Joe Taslim's take on icy assassin Sub-Zero was an undeniable highlight of Mortal Kombat, and even though his character met his end at the hands of Scorpion in the movie's climactic battle, the recent teaser trailer for Mk II confirmed that Taslim will return as Noob Saibot.
As any fan of the long-running video game series will be aware, Bi-Han was resurrected as the shadowy ninja by Quan Chi after being killed-off in the first game, and there was a definite hint that Shang Tsung has similar plans for the character at the end of the first movie.
During a 2021 interview with THR, Taslim was asked about the possibility of suiting-up as Saibot for Mortal Kombat II.
"Yes, that's the next transformation of the character, but of course, we don't know yet. If the fans want this franchise to continue, then there's a strong chance that the next step...

The movie will finally be making its way out into theatres on October 24th – and while we wait for our chance to see it, producer Todd Garner has confirmed that he’s keeping his fingers crossed, hoping for the chance to make more sequels.
Mortal Kombat II stars returning Mortal Kombat cast members Lewis Tan as Mma fighter Cole Young, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.

The brutal world of Mortal Kombat may soon grow into a much larger cinematic universe. With Mortal Kombat 2 on the way, producer Todd Garner confirmed that the sequel is far from the franchise’s final chapter.
In a recent interview with YouTuber FutureBoyWho2, Garner revealed that the creative team has big plans for the future. “We’re hoping this isn’t the end,” he said. “This isn’t just a one-and-done. Hopefully, this is just the beginning.”
Garner teased major developments for characters like Scorpion and Bi-Han, who will return as Noob Saibot in the upcoming film. He also reassured fans that iconic moments, like Kano finally getting his signature metal eye, are coming down the pipeline.
While the future of the series depends on how the next film performs, Garner made it clear the door is open for more.

The Mortal Kombat video game series began in October 1992, and as that decade and the ones that followed progressed, the franchise simply grew larger and larger. Following the live-action reboot in 2021, the franchise has returned to on-screen conversations, with the sequel, Mortal Kombat 2, one of the most anticipated movies of the 2025 calendar, with an October 24 premiere date. Ahead of the premiere, Deadline reports the latest trailer for the Simon McQuoid sequel has picked up 106.8M worldwide views in its first 24 hours after being dropped on Thursday, July 17. It's an impressive number, especially given that it ranks as the best ever for a red-band trailer.
The performance from the sequel's red-band trailer continues a trend for the franchise that began with the 2021 reboot. The Lewis Tan-led film also impressed with its red-band trailer, following the previous McQuoid movie's record-breaking success, which cleared 116 million views in its first week and outperformed Logan and Deadpool 2.

Back in 2021, WB’s Mortal Kombat reboot movie faced an uphill battle at the box office, released deep into the Covid-19 pandemic that crippled the box office. The film ended up making $84 million worldwide, a number the upcoming sequel hopes to deliver a gruesome fatality to. Mortal Kombat II, well, it can’t blame the pandemic for any box office woes.
Warner Bros. will release Mortal Kombat II in U.S. theaters on October 24, and the film is already off to a strong start in terms of audience interest and engagement. The film’s trailer was released last week and Deadline is now reporting that it broke a viewership record.

Exclusive: It was clear back in the mid-1990s when New Line made the first adaptation of the Midway videogame, and it’s still evident today: There’s a massive appetite for Mortal Kombat. WaveMetrix data reports that the latest trailer for the Simon McQuoid sequel has notched 106.8M worldwide views in its first 24 hours after being dropped on Thursday, July 17 at 9Am Pst — the best ever for a red-band trailer. The trailer launched in 68 countries and 47 languages. Mortal Kombat II opens on Oct. 24.
The previous McQuoid movie back in 2021 was also a red trailer record-breaker, clearing 116M views in its first week and besting the 4-day traffic of Logan and Deadpool 2.
Great views yield excellent box office. Despite a theatrical day and date release on HBO Max, Mortal Kombat opened to a robust $23.3M over April 23-25, 2021; that was about on par to the unadjusted 1995 opening of the first movie which did $23.2M.

