Alien: Earth's showrunner and actors address the possibility of a new crossover with the Predator franchise. Premiering August 12 on FX, Alien: Earth brings the horror sci-fi franchise to live-action television for the first time in a new story set before Ridley Scott's inaugural Alien film. Meanwhile, the Predator franchise is also resurgent under director Dan Trachtenberg, with the animated Predator: Killer of Killers on Hulu, and Predator: Badlands premiering in theaters in November.
During ScreenRant's interviews for Alien: Earth, which already boasts the Alien franchise's highest Rotten Tomatoes score since 1986, creator and showrunner Noah Hawley, as well as actors Samuel Blenkin and Babou Cessay, spoke to Liam Crowley about the chances of a new Alien vs. Predator crossover.
While Hawley was cautious about the idea, citing that the Alien franchise has to "prove ourselves on television" first and noting his concern about a crossover could "steal some energy from the franchise,...

At first, the idea of bringing the Alien franchise to TV sounds about as dumb as getting into an elevator with a hungry xenomorph. But if anyone could translate Alien’s cinematic thrills for the small screen, it’d be Noah Hawley, who’s previously worked his magic adapting Fargo and Marvel’s Legion for FX. And he hits paydirt again with Alien: Earth — debuting Tuesday, Aug. 12 on FX and Hulu; I’ve seen the first six episodes — spinning a fresh story that combines genuinely terrifying alien attacks straight out of your nightmares with provocative meditations on what it means to be human.

Noah Hawley had no plans to appear in his new FX series Alien: Earth; however, things changed quickly when an opportunity revealed itself.
Hawley will make his acting debut in the premiere episodes of the sci-fi series he created, wrote, showran and executive produced. By his side, and also in his first acting role, is Hawley’s son Lev, 12. The elder Hawley will play Wendy’s (Sydney Chandler) father in a flashback, and Lev as a young Cj Hermit (Alex Lawther), Wendy’s brother.
“No. I mean, I’ve never done it before. It was not my goal,” Hawley told Deadline at an event in May when asked whether he had always planned to appear in the series.
He continued, “I have this maxim where I always talk about trying to combine maximum creativity with maximum efficiency. My son asked if...

Reviews for Alien: Earth are in, and some critics are facehugging with excitement.
The FX drama series has an 89 percent at Rotten Tomatoes and an 86 score on Metacritic. It takes place in Prodigy City in 2120 — that's two years before the events of the influential first Alien film. Created by Emmy winner Noah Hawley (Fargo), Alien: Earth focuses on the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the race to create new android life.
"Noah Hawley’s dazzlingly haunting epic is all about what exactly defines us as human," proclaims Brandon Yu (The Wrap).
Martin Robinson (London Evening Standard) agrees, raving, "Alien: Earth is the big win, managing to finally deliver on the promise the franchise has always had."
And Alan Sepinwall (Rolling Stone) notes, "As he did with Fargo, turning a classic and beloved movie into a long-running, award-winning anthology series, Hawley has taken a concept that has no business working for television and shaped it into something thrilling,...

With Noah Hawley in charge, fans have long expected Alien: Earth to offer a vastly different take on the long-running sci-fi franchise. Still, if the first wave of reviews is anything to go by, the Fargo and Legion showrunner has indeed put a bold new spin on the iconic property.
Boasting a story focusing on synthetics over the expected slaughter of human fodder courtesy of the Xenomorphs, Alien: Earth might not be what everyone wants from Alien. However, critics certainly appear impressed by the show.
The focus looks to be more on Alien: Earth's characters than its aliens, though the majority seem to agree that it still makes for compelling viewing. Some were less impressed (the word "boring" is thrown around), but most appear to approve of how Hawley is approaching the property.
Between this and Fede Álvarez's Alien: Romulus, it seems the Alien franchise is well and truly back,...

In just a few short days, the very first live-action episodic series to come from the Alien franchise will make first contact with FX. Titled Alien: Earth, the production is set to expand the sci-fi universe and switch up the format that audiences have been so accustomed to over the franchise’s seven standalone films. The first results are starting to roll in from critics, and it’s looking like Fargo and Legion creator, Noah Hawley, has hit a homerun that’s leaving the atmosphere. Currently, the title sits on Rotten Tomatoes at 90%, making it the highest-rated title in the franchise since James Cameron’s Aliens.
For a quick rundown, Cameron’s flick, which served as a sequel to the original, comes in at the number one spot on the franchise’s Rotten Tomatoes page, with a near perfect score of 94%. Falling just behind is the movie that started it all,...

