in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #121 back in 1973.
In the season 1 finale of "The Spectacular Spider-Man," "Nature vs. Nurture," Eddie Brock/Venom (Ben Diskin) tells Peter he's going to hurt the person who he loves the most. Peter thinks he's talking about Mj, and so does the audience if they knew the Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" movies. But Venom is actually after Gwen. Chris O’Dowd has joined the sprawling cast of Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial, Amazon MGM’s drama centered on the true-life story of artificial intelligence company OpenAI.
Artificial has Andrew Garfield, Yura Borisov, and Monica Barbaro leading a cast that also includes Jason Schwartzman, Cooper Hoffman, Ike Barinholtz, Cooper Koch, Billie Lourd and Zosia Mamet.
The movie is being described as a comedic drama, although it is a dramatized recounting of the tumultuous period at OpenAI in 2023 that saw CEO Sam Altman fired and rehired in a matter of days.
Altman co-founded OpenAI but in the fall of that year, amid mounting safety concerns regarding AI and reports of abusive behavior, he was ousted as the head of the company by his board. Five days later, after a revolt, he was reinstated. Garfield is playing Altman.
Details for O’Dowd’s character are being kept in a data center.

Chloë Sevigny was mid-commute to the airport when her phone began blowing up with texts from her agent and manager — first “Omg,” then “Lfg!” (short for “Let’s f--king go”). The actress, caught off guard, had no idea that nominations for the 2025 Emmys were being announced that morning. “I was like, ‘Wait, what happened? Did I get a job?’” she recalls with a laugh. “They’re like, ‘No, you got an Emmy nomination.’ I was like, ‘What?’”
The honor — for her searing portrayal of Kitty Menendez in Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story — left Sevigny both “thrilled” and stunned. “My mother’s thrilled, and all of my friends and loved ones were calling,” she says. “I got on the plane, and the flight attendants were like, ‘Congratulations!’ I was like, ‘Wow, people really hear about this.’”
It’s not Sevigny’s first experience with major awards recognition.

Although Martin Scorsese is perhaps most notable for his crime films, another theme he likes to explore is religion. Raised in a predominantly Catholic environment, religion influenced his sense of craft, with "Mean Streets," "Raging Bull," "Goodfellas, "Casino," and "The Departed," among others, featuring characters grappling with their religious convictions. However, some of Scorsese's movies have explored spirituality on a deeper level, among them "The Last Temptation of Christ," "Kundun," and his underrated 2016 drama "Silence."
Based on the 1966 novel of the same name by Japanese author Shūsaku Endō, "Silence" is set in the 17th century and follows two Jesuit priests, Sebastião Rodrigues (Andrew Garfield) and Francisco Garupe (Adam Driver), as they travel from Portugal to Japan to find their mentor, Cristóvão Ferreira (Liam Neeson), while spreading Christianity throughout the region. A longtime passion project for Scorsese, this film was his follow-up to perhaps his most profane and explicit movie,...

Timothee Chalamet was the first choice for Spider-Man (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man: Homecoming marked Tom Holland’s first solo outing as Spider-Man in the million-dollar franchise after his debut in Captain America: Civil War.
Directed by Job Watts, the film was a fresh reboot of the beloved character after Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man. While the Marvel Spider-Man films were a massive box office success, earning over $10.2 billion globally, they wouldn’t have been possible without Holland’s charismatic portrayal. Interestingly, before Holland landed the role, it was offered to Timothee Chalamet, but he was ultimately rejected.
In a throwback appearance at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, Timothee Chalamet revealed that he auditioned for the Spider-Man role twice. While accepting the award for Best Actor for Call Me By Your Name, he shared during his acceptance speech, “I read twice and I left sweating in a total panic.

"Spider-Man: No Way Home" is exactly the kind of movie Marvel Studios should be making. An event film that brought swathes of both fans and the general public into the multiplex is precisely what the company needs following its protracted struggles, which have seen the Marvel Cinematic Universe go from the biggest blockbuster franchise in the world to a flailing property that can't quite seem to recapture the attention it once commanded. When 2024's "Deadpool & Wolverine" obliterated the box office, it seemed the MCU still had some life left in it. But several middling theatrical releases and yet more dull Disney+ streaming series later, and the future of the franchise has once again been thrown into question.
2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home," however, represented everything Marvel Studios should be doing now. The film brought back a slew of fan-favorite characters from movies and TV shows past, including Willem Dafoe...

