Nice Girls Don’t Win: ‘Survivor’s Beyoncé’ Parvati Shallow Launches New Memoir
Image
Parvati Shallow didn’t just win Survivor; she also rewrote the rules to play it, gracefully, ruthlessly, and unapologetically. Now she’s back in the spotlight for a very different reason: a memoir that isn’t about gameplay but about life, loss, and transformation. Titled Nice Girls Don’t Win, it isn’t your typical reality star cash-in. It’s raw and something deeply personal for the Survivor winner.

Launching the memoir with a drag show tribute, she reminded everyone that she’s still got it. And just like Beyoncé raised the bar for pop music, Shallow changed the definition of what a female Survivor threat looked like. Though everything was not as easy as it seemed, CBS did ask her to do a lot of edits before publishing.

Jeff Probst on the future of ‘Survivor’ and which moment he thought ‘doomed’ the show 25 years ago
Image
Jeff Probst celebrated 25 years of Survivor at the American Cinematheque's "This Is Not a Fiction" festival on April 13. CBS' landmark reality TV show launched on May 31, 2000, and is currently midway through its 48th season, with more on the horizon — Season 50 in 2026 will be an all-stars cycle in which the fans have all power.

During the hour-long panel at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, Probst talked about how Survivor has evolved from a social experiment into a cultural phenomenon over the past two-and-a-half decades. And it all began with an initial meeting with creator Mark Burnett at CBS, where the executives had narrowed down the hosting job to just two men: Probst and Phil Keoghan.

According to Probst, then-cbs boss Les Moonves said, "I have shows for both of them," and instructed Burnett to "just pick who you would like for your show, and I'll give the other guy the other show.

The Traitors 4 cast: A dream cast was revealed with Survivor and Big Brother alums
Ivar Mountbatten
The Traitors 4 cast won’t be revealed for a while, but it’s never too early to start thinking about it.

A third season of the hit reality competition show recently ended, with Lord Ivar Mountbatten, Gabby Windey, Dylan Efron, and Dolores Catania splitting the prize pool this past season.

Trishelle Cannatella and Chris “Ct” Tamburello from The Challenge stole the money from everyone on The Traitors 2.

Even before Season 3 ended in March, rumors began about who would be on the show next time.

As previously reported by Monsters and Critics, Amanda Kimmel from Survivor, Kenya Moore from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Nick Viall from The Bachelor were linked to The Traitors 4.

Who would viewers love to see on the show? A new list provides some more ideas.

The Traitors 4 rumors: Who will be on new cast?
Image
It’s never too early for The Traitors 4 rumors.

A new season will soon film in Scotland, with more reality TV royalty competing at the castle.

It may seem early to discuss the next season since The Traitors 3 recently ended, but the episodes are filmed way before air dates.

Lord Ivar Mountbatten, Gabby Windey, Dylan Efron, and Dolores Catania split the prize pool this past season.

The quartet made it to the end by removing the final Traitor (Britney Haynes) despite her arguments that she was one of them.

This was a much different ending than when Trishelle Cannatella and Chris “Ct” Tamburello from The Challenge stole the money from everyone on The Traitors 2.

Early rumors for The Traitors 4 cast

Many names are being floated for the new season of The Traitors. With so many reality TV shows, the producers have many people to choose from.

Where Is ‘Survivor’s Amanda Kimmel Now? Inside Her Life 15 Years After She Last Played
Image
It’s been 15 years since we last saw Amanda Kimmel on Survivor. In just three years, the former pageant queen played the game three times, but since then, she’s been one of the most elusive former players. Kimmel’s first appearance was on Survivor: China in 2007. She came in second place against Todd Herzog, the winner, and Courtney Yates, second runner-up, in a 4-2-1 final vote. The Montana native returned for the following season, Survivor: Micronesia, and made it all the way to the final tribal council once again. That time, she was part of the final two with Parvati Shallow, but once again fell short, losing 5-3. In 2010, Kimmel returned for Season 20, Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, and admittedly didn’t like how much the game had changed in the few years since she’d last played. This time, she finished in ninth place. But what has Kimmel been up to since then?...

Survivor 42’s Winner Maryanne Oketch Tricked Her Tribemates Into Not Realizing How Badass She Was
Image
Since Survivor began filming in the year 2000, there have been hundreds of players who've gotten the chance to play on Jeff Probst's beloved reality show. Aside from new fans who are still figuring out which seasons to watch first and don't know that players get medically evacuated, Survivor's viewers have certain expectations. Most notably, fans who've watched every season ever tend to draw a lot of conclusions about the type of player who can become one of the best winners.