The opening moments of Alien: Earth are a deliberate act of cinematic archaeology. We are back in the cold, functional corridors of a Weyland-Yutani vessel, the Uscss Maginot, watching a crew emerge from the stillness of cryosleep. This scene is a powerful signifier, a direct line to the 1979 film that codified a certain type of Western industrial dread. Yet, this familiarity is a feint.
The show quickly abandons the void of space for the dense, stratified society of a near-future Earth, where corporations have replaced nations. When the Maginot and its menagerie of horrors crash-land in the Southeast Asian territory of New Siam, the franchise’s core terror is transplanted into a new cultural ecosystem.
This external threat arrives almost simultaneously with an internal one: the corporation Prodigy has perfected “hybrids,” synthetic bodies implanted with the consciousness of terminally ill children. The series immediately establishes its dual concerns—the classic...

Sydney Chandler probably didn’t expect a career in acting to involve running from a nightmare she’s had since childhood. But that’s exactly what happened on the set of Alien: Earth, FX’s first live-action Alien TV series. Playing Wendy, a synthetic-human hybrid loosely based on the character from Peter Pan, Chandler finds herself face-to-face with a Xenomorph. Only this time, it’s not haunting her dreams, it’s chasing her down a corridor. “I saw this movie also at too young of an age,” she admitted during an Alien: Earth press conference. “And the Xenomorph visited me in my nightmares many a time. So, it was a full-circle moment to be chased by a real Xeno instead of just dreaming about it.” She even gave a shout-out to Cameron Brown, the actor who brings the alien menace to life: “Cam was so wonderful… He should be here.
Plot: Two years before the Nostromo fell prey to a xenomorph, the space vessel Maginot crash-lands on Earth with some very dangerous cargo.
Review: Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth is probably the most ambitious TV series of the year. Featuring top-notch production values and a budget that would likely put most other shows to shame, FX is clearly trying to turn the Alien franchise into a high-end, tentpole series—something that can do for them what Game of Thrones and The Last of Us did for HBO. But how exactly does Alien work as a TV series?
Of course, Hawley is the guy who turned Fargo into one of the network’s signature shows, although it’s worth noting he’s not infallible—his last stab at sci-fi, Legion, got a mixed reaction.
Alien: Earth definitely benefits from Hawley’s clear love of Ridley Scott’s original. The first episode...

In its very first moments, FX’s Alien: Earth feels like nothing so much as, well, Alien.
Here we are once more aboard a Weyland-Yutani spaceship, the Uscss Maginot this time, watching a rumpled crew emerge from cryogenic hibernation. Here they go now gathering around the canteen, trading jokes and complaints. And here again is a crewmember examining way too closely the creepy-crawlies they have encountered on their travels.
You can fill in the rest from there — and indeed, Earth trusts you to do just that, initially offering only brief, jarring teases of the crew’s expectedly gruesome fates.
But if the prologue confirms that creator Noah Hawley can faithfully replicate the superficial trappings of this franchise, what comes next suggests he gets something of its spirit, too. Because Earth, as it turns out, is mostly not about rehashing Alien at all. Instead, like all the series’ most interesting follow-ups,...

Noah Hawley brings a classic sci-fi horror franchise to the small screen with the lavish-looking Alien: Earth. Here’s our spoiler-free review of episodes 1 and 2:
Television spin-offs from hit genre films haven’t always had a particularly good hit-rate. RoboCop, Highlander and Total Recall all got their own small-screen shows years ago, and while there was entertainment to be found in them, it’s probably fair to say that their meagre budgets meant they couldn’t always compare to the movies on which they were based.
This is the 21st century, though: an era in which TV shows are given a level of financing and visual polish that the makers of, say, Highlander: The Series could only have dreamed of. We’re also living through a period in which TV now attracts the kind of talent that would have been making mainstream movies in the 80s and 90s. In other words,...

Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth has been in development for a long time — so long, in fact, that another theatrical film was developed and released before the show even came out. However, just as Hawley infused fresh air into other IPs, he does so with Alien: Earth, delivering a thrilling yet thoughtful blend of sci-fi and horror that was well worth the wait.
Alien: Earth Review
Alien: Earth is a prequel to the original film, set on Earth (as the title implies), as a space vessel containing monstrous cargo crash lands, setting off a fight between dueling companies to gain control over the specimens it contains. Although the concept of bringing this typically space-based concept to Earth may seem like a risky endeavor, it actually allows Hawley to enrich the world in compelling ways.

Alien: Earth lulls you with familiarity. Opening on the clinical, white-padded walls of a Weyland-Yutani vessel, we find daisy-petal cryo tubes surrounded by glowing monitors that spit text with a furious chatter. A ramshackle crew, complete with creepy science officer and grousing mechanics, eat and smoke around the breakfast table. It’s an almost uncanny facsimile of Ridley Scott’s Alien, lifted straight from 1979. But while the Uscss Maginot (history nerds may knowingly smirk) is not the Nostromo, its mission ends just as unfortunately.
The crash brings us to an Earth thus far only teased at in Alien cinematic lore — one carved up and ruled not by governments, but by five mega-corporations. It’s into this supra-capitalist dystopia that the Maginot takes its nosedive, a familiar biomechanical monster stowed in the hold.
From a parasitic eyeball to vampire termites, every one of Alien: Earth's ornery ETs is concentrated nightmare fuel...