Sebastian Stan Joins Jacob Elordi and Christian Bale in Third Frankenstein Movie by Dracula Director
Rudy Jude is currently penning his own Frankenstein movie, which could star Sebastian Stan in the lead. Although the actor is yet to break his silence on the subject, the filmmaker, who has garnered laudation from Martin Scorsese for his works, told Cultura la dubă that Stan has said yes to his offer.
I pitched it to Sebastian, and he said yes. So I’ve started writing the script, but it’ll take some time.
While a release window is yet to be unveiled for the movie, if this does pull through, it’ll be the third live-action Frankenstein movie to get greenlit in the current climate, with the other two from Maggie Gyllenhaal and Guillermo del Toro.

Joel Edgerton’s Train Dreams premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival to widespread critical acclaim — the film earned a 97% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. As part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event, we are thrilled to partner with Netflix to preview a new image of Edgerton in Train Dreams, and we also had the chance to ask director Clint Bentleya few questions about the film. Bentley also wrote the script with his long-time collaborator Greg Kwedar.
Train Dreams is Bentley's first movie since Sing Sing, which he wrote the script for while Kwedar directed. When asked what Bentley took away from working on Sing Sing that he brought to Train Dreams, he spoke about bringing the “real world” into a film and allowing a movie to “evolve to accommodate the surprises of life.”

The Institute star Ben Barnes has finally spoken about the fan casting that’s followed him for over a decade, and HBO needs to start taking notes. For years Harry Potter fans have imagined Barnes as the perfect Sirius Black in countless edits, and dream casts. And now, the Narnia star has actually addressed the hype, while speaking at the Tampa Bay Comic Convention with Collider.
I found it very weird for a lot of years, because I didn’t really understand what was happening. People would sort of ask me to sign things or—and I was like, “You know what? I was in Narnia.” So for a lot of years, I found it confusing.
And then I went through a phase of being like, “Wait, I’ve been—people have sort of imagined me in this sort of old universe thing for like, 15 plus, 20 years now.” And it’s that kind of,...

Currently, only an untitled Warner Bros event film is slated for release the weekend of March 26 in 2027. The Resurrection‘s second installment, meanwhile, is set to go up against Sony’s video game adaptation The Legend of Zelda.
Plot details for The Resurrection of the Christ are under wraps. With the shooting for Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man: Brand New Day finally commencing in Glasgow, leaks from the set have started to surface, including a peek at the character’s web-swinging.

Interestingly, the swinging seems to be more akin to the pre-mcu Spider-Man movies than Jon Watts‘ trilogy, as the latter told Collider that practical swinging looked dumb and ditched the approach entirely.
It doesn’t look good when someone is just swinging on a rope. You think you’re gonna go in there, you’re like, ‘we’re gonna do it all practical. We’re gonna get a stuntman. We’re gonna be swinging around.’ It’s boring. It looks dumb. It looks like a monkey swinging on a vine when you put someone on just a rope.

Right now, the Harry Potter franchise is entering a new era. The beloved original movies are all over a decade old at this point, and they still remain a cultural behemoth. Yet still, an all-new live-action adaptation has already begun filming, coming to HBO in 2027. And that's not all: Audible will soon debut a full-cast audio drama of the books.
Of course, Harry Potter has been around in audiobook form for years and years. Look no further than the version narrated by Stephen Fry, which is probably the most famous audiobook version of the story. However, the new project being cooked up by Audible is far from a traditional audiobook; it's a full-blown, ensemble cast audio dramatization. It adapts all seven novels in immersive Dolby Atmos, with an original score and real-world sound effects.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is filming, and a new set video reveals the first look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie's web-swinging. A few details are important to all live-action Spider-Man movies, no matter if they are set in the MCU or their own universes, as was the case for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of Spider-Man.
The suit has to be exciting, with the classic red and blue color scheme consistently hitting the mark for the most comics-accurate Spider-Man movie suits. Peter Parker's characterization and the wall-crawler's powers also need to be on point. For the most part, Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies have succeeded in those areas, but the web-swinging has been lacking. Maybe not anymore.

