After more than a decade of demonic encounters, exorcisms and box office dominance, The Conjuring franchise is preparing to close the case on its most enduring characters. The Conjuring: The Last Rites will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return for one final appearance as Ed and Lorraine Warren, bringing the curtain down on a series that has helped redefine mainstream horror since its debut in 2013.
Directed by Michael Chaves, The Last Rites takes place in 1986, several years after the Warrens’ retirement. When the Smurl family in Pennsylvania finds themselves terrorised by a malevolent presence, Ed and Lorraine are drawn back into the shadows for one last investigation. While previous entries often centred around isolated hauntings, this instalment is being framed as a more introspective reckoning for the couple, delving into their legacy, faith and the emotional cost of a life spent confronting darkness.
The film will also expand the Warren family circle.

The final trailer has dropped for the last Conjuring film, and it sees the Warrens face a familiar demon.
Following the first trailer, which was released in May, Warner Bros. released the new and final trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites on Thursday. The fourth Conjuring film follows Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) as they take on the Smurl case, which involved a family that was tormented by a demon for more than a decade, inspired by a true story.
But in this trailer, we find out that the demon was one the Warrens previously encountered. “There’s something in the attic. Ed, there’s an evil here. Something I’ve felt before,” Lorraine says.
“This thing in your house is a demon. It’s the first one that we’ve ever encountered,” Lorraine says to the family before later saying to Ed, “We were young. We were scared.

Coming our way from New Line Cinema, The Safran Company, and Atomic Monster, this is the ninth entry in the overall Conjuring Universe. Entertainment Weekly recently shared that the film is set in 1986, five years after the events of The Devil Made Me Do It. The Warrens have retired from the exorcist business, largely due to Ed’s heart attack, the one sustained during the demonic happenings of the third film. They still hit the university circuit, presenting talks at various schools, but even those opportunities are drying up.

Foundation season 3 returned on July 11, 2025, after an almost two-year hiatus. The Apple TV+ series is based on Isaac Asimov’s books of the same name. The show has prided itself on its visual sci-fi spectacle and narratively dense writing that steers complex characters. As such, it is an ambitious adaptation in terms of production.
Season 3 faced multiple issues in getting up and running- there were budgetary complications as well as industry-wide strikes that complicated production and release. Making matters worse was the departure of creator David S. Goyer from the show. As such, making Foundation season 3 clearly had its set of challenges. However, despite the long gap, season 3 has bounced back with a perfect 100 % Rotten Tomatoes score.

Throughout the first two seasons of Apple TV+'s underrated sci-fi drama series Foundation, Lou Llobell's character has had quite the arc. With Season 3 on the way, the actor says Gaal Dornick is ready to take on her toughest mission yet.
Foundation Season 3 is set more than 150 years after the events of the second installment, with Dornick preparing to take on The Mule. "Gaal has grown so much, and you see her really take a massive leap into this new role as a leader and someone who’s going to sacrifice everything to make sure the plan stays on track and that The Mule is stopped," Llobell told TechRadar.
"It's beautiful to see her with all these different people (on Ignis) and the relationships that she has (with them)," Llobell said of her Foundation character's jounrney in the series so far. "But her one goal is still to deal with The Mule.

But even as excitement builds for the show’s return on July 11, the future of the series beyond that remains surprisingly unclear, even for its stars.
Based on the sprawling book series by Isaac Asimov, Foundation follows the epic struggle to preserve civilization amid the inevitable fall of a galactic empire. Since its debut in 2021, the series has been lauded for its ambition, visual spectacle, and rich character arcs. But while Deadline reported back in February 2025 that Apple had quietly greenlit Season 4 — with Ian Goldberg (Fear the Walking Dead) stepping in as showrunner following David S. Goyer’s departure — the cast still seems to be waiting for official confirmation.

Nearly 2 years after the release of the second season of Foundation on Apple TV+, it has been confirmed for a third season. The series inspired by the works of Isaac Asimov will receive a global premiere on July 11, 2025. The series will consist of 10 new episodes, which will drop weekly till September 12, 2025.
The show is known for its cerebral style of storytelling, breathtaking visuals, and a stellar ensemble cast led by Lee Pace and Jared Harris. Season two of Foundation earned and ever so rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the buzz for season 3 is palpable. We can’t wait to watch the new character arcs, amped-up stakes, and the shifts that commence on the cosmic chessboard in the third segment of the series.

Apple TV+ has released a full-length trailer for FoundationSeason 3, teasing the long-awaited return of its esteemed sci-fi drama series, based on Isaac Asimov's sprawling literary space saga. The extended look at the new season arrives exactly one month before it hits screens, with its premiere set for July 11, nearly two years on from the previous season's debut. By the looks of it, the next batch of episodes will continue the epic chronicle of exiles endeavoring to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire.
The only difference this time is that they will have to contend with a fearsome new warlord, who goes by the name "The Mule." Pilou Asbæk replaces Mikael Persbrandt as the villainous character in Foundation Season 3, and he looks to have a major role in the upcoming 10-episode arc, which is not surprising given his significance in the original novels the show is adapting.

Created by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman, Apple TV+’s science fiction series Foundation, which is loosely based on Isaac Asimov’s novel series of the same name, is ready to make a return in July 2025 for its third season. Seasons one and two have received positive responses from the audience and critics; however, some have criticized the significant changes in the story, along with time jumps and the complexity of the plot.
Foundation holds an 86% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, and some of the ardent fans, despite pointing out the changes made from the novel to the show, are looking forward to season three. However, we are afraid that the Foundation’s fate is very much like Adam Scott’s starrer Severance, post-season 1.