After watching the best players and seeing who has been inducted into the Survivor Hall of Fame, many fans think that people have to be like "Boston" Rob Mariano to win. To Maryanne Oketch's great credit, she tricked her tribemates who believed in that kind of stereotype into underestimating how much of a baddie she is.

Survivor’s Spencer Bledsoe Explained How Badly The Game Messes People Up
Image
Since Survivor has been a hit reality show for almost 25 years, most fans are way past the point when they are still figuring out which seasons to watch first. Instead, most fans have watched Jeff Probst's show enough to name the best seasons, talk about the show's greatest players, and rank every winner ever. Despite that, there is no doubt that many Survivor fans don't seem to truly understand how hard the game is on the players.

Of course, it is very obvious that Survivor players lose a lot of weight, get filthy, and might even have to be medically evacuated. However, most viewers don't understand what Survivor’s Spencer Bledsoe once explained about how much playing the game messes people up when they make it home.

Survivor Hall of Famer John Cochran Says The Show Dehumanizes People
Image
In the years since Survivor premiered in the year 2000, fans of Jeff Probst's beloved reality show have witnessed some incredible things. One example of that is the fact that once players are past the point when they are figuring out which seasons to watch first, they have seen many players being medically evacuated. After realizing how dramatic Survivor can be, many of those fans understandably choose to focus on things like which seasons are the best, who the greatest players are and how to rank every winner.

However, it is pretty shocking that fans rarely think about how devastating it would be to be medically evacuated. With that in mind, it probably isn't too surprising that the Survivor Hall of Famer John Cochran once said that the show encourages dehumanizing people.

Since Survivor 47 premiered, many fans have praised the season's best episodes and how it has kept them guessing. Still, even fans of Jeff Probst's beloved reality show who are still figuring out which seasons to watch first likely wouldn't think that Survivor 47 is one of the best seasons ever. More notably, fans who know which player was medically evacuated first would likely point to seasons from the past with great players and a fantastic winner as being better than Survivor 47.

With that in mind, it is fascinating to look at what Survivor 47’s Sam Phalen said about a past season. Amazingly enough, Sam called out a season that featured the best Survivor players of all time as being overrated.

How 'Survivor' Natalie Bolton Became A Villain Out Of Nowhere Still Confuses Fans

Natalie Bolton's Survivor edit was confusing because she was invisible in the first part but became a breakout villain later on. The Black Widow Brigade alliance, including Natalie, dominated Survivor: Micronesia and haunted female players in future seasons. Parvati Shallow praised Natalie as charismatic and watchable, revealing a positive relationship between the two Survivor players.

Since Jeff Probst first hosted Survivor decades ago, the show has aired a slew of seasons of varying quality. While some episodes are better than others, it won't take long for new fans who are still figuring out which seasons to watch first to catch on to how the show generally is edited.

A perfect example of that is the fact that most players who matter appear a lot during the early episodes. In fact, even the first player who was medically evacuated appeared in many episodes which made fans care when he was seriously injured.

Jeff Probst Made A Survivor Look Like A Fool After They Complained About Their Edit

Jeff Probst made Dan Foley look foolish during Survivor: Worlds Apart's reunion by showing his most unpopular comments and confronting him about his complaints. Weighing The Pros & Cons Of The Survivor 44 Premiere
Image
The Survivor 44 premiere is in the books, and it featured a number of notable moments that showcased the good and the bad of the modern era. Survivor season 44 is the latest "new era" installment for the show. Starting with Survivor season 41, the show switched to a 26-day game and introduced a rigid pre-merge format of three starting tribes of six.

The Survivor season 44 premiere introduced 18 new castaways, as well as a number of new advantages and wrinkles in the game. Unfortunately, the episode also had more medical visits than any other season premiere, which culminated in heartbreak for Bruce Perreault, who was medically evacuated on the first night due to a head injury he sustained in the first challenge of the season. The episode also made history when Maddy Pomilla was eliminated at a wildly unconventional first Tribal Council as the result of a successful Idol play by Brandon Cottom.

Survivor 44’s Showmance Rumors Explained
Image
It's been a long time since Survivor had a showmance on the island, but rumors are swirling about a possible showmance on season 44. Throughout its two-plus decades on the air, Survivor has birthed many romances between contestants. Some have been more successful than others, but several couples from the show have gone on to get married and start families together. The most famous example is "Boston" Rob Mariano and Amber Mariano (née Brkich), whose budding romance on Survivor: All-Stars culminated with a proposal on the season's live reunion show and a televised wedding special. Rob and Amber have now been married for nearly 18 years, and have four daughters together.

