Production on the upcoming biopic of German rockers The Scorpions is rocking like a hurricane. Wind of Change, which was first announced last month, is already filming, and the band has just released a first look at footage from the film on their Instagram account. The film, which will star The Crown's Dominic West and Star Trek: Picard's Ed Speleers, is expected to be released later this year.

In the first-look footage, the band, including lead guitarist Matthias Jabs (Speleers), notes that their distinctive band name came about because they're "like the Beatles, but more dangerous." It goes on to show off the band's formative years, in war-torn post-wwii Germany, and highlights their desire to be "the new generation of Germans." It showcases their rise to stardom, until they're filling massive stadiums and becoming hits on both sides of the Iron Curtain: their manager Doc McPhee (West) dubs them "heroes of Leningrad.

Totoro is making his way back onto the big screen.

As part of Gkids and Fathom Entertainment’s Studio Ghibli Fest, “My Neighbor Totoro” will be re-released in theaters across the country July 19-23. Hayao Miyazaki’s 1988 film follows sisters Satsuki and Mei, who relocate to a country home alongside their father to be close to their hospitalized mother. As the two children explore the countryside, they stumble upon creatures, including forest spirit Totoro.

Screenings will include both English dubbed and Japanese versions. Audience members can stick around after the film ends for a “Creating the Characters” bonus featurette that will include Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki.

This year’s Studio Ghibli Fest consists of an eight-film lineup, including “The Boy and the Heron” (the first time the film returns to theaters after its 2023 release).

Star Trek: Picard’sthird season saw Brent Spiner’s Data character (who has died twice over the course of the Trek franchise’s long run) become the most human-like, although still synthetic, version of himself. Season 3 of Picard reunited the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast for one final mission during which they (spoiler), save the galaxy yet again.

Spiner, per ScreenRant, appeared on The Sackhoff Show, during which host Katee Sackhoffasked the Data actor whether he would ever play the iconic android again. Spiner said that “it could still happen” and touched on Picard Season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas’ idea of a spinoff that would feature Jeri Ryan’s Captain Seven of Nine. Fans have been clamoring for Star Trek: Legacysince Season 3 of Picard ended in 2023, with online and in-person petitions.

Even though fans of the Star Trek franchise have Star Trek: Starfleet Academy to look forward to, there is one potential continuation of the franchise that fans and cast members alike still yearn for. At one point, there was an idea, from the mind of Terry Matalas, who served as showrunner on Star Trek: Picard, to create a series set shortly after the events of Picard. It would follow Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine as she captains the newest Enterprise through the final frontier. The concept would also include characters such as Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd) and Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers).

After five seasons, the lurid, pulpy, sexy, trashy, and, yes, enjoyable Netflix thriller series "You" comes to an end. Based (partially) on the books by Caroline Kepnes, "You" began its life on Lifetime before making the jump to Netflix, where fans just couldn't get enough of Joe Goldberg, a very handsome, very literate man who also happens to be a serial killer. The twist is that Joe doesn't see himself that way. In Joe's eyes, he's the star of his own ongoing rom-com, and his inevitable victims are chances at true love. He's the type of person that describes themselves as a "nice guy" when they're anything but.

For all its flaws, "You" does an excellent job of showcasing the way people can be lured into a sense of comfort by manipulative, abusive sociopaths, especially if they're handsome white guys with a winning smile.

You probably didn't find out about this part of royal family history in your World History class. BritBox has announced an upcoming four-part drama called The Lady with three cast members top-lining. Today, Mia McKenna-Bruce (How To Have Sex), Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones), and Ed Speleers (Star Trek: Picard) have cast in the miniseries. McKenna-Bruce will take on the role of Jane Andrews, a former royal aide, who in real life was convicted of murder. Dormer will play Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, and Speleers will play Andrews's lover, Thomas Cressman. Other members of the cast include: Philip Glenister, Claire Skinner, Laura Aikman, Ophelia Lovibond, Mark Stanley, Daniel Ryan and Sean Teale.

The Crown producer Left Bank, ITV and BritBox have found their Jane Andrews and Sarah Ferguson for The Lady.

Revealed by Deadline several months back, The Lady charts the rise and fall of former royal dresser Andrews, whose rags to riches fairytale fell apart when she was convicted of murder. The trial generated serious press interest. Andrews was released from jail six years ago.

A similar fate has befallen Midas Man, a biopic of The Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein. It began production in 2021 with Jonas Åkerlund directing, only for Sara Sugarman to take over later that year. When Sugarman departed, Joe Stephenson eventually took the reins to finally get the film over the finish line. In each case, the directors are said to have left over “creative differences”.

Midas Man wrapped production in 2023, and just over a year later, the once troubled movie is only a few weeks away from release.
