Despite the current push for Canadian-made products in the wake of Trump’s tariff wars, Canadian broadcasters are doubling down on American formats and partnerships for the upcoming television season.

Bell Media, Corus, Rogers Sports & Media and the Canadian Broadcasting Centre (CBC) each took a day to present their upfronts in Toronto last week to advertisers and press. During the four-day frenzy they flew in talent, presented red carpets and unveiled plans for consolidated ad sales.

The presentation styles varied, as CBC opted for a breakfast event and Rogers did theirs virtually, but the message was the same: when it comes to programming network television, U.S. content still reigns supreme.

Unlike American schedules, which tout homegrown content, Canadian TV schedules are historically anchored with U.S. acquisition programming. These are the series that draw Canadian advertisers and viewers, who are impressionable to marketing campaigns on both sides of the border.

The 32-year-old star of the show got the support of his wife on his big night, as well as from all three of his brothers – Joe, Kevin and Franklin, with girlfriend Anna Olson – and his grandmother, Frances Madonia.

Nick‘s co-star Adrienne Warren also hit the carpet, as well as their standbys, Noah Kieserman and Nasia Thomas, writer Jason Robert Brown and director Whitney White.

This marks the Broadway returns for both Nick and Adrienne, but more importantly, this is the official Broadway debut for the 25-year-old musical!

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra couple up on the red carpet at the premiere screening for his new movie The Good Half held at Saban Theatre on Tuesday (August 13) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 31-year-old actor and musician stars in the movie, which is returning to theaters on August 16th with a wider release.

He was joined at the premiere by co-stars Brittany Snow, Alexandra Shipp, David Arquette, Matt Walsh, Elizabeth Shue, Ryan Bergara and Mimi Gianopulos, with her husband Brett Ryland, who wrote the movie based on his own experience, as well as director Robert Schwartzman.

In addition, Nick‘s younger brother and Claim to Fame co-host Franklin Jonas also showed his support, alongside girlfriend Anna Olson.

So many stars hit the red carpet for the 2024 Environmental Media Association Awards Gala on Saturday night (January 27) in Los Angeles.

Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder were just two of more than 20 celebrities to attend the gala, which was hosted at Sunset Las Palmas Studios.

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 8:00 Pm, the CW network will air Season 4, Episode 6 of “Great Chocolate Showdown” titled “Lights, Camera, Chocolate!” This episode will put the remaining five bakers to the test as they face two challenging tasks.

In the first part of the episode, the bakers will be tasked with baking chocolate bread and using it to create a dessert deli sandwich. The challenge will require them to blend chocolate and bread into a sweet and savory combination.

The second part of the episode will feature elimination challenges, where the bakers must draw inspiration from iconic film genres to create unique desserts.

Paramount’s Pluto TV launched its free, ad-supported (Fast) channels in Canada on Dec. 1, joining Tubi and the newly premiered CBC News Explore, which also made its Canadian debut this week.

The Pluto TV debut is in partnership with Canada’s Corus Entertainment, which oversees national advertising for the new platform. At launch there are more than 30 dedicated Canadian channels, many of which feature Corus programming. There are several local Global News channels and a variety of lifestyle content starring notable Canadian talent like the Property Brothers, Bryan and Sarah Baeumler, and Anna Olson (pictured above). Some of that talent appeared at the launch event at Toronto’s Design Exchange this week to promote the content.

Celebrity pastry chef Anna Olson, whose Food Network Canada series Bake With Anna Olson is set to air this fall, has joined Kin Community, a digital network and content company in the lifestyle space.

As part of the deal, Kin Community’s Canadian division will manage and ink brand deals for Olson’s Oh Yum YouTube channel, which counts roughly 200,000 subscribers and 12 million lifetime views. Kin will also harness its marketing, promotional, and data services in order to drive greater engagement and growth on Oh Yum, which is produced in partnership by Peace Point Entertainment Group and Boat Rocker Studios, and which features versions of Olson’s most popular recipes reimagined for YouTube.