Survivor season 44 is expected to become the next season to feature a showmance between castaways. Like its new era predecessors, the season will feature 18 new contestants, three tribes, and a 26-day game. Unlike All-Stars, the season will continue the new era tradition of a pre-taped,...

Survivor: Ozzy Lusth & Amanda Kimmel's Relationship Timeline

Ozzy Lusth and Amanda Kimmel met on Survivor season 16, which recently dropped on Netflix, and quickly started a romantic relationship during the game. Survivor has a history of what fans have dubbed "jungle romances" and showmances. A few of the show's relationships have made it after filming ends, with some couples still together to this day.

Survivor players are placed in tribes with strangers and are forced to live off the land for 39 days. They all compete in challenges to win rewards and immunity in the hopes of becoming the sole Survivor with a prize of 1,000,000. A big part of Survivor is playing a good social game and making connections with the other players. Some castaways from romantic alliances and Survivor season 16 even gave way to an all-couples alliance of Ozzy, Amanda, James Clement, and Parvati Shallow, who almost won Survivor season 40.

Survivor: 10 Castaways Who Hacked Challenges
Image
Survivor has changed quite a bit since its premiere. It is hard to believe the popular reality TV series has been on the air for more than 20 years. With 43 seasons and counting, the show has introduced hundreds of great contestants and, of course, iconic physical challenges. Over the years, some of the game's most clever players figured out creative ways to outwit the game's challenges in ways other than how they were designed to be won.

These challenge hacks have occurred in both tribal challenges and individual challenges. A few happened early in the game, while others came about during the final immunity challenge and helped the player win the season. No matter what the circumstances, these castaways had to think on their feet to come up with these clever hacks.

Survivor: 10 Old-School Players Who Could Win In The Modern Era
Image
Survivor 43 is in full swing, and the intrigue has reached a fever pitch. This season is another entry in the new, post-covid era of the show that has brought some major changes in the game's format. There are new twists such as the "knowledge is power" advantage. Crucially, the season has been shortened to 26 days, but the conditions are tougher.

All of these new changes have fans thinking about which Survivor legends could succeed in this new format. Back in the earlier days, the only advantage was the hidden immunity idol and the seasons lasted 39 days. Some former contestants' gameplay would not carry over to the new structure, but there are some who could do very well in the new era.

Russell Hantz

Russell is one of Survivor's most notorious villains of all time. He has been on the show three times on Samoa, Heroes vs. Villains, and Redemption Island.

One and done: These 12 ‘Survivor’ winners never returned — Vecepia Towery, Bob Crowley, Mike Holloway …
Image
As the old saying goes, once you reach the top, the only way to go is down. Perhaps that’s a part of the reason why so many “Survivor” winners never returned to play again. There have been 39 winners over the past 41 seasons, and of those a whopping 27 played multiple times. Thus, over the past two decades, 12 “Survivor” champions took home the 1 million check and never looked back — or were never asked back. See the full list below.

Several winners found success on their second go-around, like Amber Brkich (“All-Stars”) and Parvati Shallow (“Micronesia”). For others it took a long while to get there, like Rob Mariano (“Redemption Island”), who didn’t prevail until his fourth season.

Some of the most recent champs like Chris Underwood (Season 38), Tommy Sheehan (Season 39) and Erika Casupanan (Season 41) haven’t had a chance to return to the game quite yet, but we’re optimistic...

Survivor: 5 Reasons Why Parvati Deserved to Win Micronesia (& 5 Why Amanda Should’ve)
Parvati Shallow
The 16th season of Survivor brought long-time fans of the show to Micronesia to play against fan favorites from previous seasons. Parvati Shallow entered on the returnee side after coming sixth in Survivor: China. Amanda Kimmel was the runner-up in the season right before Micronesia. Losing to her greatest ally after playing a stellar game had her fans already convinced she’d been robbed once, and Survivor: Micronesia left them thinking it had happened again.

Several of the career highlights that won Parvati five of seven jury votes were Amanda’s highlights, too. Their individual successes were equal in number and importance. It explains why both the fanbase and jury were so divided. Let’s take a look at a few of the factors that made the decision so difficult.

