Spider-man: No Way Home Led To A Big Change For How The Sentry Was Portrayed In Thunderbolts*
Image
The comic book version of The Sentry has a complicated past. He debuted in 2000's Sentry #1 by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee, and the danger posed by The Void—both in the past and present—led to Robert Reynolds having to make the world forget he existed...twice.

The character eventually returned in the pages of Brian Michael Bendis' New Avengers, only for The Void to once again rear its ugly head (leaving Thor with no other choice than to kill the Golden Guardian during Siege).

Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier and actor Lewis Pullman turned to those early Sentry comics for inspiration, but there was one element the filmmaker knew wouldn't be a good fit for The Sentry's MCU debut.

"Obviously, we couldn’t tell that same story because of Spider-Man: No Way Home," he told Marvel.com of the notion that the world might have forgotten about The Sentry's existence.

This Bizarre Marvel Theory is Too Weird Even For Rick and Morty
Image
Usually, when ‘Marvel Comics’ and ‘Rick and Morty’ find themselves being referenced in the same sentence, it’s because Rick and Morty has done a parody of Marvel in some form or fashion, or Marvel has introduced characters reminiscent of those in Rick and Morty. What’s decidedly out of the norm is the idea that Marvel Comics is somehow even weirder than Rick and Morty, even in a case where two nearly identical events occur in both established universes. But, if one bizarre theory is correct, that unusual circumstance would become a simple fact.

In Sentry Vol. 2 by Paul Jenkins and John Romita, Jr., Robert Reynolds and his heroic alter ego, the Sentry, are trying to figure out how their third alter ego, the Void, is murdering people all over the world despite being locked up in their basement. The Void is the evil counterpart of the Sentry, and...

Thunderbolts*: David Harbour Delves Into the Asterisk's Meaning
Image
Thunderbolts* star and Red Guardian actor David Harbour touched upon the asterisk's meaning. Before this, Harbour teased why the asterisk is included.

Harbour brought this subject up in an interview with Omelete at D23 Brazil, avowing that he thinks it "relates to the whole movie," going on to further note, "Sometimes, like, when I'm on Twitter or something, and somebody says, you know, 'You're a jerk, but they spell it Y-o-u-r. And then someone comes in the comments and puts Y-o-u-apostrophe-r-e asterisk. They say 'You're wrong. That's not how you spell it.'" He concluded, "Things may not be what they seem to be."

Thunderbolts* Star Finally Confirms What Everyone Suspected About 1 Character
Image
Though Thunderbolts* confirmed Lewis Pullman's involvement long ago, the actor continues to deny widespread reports about who he'll portray in the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster. Amid longstanding speculation that Pullman will play the Sentry in the film, one of his co-stars lets the proverbial cat out of the bag.

Speaking with Omelete at D23 Brazil, Thunderbolts* star David Harbour revealed that Pullman's Bob in the upcoming movie is the Sentry, something fans were convinced of after seeing the first trailer. When Harbout was asked about the relationship between his supersoldier character, Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian and Bob, he said, "Yeah, I don't think he knows what to make of that. I mean, again, we'll have to see how it unfolds with all of that." However, he added, "I don't think you guys know much about Bob/Sentry yet, so you'll have to see what that becomes in this movie.

Spider-Man: No Way Home Secretly Set Up Thunderbolts* Most Exciting Debut: Thrilling MCU Theory Explained
Image
Thunderbolts* is about to debut one of the McU's most exciting new characters, and his arrival may have been secretly set up and explained by Spider-Man: No Way Home, according to one compelling theory. Thunderbolts* is slated to release on May 2, 2025, starring a team of down-and-out antiheroes and reformed villains brought together by Valentina Allegra De Fontaine for an as-yet-unstated purpose. Though they are seemingly thrown together under duress, Thunderbolts* will be the biggest team-up movie since Avengers: Endgame, making it feel like a particularly consequential MCU installment.

Compounding this is the fact that it will also star Sentry, a character so powerful that it's hard to imagine a fully assembled team of Avengers holding their own against him, let alone the comparatively weak Thunderbolts members. Sentry's involvement was all but confirmed in the latest trailer for Thunderbolts*, in which Lewis Pullman's "Bob" can be seen shrugging off a...

Thunderbolts* Will Not Reveal Title Meaning Until Movie's Release
Image
The Thunderbolts arrived at San Diego Comic-Con, with the cast of the movie showing up to briefly discuss the movie. While many fans hoped that there would be some unexpected reveals about the upcoming movie, they were mostly left disappointed, especially when it was announced that fans will not discover the meaning of that * in the title until the movie rolls out next year.

During the panel, the stars of the film shared some little tidbits of details about their own roles in the movie, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who explained how "Valentina is after power, control, and I would say just generally she wants to kick ass in the Marvel universe." Florence Pugh added that she has done many of her own stunts in the movie, and Sebastian Stan noted that Pugh's performance is the reason the movie is great. [Spoiler]

The Boys Season 4 may have been criticized for its slower pacing thus far, but things are heating up with every episode. The recent episode 6, which might have been the second-most shameless of the lot since Herogasm, saw fans get a clue about everything that is wrong with Bully Butcher, expertly portrayed by Karl Urban.

