Every year, fans bid farewell to their favorite franchise or series, and 2025 is no different. However, it is rather a pivotal year in entertainment for we will be saying goodbye to not one or two but six major franchises.
Spanning science fiction, action, horror, teen drama, and more, these closing chapters have defined a generation of viewers, but it is time to bid them farewell. From Tom Cruise’s celebrated Mission: Impossible franchise to Hawkins’ final battle with Vecna or Joe Goldberg finally paying for his crimes, 2025 has already and will mark the final curtain for some of the most popular worlds on the screen.
While some endings were planned all along, others resulted from shifting corporate strategies or creative closure. Whether it’s a send‑off that feels earned or one that leaves fans wanting more, each farewell carries weight in the streaming wars. So here is an in-depth...

Production on the upcoming biopic of German rockers The Scorpions is rocking like a hurricane. Wind of Change, which was first announced last month, is already filming, and the band has just released a first look at footage from the film on their Instagram account. The film, which will star The Crown's Dominic West and Star Trek: Picard's Ed Speleers, is expected to be released later this year.
In the first-look footage, the band, including lead guitarist Matthias Jabs (Speleers), notes that their distinctive band name came about because they're "like the Beatles, but more dangerous." It goes on to show off the band's formative years, in war-torn post-wwii Germany, and highlights their desire to be "the new generation of Germans." It showcases their rise to stardom, until they're filling massive stadiums and becoming hits on both sides of the Iron Curtain: their manager Doc McPhee (West) dubs them "heroes of Leningrad.

Star Trek: Picard’sthird season saw Brent Spiner’s Data character (who has died twice over the course of the Trek franchise’s long run) become the most human-like, although still synthetic, version of himself. Season 3 of Picard reunited the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast for one final mission during which they (spoiler), save the galaxy yet again.
Spiner, per ScreenRant, appeared on The Sackhoff Show, during which host Katee Sackhoffasked the Data actor whether he would ever play the iconic android again. Spiner said that “it could still happen” and touched on Picard Season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas’ idea of a spinoff that would feature Jeri Ryan’s Captain Seven of Nine. Fans have been clamoring for Star Trek: Legacysince Season 3 of Picard ended in 2023, with online and in-person petitions.

Even though fans of the Star Trek franchise have Star Trek: Starfleet Academy to look forward to, there is one potential continuation of the franchise that fans and cast members alike still yearn for. At one point, there was an idea, from the mind of Terry Matalas, who served as showrunner on Star Trek: Picard, to create a series set shortly after the events of Picard. It would follow Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine as she captains the newest Enterprise through the final frontier. The concept would also include characters such as Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd) and Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers).
Even with the idea seemingly tabled for now, one star of Star Trek: The Next Generation, who appeared in the third and final season of Picard, offered a hopeful update. Brent Spiner, who played the android Data (among many other characters from Data's family) appeared as a...

Brent Spiner quotes Sean Connery in regard to portraying Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard. Spiner began portraying Lt. Commander Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and the lovable android became one of the show's most popular characters. Despite his heroic death in Star Trek: Nemesis, Data made a triumphant return in Star Trek: Picard season 3, reuniting with his former USS Enterprise-d crew members.
Complete with an upgraded android body with the ability to experience emotions, Data finally achieved his lifelong dream of becoming (almost) human. Still, it remains to be seen what his Star Trek future holds. In a recent appearance on The Sackhoff Show, Brent Spiner spoke to host Katee Sackhoff about portraying Data and why he decided to reprise the role in Picard season 3. Read Spiner's quotes and watch the video below:
Katee Sackhoff: You’ve played that character [Data] in like 10 different projects.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas explained why it was "terrible" to lose Picard's original actors to make way for the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Santiago Cabrera, Allison Pill, Isa Briones, and Evan Evagora were Star Trek: Picard season 1 series regulars alongside Patrick Stewart, Michelle Hurd, and Jeri Ryan. However, only Ryan and Hurd joined Stewart for Star Trek: Picard season 3, which reunited Admiral Jean-Luc Picard with his crew from the USS Enterprise-d.
Appearing on The Sackhoff Show to discuss his career, including Marvel Studios' Vision Quest and 12 Monkeys, Terry Matalas explained how he joined Star Trek: Picard as co-showrunner for season 2 with Akiva Goldsman. As sole showrunner for Star Trek: Picard season 3, Matalas told host Katee Sackhoff about having to convince Stewart to bring back the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but that season 3's budget required the "sacrifice" of losing...