Amanda Kimmel in Survivor (2000)
‘Survivor’ flameouts: 10 most embarrassing, cringe-worthy of all time include Russell Hantz, Amanda Kimmel …
Amanda Kimmel in Survivor (2000)
Oh, we had such hopes. Only one person can win “Survivor,” so 95% has to lose, but some lose harder than others. Some players look great on paper but utterly flame out once they start actually playing the game. Others do well for the majority of the season but end up choking in the end. Then there are those who play fantastic games on their first seasons but are not able to replicate that success on future iterations. Above, tour our guide of the most spectacular flameouts in “Survivor” history.

People like Amanda Kimmel and Russell Hantz have done well in multiple seasons, getting to Final Tribal Council not once but twice. But neither was able to convince the jury to vote for them to win in the end, with Amanda in particular seeming like a frontrunner to win only to flounder like a fish out of water in front of the jury.

Chrissy Hofbeck
12 ‘Survivor’ runners-up unjustly robbed of a win: Ozzy Lusth, Stephen Fishbach …
Chrissy Hofbeck
Let’s get one thing out of the way. The winner of each “Survivor” season deserved to win, because they were able to do the most important thing in the game, which is to convince the jury to vote for them to be the Sole Survivor. Each season comes with a different set of circumstances and we can respect the decision process that goes into rewarding one castaway over the other with the $1 million prize. That doesn’t stop us from feeling a little outraged over some jury decisions, however. Tour our gallery above of the 12 “Survivor” runners-up we feel were most robbed of the title.

Some runners-up had to go up against a last-minute variable, like Chrissy Hofbeck and the final fire-making challenge in “Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers” and Gavin Whitson and the presence of Chris Underwood, who spent most of the game on the Edge of Extinction...

‘Survivor’: Top 20 sexiest females ever include ‘Winners at War’ Natalie Anderson and Danni Boatwright
Survivor (2000)
As “Winners at War,” the 40th season of the landmark reality TV competition series “Survivor,” continues to heat up we take a look back at some of the sexiest women to play the game in its first 20 years (see above). Among our top picks are five champions currently competing for their second win and the $2 million cash prize on Season 40.

Already booted from “Winners at War,” but hoping to last long enough on the Edge of Extinction island to get back in the game is our 19th sexiest, Amber Mariano, the champion of Season 8 “All-Stars.” Amber was voted out of the Dakal tribe who was worried her connection to husband Rob Mariano at Sele was too dangerous to leave around. Amber joined our 13th sexiest female, Natalie Anderson (“San Juan del Sur” champion), on EoE. Natalie was voted out first from “Winners at War,” despite her physical prowess, but has...

‘Survivor’ losers: 16 lovable contestants ranked include Cirie Fields, Rupert Boneham, Rob Cesternino
Survivor (2000)
“Survivor” superfans are currently hyped for the upcoming all-winners season, but it’s not always the case that the most popular contestant of the season is the one who wins. In fact, the audience tends to fall in love with those who just come up short of the $1 million prize, often more so than the champion. Players like Rupert Boneham, Cirie Fields and Joe Anglim will probably never win “Survivor,” no matter how many times they come back and try. Their likability is a double-edged sword — they’re genial enough to be safe through several Tribal Councils but once it gets toward the end, they’re too big of a jury threat to win. As we prepare for “Survivor: Winners at War,” here’s the ranking of our 16 favorite lovable losers we hoped would make it onto an all-winner season someday.

Survivor (2000)
In advance of this Wednesday’s two-hour premiere of “Survivor: Winners at War,” which starts at 8 p.m. Et/Pt. CBS aired last week a special look back titled “Survivor at 40.” Many of the flashbacks that were highlighted from past seasons featured more than a few standout castaways — including some of the 20 Sole Survivors who will be returning for the special anniversary edition of the show.

They ranged from devious Boston Rob Mariano proposing to wife-to-be Amber right before she was named the winner of Season 8 to nerdy fave favorite Christian Hubicki from Season 37 hanging on a narrow perch for dear life in the blazing sun for five hours just to prove he could win an individual immunity challenge.

Parvati joined the “Survivor” winners list thanks to “Micronesia” (Season 16), a “Fans vs. Favorites” edition that welcomed back 10 former players to compete against 10 superfans. In the final tribal council, Parvati beat out fellow returnee Amanda Kimmel by a narrow 5-3 vote thanks in part to her flirtatious social game.