The Warrens are back for their last case.
Warner Bros. released the first official trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites on Thursday, which marks the fourth and final Conjuring movie. However, it’s not necessarily the last in the franchise.
This Conjuring film, like the others, is inspired by the real-life case files of paranormal investigators and couple, Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga). This time, it follows the 1986 Smurl case, a family who was tormented by a demon for more than a decade.
“Every case is different. Every family is different. Once we start, there is no going back. Anything can happen. And most likely, anything will,” Ed says in the trailer.
Lorraine hints at this one being the most dangerous as she says “something’s different” to Ed. At the end of the trailer, a demon says to Lorraine: “We’ve been waiting so patiently so patiently for you,...

The Conjuring film franchise is set to come to an end with the fourth installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which Warner Bros. has scheduled for a theatrical release on September 5, 2025 release – and with that date now just a few months away, a teaser trailer has dropped online. You can check it out in the embed above.
Up until this week, we didn’t have any plot info on The Conjuring: Last Rites, but Entertainment Weekly was finally able to draw some information out of the filmmakers. They shared that the film is set in 1986, five years after the events of The Devil Made Me Do It. The Warrens have retired from the exorcist business, largely due to Ed’s heart attack, the one sustained during the demonic happenings of the third film. They still hit the university circuit, presenting talks at various schools, but even those opportunities are drying up.

Ed and Lorraine Warren have one final case to crack in the iconic “The Conjuring” franchise. The paranormal investigating duo, portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, first appeared onscreen in 2013; now 12 years and a slew of spinoff films later, the original “The Conjuring” will close out with “The Conjuring: The Last Rites.”
Michael Chaves returns to direct “The Last Rites.” In total, the franchise has three “Conjuring” films, three “Annabelle” features, two “Nun” movies, and “The Curse of La Llorona.” Chaves helmed “La Llorona,” “The Nun II,” and “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.” A “Conjuring” series is in development at Max as well.
“The Last Rites” is set in the mid-1980s when the Warrens were retired. However, the couple returns for one last case involving the Smurl family. The Warrens most famously investigated the 1976 hauntings in Amityville, New York, which inspired the “Amityville Horror” franchise.

The Conjuring: Last Rites was supposed to be the final chapter for the $2 billion franchise, but according to the president of New Line Cinema, Richard Brener, the upcoming film will only mark the end of "phase one."
Brener sat down to chat with The Hollywood Reporter about what's coming next for Warner Bros. Discovery. When explicitly asked about The Conjuring's future, he described Last Rites as just the last entry in the first phase, although there is no information to share on phase two, which the director says is "Tbd."
In short, Last Rites is almost definitely not the last movie we will see in The Conjuring Universe, although it does appear to be the real sign-off for stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. The pair have been playing the fictionalized versions of real-life demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren for over a decade, and both shared touching Instagram tributes after filming wrapped.

There’s finally promising news for the premiere of Apple TV+’s Foundation Season 3 after years of keeping fans in suspense. The latest scoop from TVLine’s Matt’s Inside Line reveals a “plausible” release date for the long-awaited season that was announced in December 2023. Foundation is loosely based on Isaac Asimov’s series of stories of the same name and was created for the streamer by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman, who left as co-writer and co-showrunner in April 2019. Goyer also exited the series amid production issues in the past two years, with a new showrunner taking over.
Although there has been no official talk of when exactly Foundation will return to small screens, it may happen later this year. The precise report about its release window reads:

On March 15, a horror film is leaving Netflix that fright fans should scramble to see — just not alone, as Stephen King warns. The Autopsy of Jane Doe is a highly unusual shocker about a mysterious corpse that causes problems for a pair of father-son coroners. Their postmortem produces baffling clues to her origins that they will have to make sense of before her curse can take over their lives.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter director André Øvredal tackled this startlingly original story that Stephen King compared favorably with Alien and the early work of body horror king David Cronenberg. The gruesome autopsy triggers a series of supernatural events, while also provoking a painful dissection of the coroners' personal history. Excellent FX complements equally great performances, the best of which is delivered by the eerily lively Jane Doe herself.

The acclaimed Apple TV+ sci-fi series Foundation has reportedly tapped Fear the Walking Dead writer Ian Goldberg to take over as showrunner of the show after David S. Goyer relinquished that duty last year. According to Deadline, the writers' room is already up and running for a potential Season 4 that would further adapt Isaac Asimov's sprawling literary space opera, even though the long-gestating third season does not yet have a release date.
Goyer stepped back from Foundation in February last year before production resuming on the show's third season amid reported conflicts over the budget for the lavish TV drama. The cameras started rolling again, with executive producer Bill Bost overseeing the remainder of the filming schedule to ensure that Season 3 wrapped, since the production had faced several setbacks and delays at this point.

The Conjuring franchise has now seen Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprising Ed and Lorraine Warren for more than ten years. Wilson marks the end of their onscreen marriage with a touching tribute.
Patrick Wilson took to Instagram to honor co-star Vera Farmiga for ten years of memories. The Conjuring universe was built on their characters Ed and Lorraine Warren, and it's only fitting that the series ended with a homage to the actors' onscreen marriage. Wilson and Farmiga starred in three Conjuring installments to date, and The Conjuring: Last Rites is their final movie together. Wilson marked his last day making that film by honoring everyone responsible for the thriving franchise, which will likely explore plots beyond the mainline series after Last Rites. Farmiga is a special mention among Wilson's roll call of people he appreciates.