There is no doubt that Butcher has completely lost his s**t, and the recent episode gave us clues about the extent of the damage his brain tumor has caused. The V-ued up, former The Boys leader who was seen kidnapping Dr. Sameer Shah in the previous episode, was seen coming to terms with the two personas that have taken over his mind.

Marvel Permanently Kills Its 2 Most Powerful Heroes in Bold Statement About New Continuity
Image
The new Ultimate Universe just killed off two god-tier heroes in Marvel Comics canon: Black Bolt and Sentry. The Ultimates discover this upon investigating the Maker's Damage Control facility, where they find the corpses of these heroes on display. Killing Black Bolt and Sentry is a bold statement by Marvel, as it tells fans that there will be no easy solutions or god-level allies in the Ultimates' fight against the Maker.

Warning: Contain Spoilers for Free Comic Book Day: Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe! Marvel Comics has expanded its continuity beyond just Earth-616, as a new Ultimate Universe takes center-stage as its own separate, ongoing canon. While a future crossover between Earth-616 and the newly established Earth-6160 seems inevitable (especially given the circumstances of Earth-6160s origin), the new Ultimate Universe is currently totally separate, with a storyline thats in the beginning stages of shaping its entire continuity. 10 Most Powerful Characters Who Beat the Sentry (aka Marvel's Superman)
Image
The Sentry, Marvel's version of Superman, has an array of superpowers and no clear weakness like kryptonite. However, he has been defeated by stronger opponents. Absorbing Man used the power of the Cosmic Cube to overwhelm the Sentry, fracturing his mind and securing a victory. X-Man, with his immense telepathic and metaphysical abilities, reshaped the Sentry's memories and convinced him to retreat from the fight.

The Sentry is effectively Marvel Comics’ own resident Superman, as he shares a number of the same powers with DC’s Man of Steel, with the added benefit of not having a clear weakness. With kryptonite, anyone can take Superman down, but there is no equivalent for Sentry. However, that isn’t to say Sentry’s invincible, as a being who is strong enough can absolutely defeat ‘Marvel’s Superman’ in battle. In fact, there are more than a few heroes and villains alike who not only could beat Sentry,...

A new rumor reveals details about Sentry/Robert Reynolds' place in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie.

According to CanWeGetSomeToast, Sentry will be part of Val's Thunderbolts team during the film's first two acts before "something rips him away from them." The scooper also says the character, who made his print debut in 2000's The Sentry #1, will don a very comic book-accurate costume in the movie. Whether Sentry has a future beyond the highly anticipated Thunderbolts team-up remains to be seen. However, adding him into the mix will make for an exciting story.

Avengers DNA Theory Sets Up The McU's Most Powerful Hero For Phase 5
Image
Secret Invasion introduces the concept of the Harvest, a collection of DNA samples from the Avengers, which could lead to the creation of a powerful character like the Sentry in Thunderbolts. The theory suggests that Valentina, the Thunderbolts benefactor, could use the Harvest to bioengineer the Sentry with all of the Avengers' powers, making him practically omnipotent. The inclusion of the Avengers' DNA, including Captain Marvel's, in the Harvest creates the potential for the McU's Sentry to have an incredibly impressive power-set, making him a formidable adversary for the Thunderbolts.

Venom's Most Powerful Host Ever Unleashed His God-Tier Potential
Image
The Venom symbiote is amazingly powerful, whether worn by Peter Parker or Eddie Brock, but it gets stronger in symbiosis with its host. Combined with a human, the symbiote becomes the Venom fans know and love, but combined with Marvel's Superman, it becomes a godlike army of Symbioids.

Venom has bonded with everyone from Deadpool to Captain Marvel, but the symbiote's most powerful host was inarguably the Void. The Void is the evil counterpart to the Sentry - a hero who has tapped into an ancient power equivalent to "one million exploding suns." Sadly, the Sentry's human form Bob Reynolds is unable to handle the sheer scale of his power, fabricating an equally powerful dark persona who answers his heroic deeds with evil actions. It was this demonic villain who unlocked the Venom symbiote's full potential.

A Shocking MCU Hero Is Officially More Powerful Than Marvel's Superman
Image
Billy Maximoff aka Wiccan is among the most powerful magic users in the Marvel Universe, but showed his abilities were even more impressive than anyone realized by taking down the Sentry. Appearing in the MCU in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Billy Maximoff has shown great skill in the comics and become much more than just his lineage as the Scarlet Witch's son. Billy's skill was great long before becoming the Demiurge, and gaining the ability to completely rewrite magic.

Although Billy has defeated the likes of Dormammu, the Sentry might be the most powerful and dangerous opponent Wiccan has faced. Often referred to as "Marvel's Superman," Robert Reynolds aka Sentry's power level is equivalent to that of a thousand exploding suns and gave him strength to biblical proportions. Casting Sentry For The MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one step closer to casting one of the most complicated characters from the comics. Recent rumors have contended that the Sentry may be the threat that the Thunderbolts are called together to face in their upcoming team-up film, which is set to close out Phase 5 in 2024. While these Thunderbolts rumors have so far gone unconfirmed by Kevin Feige and the executives at Marvel Studios, Sentry, like any other recognizable Marvel hero, will inevitably join the franchise in the not-too-distant future, raising the question of which actor may step into the surprisingly complex role of Robert Reynolds.

Hercules, who made his MCU debut in the post-credit scene of Thor: Love and Thunder, is one of the most unique Marvel characters.