‘Survivor’: 4 pros and cons of ‘Island of the Idols’ season 39 premiere — will it be a series best?
Ben Driebergen in Survivor (2000)
Wednesday’s season premiere of “Survivor: Island of the Idols” was one of the show’s strongest, certainly of the last 10 seasons, but quite possibly among the best in its 19-year history. We are so high on the premiere that it’s giving us hope that producers have course-corrected some of the poor editing and meandering storylines that plagued the last few seasons. Four seasons ago Ben Driebergen‘s eventual win was blatantly obvious from the jump due to his heroic editing and just last season the “Edge of Extinction” twist corrupted the tail end of a season where the story was forced to focus on endgame players that would eventually lose to Chris Underwood, a player who was in the game proper for only 13 of 39 days,

So what made us think that the “Island of the Idols” premiere was a promising start to what could be one of the...

Fans want these 5 Female ‘Survivor’ champs to return for potential all-winners Season 40 [Poll Results]
Survivor (2000)
“Survivor” Season 39 doesn’t debut until the fall, but that’s not stopping fans from getting excited about a potential all-winners edition for Season 40. In our recent poll that asked viewers to vote for their favorite Female winner of all time, these five earned the highest support: Parvati Shallow (“Fans vs. Favorites”) at 29%, Sandra Diaz-Twine (“Pearl Islands” and “Heroes vs. Villains”) at 17%, Tina Wesson (“The Australian Outback”) at 9%, Jenna Morasca (“The Amazon”) at 7% and Natalie Anderson (“San Juan del Sur”) at 7%. Many fans consider Parvati to be the most savvy castaway to ever play “Survivor,” thanks in part to the effortless way in which she convinced Erik Reichenbach to give up his immunity necklace in “Fans vs. Favorites.” Parvati and her fellow femme fatales then promptly voted him out. Wendy Diaz in Survivor (2000)
‘Survivor’ 38: Did Wendy cluck up? And why does the existence of chickens often create a ruckus among castaways?
Wendy Diaz in Survivor (2000)
You would think that Manu tribe member Wendy Diaz had enough to worry about after she injured her ankle last week during a reward challenge on “Survivor: Edge of Extinction.” But she was more concerned about the fate of the reward – namely a clutch of chickens. But while Dan “The Wardog” DaSilva was practically smacking his lips at the prospect that meat might be in reach, Wendy was plotting to save the poultry’s necks. “The players signed up for this game, not the chickens, so why should they be penalized,” Wendy explained, which is a bit odd since she is neither a vegetarian nor a vegan and normally eats chicken back home. We must invoke another bird — cuckoo!

New Details Revealed For The Karate Kid Sequel Series and a Bts Photo of Ralph Macchio and William Zabka
One series that I'm extremely excited about seeing is the Karate Kid sequel series being developed for YouTube Red called Cobra Kai. The fact that we are actually going to get to see what happened to these classic characters all these years later is so freakin' cool!

It's already been revealed that Ralph Macchio and William Zabka are reprising their roles as Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence. You can see them in a behind-the-scene photo that was released above.

The series was also described as a half-hour comedy with heart, and the story is set 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. It "revolves around a down and out Johnny who, seeking redemption, reopens the infamous Cobra Kai dojo. It reignites his rivalry with a now-successful Daniel, who has been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi (the late...

President Obama Signs Sexual Assault Survivors Bill of Rights Into Law

On Friday, President Obama signed the Sexual Assault Survivor Bill of Rights — also known as H.R. 5578 — into law.

The bill received bipartisan support, passing unanimously through both the Senate and the House of Representatives. The bill was written and championed by Nguyen — a rape survivor — and the advocacy organization she created, Rise.

12 (sort of) memorable soap star singles

Den Of Geek raises a glass to some lesser-known soap star pop singles, from Coronation Street to Neighbours and more...

“Do you remember the guy who played that guy in that thing? His song was good wasn't it?”

'The Voice' Recap: Battle Rounds Part 1 - Gwen Steals A Country Artist From Team Blake
The Voice battle rounds began, putting coaches Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine in the hot seat, and prompting some surprising steals.

Team Pharrell: Elyjuh René vs. Maiya Sykes

Team Pharrell kicked the night off with the very first battle, pitting Elyjuh René up against Maiya Sykes, a four-chair turn around. Elyjuh screamed with joy, and even began to tear up a little, when he saw Alicia Keys in the room. Not only that, but the duo was tasked with singing Keys’ own “If I Ain’t Got You” – with Alicia Keys sitting behind the piano. Sykes seemed like the favorite to win in rehearsals, but she was gracious, giving Elyjuh some help hitting the high notes.

Both gave strong performances, but in the end Pharrell stuck with Elyjuh, impressed with how he handled the high notes, saying he wanted to see how much he’d grow.