For the first time, the horrifying creatures from the “Alien” franchise are set to cause terror on our home planet in a new television series. This fresh chapter, developed for FX, will move the action away from the isolated corridors of spaceships and distant colonies, bringing the iconic Xenomorphs directly to Earth.
The show comes from the mind of Noah Hawley, known for his work on series like “Fargo” and “Legion.” It promises to deliver a new kind of suspense to a world that, until now, has been largely unaware of the extraterrestrial threat.
This series will not feature familiar faces like Ellen Ripley or the characters from the recent prequel films. Instead, it introduces a completely new cast and storyline, focusing on a different corner of the vast “Alien” universe. The show is designed to stand on its own while still honoring the tone and style of the original 1979 film directed by Ridley Scott.

Babou Ceesay, one of the stars of the upcoming Alien: Earth, recently spoke about how his character connects to one of the Alien franchise's oldest villains. Alien: Earth takes place early on in the Alien timeline and deals heavily with the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and other companies. Now, we know a bit more about the Yutani Corporation before it merged with Weyland.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Babou Ceesay spoke about his Alien: Earth character Morrow and his relationship to the Yutani Corporation. Yutani is the name of a character in Earth (Sandra Yi Sencindiver), her grandmother, and the second half of the infamous Alien villains, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.
I don’t even want to give away his backstory … but he’s a cyborg, let’s just say that. When I say cyborg, what do you think? This is interesting. People have been saying odd things to me when I tell them I’m a cyborg.

The chilling silence is shattered. They are here. The Xenomorphs have landed. We repeat. The Xenomorphs have landed.
Alien: Earth is set to bring a new perspective and fresh storyline to honour the original masterpiece and Ridley Scott’s legacy. Appearing at the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 (via Black Girl Nerds), the esteemed creator and visionary Noah Hawley and the cast talked about staying true to the original piece of art while also incorporating a persona required for a television landscape. Talking about what it means to be a part of an Alien franchise, Hawley stated,
“Well, it’s a gift really. You know, I have a relationship with the movies that I adapt at this point and I do it from a place of love.”
“It’s been such a joy when you walk onto that set for the first time of the Majinot, which was built literally to the specifications of Ridley’s Nostromo.

The Alien franchise is all set to break new ground with Alien: Earth, the first live-action TV series set in its iconic xenomorph-bursting universe. It is set two years before the 1979 film, Alien, and takes place on Earth instead of a ship journeying through space. The show will explore a dystopian Earth controlled by mega-corporations where alien threats and synthetic life will collide.
Created by Noah Hawley and executive produced by Ridley Scott, this Hulu and FX original will introduce a new crew to the acid-blood creatures. This show is set to deliver the same seat-gripping horror that audiences have come to expect from the franchise, but with a better exploration of corporate greed, artificial intelligence, and more.
Expect more of what you saw in the opening scenes of the Cailee Spaeny starrer Alien: Romulus, but for multiple episodes and with the titular aliens. The release date is set, and...

Noah Hawley and the cast of Alien: Earth got fans excited for FX’s anticipated take on the franchise during its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.
The audience in the room got to experience the entire first episode, which arrives on August 12, prior to a Q&a that included Timothy Olyphant, Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, and Babou Ceesay.
Hawley says he hopes viewers think his take on the terrors of the Zenomorph is a little different than the franchise has offered thus far, while also paying deserved homage to the titles that came before it, especially the original Alien.
“I have a relationship with the movies that I adapt at this point, and I do it from a place of love,” Hawley said. “These are movies that I loved [and] were very formative for me, and so it’s been such a joy when you...

Noah Hawley, the mind behind five seasons of Fargo, has poured nearly eight years into Alien: Earth, FX’s bold new sci-fi series based on the legendary Alien franchise. The show hasn’t even aired yet, but already, there’s talk of a second season. Hawley hopes the first season, which premieres August 12, will prove the concept. If audiences respond well, the team is ready to go bigger.
“Season 1 is the proof of concept,” Hawley says. “And if it works commercially, then Season 2 is about building a model upon which we can envision making a Season 3, 4, 5.”
The show is set in 2120, two years before the events of the original Alien movie. It brings the terrifying Xenomorph creatures down to Earth, dropping them into a future where mega-corporations run everything.
One of these companies created Wendy, a strange hybrid being who looks like a woman but thinks like a child. Wendy is played by Sydney Chandler,...

It’s a great time to be an Alien fan. A brand new trailer was released on Thursday for the highly anticipated FX’s Alien: Earth.