Jeri Ryan addresses what Captain Seven of Nine's unheard warp command is at the end of Star Trek: Picard season 3 and the "evil genius" plan she heard about Seven's mystery tagline. Seven of Nine was promoted to Captain of the USS Enterprise-g at the end of Star Trek: Picard season 3. However, when the moment came for Captain Seven to order the newest Enterprise to jump to warp speed, Picard season 3 cut away, leaving behind a mystery that has kept fans wondering for over two years.
ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns caught up with Jeri Ryan about her role in Leverage: Redemption season 3, and asked the Star Trek: Voyager fan-favorite about Captain Seven's warp command in Star Trek: Picard season 3. Ryan says there was a greater idea about Seven's warp order that would have kept the mystery going. Check out her quote below:

Major spoilers for all 5 seasons of "You" follow.
After five seasons, the lurid, pulpy, sexy, trashy, and, yes, enjoyable Netflix thriller series "You" comes to an end. Based (partially) on the books by Caroline Kepnes, "You" began its life on Lifetime before making the jump to Netflix, where fans just couldn't get enough of Joe Goldberg, a very handsome, very literate man who also happens to be a serial killer. The twist is that Joe doesn't see himself that way. In Joe's eyes, he's the star of his own ongoing rom-com, and his inevitable victims are chances at true love. He's the type of person that describes themselves as a "nice guy" when they're anything but.
For all its flaws, "You" does an excellent job of showcasing the way people can be lured into a sense of comfort by manipulative, abusive sociopaths, especially if they're handsome white guys with a winning smile.

The fifth and final season of "You," the Netflix series that lets noted Taylor Swift fan Penn Badgley play a serial killer convinced he's actually some sort of white knight, is finally out ... which means we can finally assess Joe Goldberg's (Badgley) body count. No, I don't mean how many people Joe has dated throughout the series; I'm talking about how many people he's killed.
In case you've forgotten exactly what went down in the show's first four seasons, here's the overview. Joe Goldberg, who presents himself as a hopeless romantic but actually seems to love murder much more than he loves love, had a very difficult childhood; his biological father abused both him and his mother, and ultimately, a young Joe shoots and kills him.

Who doesn’t love the drama and intrigue of a well-written suspenseful medical drama series? As a kid, I loved Doogie Howser, M.D., and how this socially awkward teenage doctor (Neil Patrick Harris) would solve impossible medical cases despite the misgivings of attending adult doctors and nurses.
Medical drama series have been a fan favorite pastime since the first American medical drama Dr. Kildare (starring Richard Chamberlain) aired in the 1960s. Since then, we have cheered, mourned, and sobbed our way through medical melodrama in series such as ER, Chicago Med, The Good Doctor, Boston Med, House, Private Practice, Nurse Jackie, and arguably the most successful medical drama series with 19+ seasons – Grey’s Anatomy.
These medical series are typically set in either a clinic or hospital of some kind where patients are treated for a variety of ailments and medical conditions. Add in the theatrics of the interactions between the medical staff and their patients,...

Almost anyone who grew up with the Beatles knows a few key things about their manager, Brian Epstein, the subject of the new biopic “Midas Man.” You might know that he ran a popular record store in Liverpool when he first saw the Beatles perform at the Cavern Club and realized that it was his destiny to manage them. You almost surely know that it was Epstein who made over the Beatles’ image, taking four scruffy working-class rockers in black leather jackets, dressing them in collarless gray suits and giving them those fabled moptop haircuts — the look that launched a thousand screams. Or the visionary way he spearheaded the Beatles’ international career, cutting the deal for them to appear on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Or the fact that Epstein was gay, something he kept well-hidden.

"All Good Things," the finale of Star Trek: The Next Generation after seven seasons, followed Captain Jean-Luc Picard [Patrick Stewart] as he time-traveled through various parts of his life, some of which never happened. From his first mission at Farpoint to a dissolved marriage with Dr. Beverly Crusher [Gates McFadden], which we never got to see, the finale went by far too fast. There was a lot to pack in to wrap up seven seasons of a show that had garnered a dedicated fan following.
Initially, though, Captain Picard was going to traverse through a fourth time period, which was "Best of Both Worlds," bringing him back to the most horrid part of his life when he was assimiliated as a Borg. According to Brannon Braga [recorded in Captains' Logs The Unauthorized Complete Star Trek Voyages by Mark A. Altman and Edward Gross], the finale was going to play out part of "Best of Both Worlds" where Hugh [nm0215336 autoJonathan Del Arco...