Work is once again underway on Spider-Man: Brand New Day in Glasgow, Scotland, and Spidey is back in action as he swings through Midtown Manhattan.
Still in pursuit of the armoured vehicle thought to be part of The Punisher's new arsenal, the wall-crawler was even spotted leaping over a nearby explosion. Filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton is clearly prioritising practical action and stunts, and that should give this movie a very different feel.
It appears this sequence is being shot out of order, as we saw Spider-Man perched on top of this tank and attempting to break his way in on Sunday. If recent rumours are to be believed, Frank Castle is chasing down The Scorpion with the web-slinger in hot pursuit of them both.
There were concerns that Spider-Man: Brand New Day might be a full-blown Multiversal adventure, with Tom Holland's Peter Parker reunited with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men.

Guillermo del Toro explains why Jacob Elordi ended up playing the monster in ‘Frankenstein’ instead of Andrew Garfield.
Guillermo del Toro has confirmed a major change in his upcoming Netflix production ‘Frankenstein’, which was originally set to feature Andrew Garfield as the monster. However, Garfield stepped down from the project due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Jacob Elordi. The shift came as a surprise, particularly since del Toro and his team had spent nine months designing the character based on Garfield.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, del Toro revealed that Garfield’s departure forced the team to recast the role under intense time pressure. The revelation is all the more surprising given that the design process had been built around Garfield over the course of nine months.

It's common knowledge that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of surprises. The one franchise where quite literally anything is possible, it has been entertaining, thrilling, shocking, and surprising people for almost two decades now. And, with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars set to bring about the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga by reaching into Marvel's past, present and future, we're going to see a whole lot more of anything happening in the near-future.
Returns are everywhere in the MCU these days. Remember when Patrick Stewart's Professor Charles Xavier appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? What about when Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spideys returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home? And don't forget those multiple Deadpool and Wolverine cameos?Well, something tells us that Avengers: Doomsday is going to have even more than those combined.

As you can see, Holland is wearing a protective face covering under the web-slinger's mask, which means it doesn't conform too closely to the shape of his head and retains a smooth, comic book-like surface. However, we see this headgear extends around the actor's jaw in a way that ensures that when Spidey speaks, the mask will move at the same time as his mouth.

Tom Holland leapt onto an overturned armored truck in central Glasgow this week, filming scenes for Spider-Man: Brand New Day while wearing a revamped red-and-blue suit with raised webbing that nods to predecessors worn by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Storefronts and street signs were redressed to mimic Lower Manhattan, complete with damaged taxis and NYPD cruisers that had extras scrambling from an unseen threat. Industry photos confirm the costume’s larger chest emblem and external web-shooters, visual cues intended to mark what Holland has called “a fresh start” for the wall-crawler after the memory-wipe finale of No Way Home.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton took over after Jon Watts opted out, saying the pressure to top the 2021 trilogy capper would be “near impossible.” The shoot reunites Holland with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon and adds Sadie Sink—sparking fandom chatter that she could debut as Felicia Hardy, better known as Black...

The Spider-Senses of the residents of Glasgow, Scotland, must have been tingling at full intensity over the weekend as filming on Spider-Man: Brand New Day began, and in some brand-new, never-before-seen footage (below), Tom Holland’s beloved wallcrawler, Peter Parker, can be seen battling something or someone on top of what appears to be a tank in his beautiful new blue and red Spider-Man costume. Holland can be seen with and without his trademark mask as the actor performs some harrowing wirework in broad daylight. Holland, who has portrayed the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Sony’s version of the character since appearing for the first time nearly 10 years ago on-screen in Captain America: Civil War (2016), is ecstatic to play the young hero again. Holland said in an interview on Flip Your Wig (via @thisismax):
"I'm obviously over the moon and so excited. Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal.