It may have taken four years, but "Mortal Kombat II" is finally, nearly upon us. Warner Bros. and New Line released director Simon McQuoid's "Mortal Kombat" in 2021, serving as an R-rated take on the beloved series of video games. The studio quickly set about developing at least one sequel and now, we finally know what that's going to look like. It's going to have an actual tournament, a bunch of new characters, lots of blood, and, it seems, a new protagonist.
The first trailer for "Mortal Kombat II" only just debuted online, showcasing what McQuoid and screenwriter Jeremy Slater, of "Moon Knight" fame, have cooked up. Big screen movie sequel Mortal Kombat II is headed our way this Halloween season, and Warner Bros. has unleashed the official trailer this afternoon. Give it a watch below!
Mortal Kombat II marks the arrival of Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage into the rebooted movie franchise, and the character takes center stage in this first official trailer. The new trailer also makes it clear that the sequel will actually depict the titular tournament this time around, and it looks much more like a video game come to life than the first movie did back in 2021.
That being said, I’m still not entirely sold on the approach of this particular big screen universe. A lot of what’s on display here looks much the same as the aforementioned 2021 movie, but Urban’s presence should help elevate the material and at least give us a character worth rooting for. The first official poster and teaser for Mortal Kombat II are now online, with the full trailer set to arrive tomorrow.
The poster is just a redesigned take on the classic Mk dragon logo, but the teaser takes the form of a brilliantly cheesy and Ott faux trailer for Johnny Cage's (The Boys and Star Trek alum Karl Urban) latest movie, "Uncaged Fury."
The cocky Hollywood B-movie star turned heroic freedom fighter's debut was set up at the end of the first movie when Cole Young (Lewis Tan) told his fellow kombatants that he knew someone "out in LA" that could aid them in the impending rematch against the forces of Outworld.

Although Mortal Kombat II isn't getting its first official trailer until tomorrow, Warner Bros. is hyping up viewers with a very different teaser for one of its stars' upcoming blockbusters. From New Line Cinema, the studio behind the very real smash hits Cool Hand Cage, Hard to Cage, and Rebel Without a Cage, comes the movie everyone has really been waiting for — Uncaged Fury, the latest revolutionary action flick from the Jean-Claude Van Damme-inspired icon, Johnny Cage. The video is just a taste of the high-octane martial arts that Karl Urban's Hollywood superstar is bringing to the table, filled with daring fight scenes, cool shades, and not enough guys to bring down the Cage. Just remember not to touch the sunglasses. Best of all, this can't-miss epic is coming to theaters this October when the video game adaptation sequel hits the big screen.

Nothing gets the blood pumping like a swift kick to the nostalgia bread basket, and today, Warner Bros. Pictures is unleashing Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage for a Mortal Kombat II teaser that hits the mark. Presented like a mixture of grindhouse and old-school martial arts action cinema, WB’s “Uncaged Fury” promo gets everything right about the classic Mk character’s heyday.
In the “Uncaged Fury” teaser trailer for Mortal Kombat II, Karl Urban plays Johnny Cage, the actor and martial artist who finds himself mixed up in Mortal Kombat, a tournament of champions fought between representatives of the Earthrealm (Earth) and the Outworld. Cage, alongside warriors like Raiden, Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Jax, and Kung Lao, wages war against the evil Shang Tsung, a shape-shifting warlord hellbent on bringing Earthrealm to its knees and setting the demons of Outworld loose on humanity.

You know the hype is very real when the creator of Mortal Kombat watches the sequel and walks away shouting, “Nailed it!!”. That’s right, Ed Boon, creative director of NetherRealm Studios, just gave his bloody stamp of approval after seeing the final cut of Mortal Kombat 2. But no, sadly, there’s still no trailer. Posting to X, Boon hyped up the film like it’s a flawless victory: “Just Finished watching the final version of the Mortal Kombat 2 movie! These guys nailed it!!” He even gave props to the cast, tagging Chin Han (Shang Tsung), Martyn Ford (Shao Kahn), and Lewis Tan (Cole Young) before finishing with, “October kan’t Get Over Here soon enough!!” Image Credit: Warner Bros. That’s really high praise, right? But Boon is not alone in hyping Mortal Kombat 2. Director Timo Tjahjanto, known for The Night Comes for Us, also posted that he cried watching the movie.