You season 5 will see the return of Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), and updates confirm that the last season may be the most thrilling of all. For four seasons, Joe has traveled across the United States and Europe in pursuit of his romantic obsessions, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. Coming from humble beginnings, the charismatic serial killer has had to rely on his cunning and resourcefulness, but now that he's got his girlfriend Kate Lockwood's (Charlotte Ritchie) billions at his fingertips, season 4 ended with Joe on top of the world.
Netflix released You season 4 in two parts, with part 2 releasing on March 9, 2023. In addition to accessing a fortune, Joe was able to pin all his crimes on his student, amateur sleuth Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman). Though he and Kate took a vow to "keep each other good", season 4's final moments saw the reappearance of Joe's dark alter...

In the second season of "Star Trek: Picard," the good admiral (Patrick Stewart) is approached by his old rival, the trickster space deity Q (John de Lanice), about a new challenge. Q snaps his fingers and flings Picard into an alternate universe where Earth had become a galaxy-wide tyrannical power, devoted to the extermination of its perceived enemies. Earth had already driven the Romulans and the Klingons to extinction, and is now gearing up to execute the last-known Borg (Annie Werching). It's pretty grim. Picard, occupying the space of his tyrannical interdimensional counterpart, has to gather his friends (Q conveniently teleports several of them to the evil universe as well), and then travel back in time to the year 2024 to figure out how the evil universe came to be.
At the end of the season, it's revealed that Q only played his little time-travel game with Picard as a sort of wistful farewell.

Romantic comedy films, also known as rom-coms, are some of the most popular and beloved. From movies like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days to memorable classics like When Harry Met Sally, the rom-com genre has given audiences some of the best movies. While some might feel rom-coms are too formulaic and predictable, others enjoy them for these very reasons. Rom-coms are the perfect comfort movies for when viewers want to have a good time, knowing everything's going to end well.
The rom-com genre, for many, peaked during the early 2000s. Films like Love Actually, 50 First Dates, and 13 Going On 30 have stood the test of time and remain as popular as when they first debuted almost twenty years ago. And while some believe the rom-com genre has gone away, the 2020s proved to audiences that romantic comedies are coming back stronger than ever. From modern...

You season 4 introduces a new character to the series, Rhys Montrose (Ed Speleers), who proves to be an exceptionally insightful character that Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) can't help but obsess over. You season 4 introduces many new characters as the previous season sees Joe fake his own death and flee the country. Now he's in London, posing as a university professor and living under the name, Jonathan Moore. While trying to adjust to his new life, Joe/Jonathan begins falling into the same dangerous routines he used to.
In You season 4, Joe continues to follow Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle), tracking her across Europe. Mostly, however, he remains in London, set on cultivating his new identity. Writer and showrunner Terry Matalas sneakily included a backdoor pilot into the final season of "Star Trek: Picard." At the end of the series, after a grand threat from the Borg has been quelled, the action fast-forwards a year for a teary epilogue. It seems that the previously roguish Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) had been rushed through Starfleet Academy and was now ready for his first starship assignment. His father (Patrick Stewart) and mother (Gates McFadden) accompanied him to his first ship, the U.S.S. Titan-a, the ship on which the bulk of "Picard" season 3 took place. But, in a fit of nostalgia, the Titan-a had been rechristened the Enterprise-g.
The Enterprise-g was commanded by Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), who had recently been recommended for captaincy by her deceased commanding officer. Seven's first officer was her ex-girlfriend Raffi (Michelle Hurd), and her crew included numerous "Picard" supporting players,...

We’ve all gotten distracted watching a movie or TV show at some point. Maybe we pick up our phone or pour a fresh cup of coffee or send an email; whatever it is, we neglect to hit pause, just letting the program continue in the background, onscreen words and actions now meaningless. But Netflix has hit on a controversial strategy that is ensuring you that you don’t miss a beat of any of their content.
In a new article published by n+1 (via World of Reel), the author reports that there is a common note that is given to writers for Netflix original content that goes like this: “Have this character announce what they’re doing so that viewers who have this program on in the background can follow along.” Not only is this a tremendous insult to the writers but it serves as a way to coddle...

