Let's be honest. This premise has been done to death a million times! Dismal serves as a reminder of the some of the earlier films that came out before it. Dismal lacks the realism and the grittiness of Just Before Dawn. Dismal lacks the terrifying set pieces of The Hills Have Eyes. And it's nowhere near as exciting or as thrilling as the more recent Wrong Turn. That's not to say that Dismal is a bad movie. It isn't. It's competently made. It competently acted.