Netflix has played a big role in Lindsay Lohan's comeback as an actor, but her three films on the streaming service aren't all the same in terms of quality. Many of Lindsay Lohan's best movies came when she was a child and young adult, and the actor had a dip in popularity in the mid-2000s. While she never stopped acting, Lohan had a marked comeback in 2022, when she made her first Netflix original movie, Falling for Christmas. Since then, Lohan has made two more original films with the streamer, and some of them are on the list of the best Christmas movies on Netflix.
The three movies Lohan made with Netflix - Falling for Christmas, Irish Wish, and Our Little Secret - ranged in quality. None of them were ground-breaking films, but all of them had something to offer, be it good laughs or comforting and heartwarming holiday stories.

The last we saw of Q, [John de Lancie] the eternal being who was Jean-Luc Picard's constant pain in the side, he was warning Jack Crusher [Ed Speleers] that trouble was just around the corner, so to speak. Originally, Q "died" in season two of Star Trek: Picard, but the third season brought him back to let us know that he wasn't really gone, and a new descendant of Picard's would have him to contend with. That was a perfect set-up for Star Trek: Legacy, but that hasn't happened yet.
We already know that Q can go anywhere he wants. He even popped up on Star Trek: Voyager which was stranded in the Delta Quadrant, and we already know he has no issues manipulating time as in Star Trek: The Next Generation's "Tapestry" where he shows Picard [Patrick Stewart] how different his life could have been.

Jeri Ryan's Seven of Nine actually became a Star Trek captain before the epilogue of Star Trek: Picard season 3, when Captain Seven of Nine took command of the USS Enterprise-g. The epilogue teases Star Trek: Legacy, a Picard spin-off about the adventures of Captain Seven, Commander Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd), and Ensign Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) as the Special Counselor to the Captain. So far, Star Trek: Legacy doesn't seem to be happening, but fans don't have to wait for a new Star Trek show that might not come in order to see Seven of Nine in command.

Star Trek fans have been hoping for a Star Trek: Legacy announcement ever since the end of Star Trek: Picard. Legacy, which would've featured Jeri Ryan returnin once again as Seven of Nine, would have followed the son of Jean-Luc Picard; Jack Crusher. Jack would have been played by Ed Speleers once again, the same young man who played the character in Picard.
They would've likely been the featured stars of the show, but other new characters that were introduced in Picard would've likely appeared as well, like the daughters of Geordi La Forge. It would have possibly been helmed by Picard season three showrunner Terry Matalas, and would've picked up right where Picard ended; with Jack Crusher meeting Q.
Fans have been salivating over the prospect of this show for a while now, but the longer time passes, the more likely it is not to happen. It's become so unlikely to happen,...

Almost a year and a half after season three of Star Trek: Picard aired its finale, "The Last Generation," there are some actors such as Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, and Todd Stashwick, and plenty of fans who are not ready to give up on the idea of continuing adventures with the legacy characters and the newer characters that made their debuts on Picard. LeVar Burton is one of those actors.
In an interview with TVLine [via Whatculture] the man behind Commodore Geordi Laforge is still onbard for the series that would follow Captain Seven of Nine [Jeri Ryan], her first officer Raffi Musiker [Michelle Hurd], and Admiral Jean-Luc Picard's [Patrick Stewart] son, Jack Crusher [Ed Speleers].

Jeri Ryan has confirmed that she was offered a role in a spin-off series of Star Trek: Picard that was not the rumored Star Trek: Legacy, but chose not to accept it. The proposed Star Trek: Legacy would focus on Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), Commander Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd), Lt. Sidney La Forge (Ashley Sharpe Chestnut), and Ensign Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), on the newly rechristened USS Enterprise-g along with returning Next Generation characters.
Per TrekMovie, Ryan appeared at a panel with her Star Trek: Voyager co-stars Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill at Spacecon in San Antonio, TX, and she was asked about the future of Seven of Nine. Specifically, she was asked if there were any plans for a Seven of Nine show, to which she replies that there had been. She stated that she was pitched her own show after Picard ended, though it was not Star Trek: Legacy.

As the ‘fifth Beatle’ Brian Epstein, Fortune-Lloyd’s performance holds an otherwise sanitised narrative together in well-meaning biopic
British actor Jacob Fortune-Lloyd stars as the Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein in this uneven but well-meaning biopic. The screenplay by Brigit Grant and Jonathan Wakeham weaves the story in and around the two or three main facets of Epstein that are always invoked in every potted bio: he was instrumental in the Beatles’ huge international success (Paul McCartney would later describe him as “the fifth Beatle”), he was Jewish, and he was gay. It certainly unfurls itself on a broader canvas than the 1991 drama The Hours and Times, although that tight, intimate low-budget work, which featured David Angus as Epstein and a young Ian Hart as John Lennon on a weekend trip to Barcelona together, still stands up as one of the most nuanced and insightful works of Beatles-themed speculative fiction. But this one has fancier costumes,...

Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) performed a medical miracle in Star Trek: Picard season 3, but she hasn't gotten the recognition she deserves for it. Picard season 3 saw Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) reunite with his Star Trek: The Next Generation crew aboard the newly rebuilt USS Enterprise-d. In the first episode of Picard season 3, Jean-Luc receives a distress call from Beverly Crusher and immediately recruits Captain Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes) for an impromptu rescue mission. Picard and Riker then commandeer the USS Titan-a and embark on an adventure that quickly turns dangerous.
When they arrive to rescue Dr. Crusher, Picard and Riker learn that she has an adult son named Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) and that the two have been traveling around offering medical assistance to those in need. Before long, Picard and his old crew find themselves facing off against a Borg/Changeling alliance that threatens the entire Federation.

Biopic of The Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein Midas Man needed a lot of Help! to get over the finish line. Here’s the trailer.

With the advent of new Star Trek streaming shows came Star Trek: Picard, a sequel series to Star Trek: The Next Generation that focused on Patrick Stewart's Admiral Jean-Luc Picard long after Tng ended. After first announcing Picard as a new Star Trek show in August 2018, followed by a year of production, Star Trek: Picard's first season dropped on Paramount+ (then CBS All Access) in January 2020. The second and third seasons of Star Trek: Picard were filmed back-to-back to accommodate the schedules of the cast and crew, and released in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Star Trek 4 and Star Trek: Picard's proposed spinoff, Star Trek: Legacy, will have the same premise if the long-desired Star Trek projects happen. Star Trek: Picard season 3's ending set up a continuation set on the USS Enterprise-g led by Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan). From 2009-2016, Captain James T. A Star Trek show starring Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine is the franchise's biggest unfulfilled wish. Seven of Nine being in Star Trek: Picard's first season seemed unusual at first, since Seven of Nine was from Star Trek: Voyager and not Star Trek: The Next Generation. Per CinemaBlend, the actor recently appeared on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, and discussed returning for the final season of Picard, which aired in 2023 on Paramount+.
Dorn portrayed Worf, a Klingon ultimately raised by human parents, in 272 television episodes between Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and four feature films. A forgotten Star Trek: Voyager character would make a perfect addition to the cast of Star Trek: Legacy, the proposed Star Trek: Picard spin-off about Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan). Star Trek: Picard season 3 introduced some adult children of Star Trek: The Next Generation characters: namely, Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), the son of Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) and Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), and Commodore Geordi La Forge's (LeVar Burton) daughters, Ensign Sidney La Forge (Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut) on the USS Titan-a, and Ensign Alandra La Forge (Mica Burton) with Geordi at the Starfleet Museum.
Star Trek: Voyager's later seasons featured a romance between Lieutenant Tom Paris (Robert Duncan McNeill) and Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson). Despite Star Trek: Voyager's reset button often returning character relationships to the status quo with each new episode, Tom and B'Elanna's Star Trek romance lasted, and changed both characters for the better.

The third and final season of "Star Trek: Picard" ended on a friendly note. Jean-Luc (Patrick Stewart) had rescued his long-lost son Jack (Ed Speleers) from the Borg, and had finally earned a moment with his old co-workers from the Enterprise-d. He hadn't served with them for decades, but he was still close to his old senior staff. He, Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), Worf (Michael Dorn), Geordi (LeVar Burton), Dr. Crusher (Gates McFadden), and a new fleshy version of Data (Brent Spiner) gathered around a poker table for one final, genial game together. They chatted idly and laughed as friends as the credits began to roll.
It was implied that the characters would live out the rest of their lives on good terms. Picard was about 100 years old in that third season, so his story may very well be over. He had another adventure, just as he...