Get ready to test your might. With Mortal Kombat II making its way to theaters this fall, one streamer is about to offer the entire franchise on one convenient streaming platform. HBO Max will offer all three previous Mortal Kombat movies, plus the Mortal Kombat Legends series of animated films, starting on July 1. The franchise is an adaptation of the popular Mortal Kombat series of fighting video games. Introduced in 1992, the series gained notoriety for its bone-crushing violence and then-shocking levels of gore.
In the games, human and non-human fighters square off in the otherworldly martial arts tournament of the same name, finishing each other off with "Fatalities," gruesome kills that would make even Art the Clown queasy. The series' plot revolves around the battle between the forces of good and evil: if the forces of good are defeated at Mortal Kombat, the Earth will be invaded and overrun by the demonic residents of Outworld.

The Mortal Kombat video game franchise is one of the most iconic and recognizable franchises in the world. Several attempts have been made to adapt the video games into live-action before the 2021 film, Mortal Kombat, made it to the fore. Despite some warranted criticism, the show actually performed better than its predecessors, and ignited hopes for a sequel. Mortal Kombat 2 is set to arrive in theaters in the fall, with a theatrical release date of October 24 already in place. Writer Jeremy Slater, whose credits include Moon Knight and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, is confident the sequel will be a successful outing.
Mortal Kombat 2 will look to expand on the foundations set in the first film with Shang Tsung (Chin Han) and his attempt to eliminate some of Earthrealm's best fighters. The sequel will mean an expansion of the call sheet, with the introduction of several new characters and fighters.

2021's Mortal Kombat was the most successful live-action adaptation of the iconic video game in a franchise riddled with several let-downs in that department. However, the film was not spared from criticism, with the biggest being the omission of the iconic Mortal Kombat tournament. The tournament sees fighters from the Earthrealm take on those from Outworld as the destiny of both is decided in kombat. Several new fighters are coming into the fray in Mortal Kombat 2 as the tournament takes center stage and writer Jeremy Slater has addressed the coming fight fest in an interview with ComicBook.

The countdown has begun! Mortal Kombat II, the sequel to the brutal 2021 reboot, has officially wrapped filming and is set to hit theaters on October 24, 2025. Promising even more intense, bone-crunching action, the film aims to raise the bar for fans of the legendary franchise.

The movie will finally be making its way out into theatres on October 24th – and screenwriter Jeremy Slater, who was the lead writer on the Marvel / Disney+ series Moon Knight, has said that test screening audience responses have been so enthusiastic, they’re on the level of the reaction he (and many other movie-goers) had to Avengers: Endgame.
The sequel stars returning Mortal Kombat cast members Lewis Tan as Mma fighter Cole Young, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero,...

Exclusive: Adam Beach has landed the role of Hakoda in the third season of Netflix’s live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender, sources close to production tell Deadline. Hakoda is the father of Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio), two main characters in the story.
Fans of the franchise have long campaigned for Beach to play the character, and it appears the suggestion was taken to heart. Netflix declined to comment for this story.
The streaming series is a live-action adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon animated series. It follows the young “Avatar,” Aang (Gordon Cormier), who must master all four elemental powers—air, water, fire, and earth—to restore balance to the world threatened by the terrifying Fire Nation.
Beach joins the cast, which also includes Dallas Liu, Elizabeth Yu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Daniel Dae Kim, Momona Tamada, and Thalia Tran; and Season 2 additions: Miya Cech,...

Forget You Not opens in Taipei, where Cheng Le-Le straddles two worlds: the glare of a comedy-club spotlight and the fluorescent lights of her convenience-store shift. Across eight 45-minute episodes, Netflix’s Taiwanese drama charts her evolving bond with her father, Kuang-Chi, after doctors diagnose him with early dementia.
Director René Liu stages the series with a light touch—flashbacks, on-stage monologues and muted domestic scenes weave together into a portrait that never shies from both laughter and unease.
Cheng Le-Le (Hsieh Ying-Hsuan) narrates family lore through stand-up routines, turning market mishaps and hospital visits into improvised confessions. Chin Han’s Kuang-Chi drifts between eccentric dreamer and confused retiree, his memory lapses springing unexpected interventions into Le-Le’s struggle to launch a comedy career in a field still skewed toward men.
With cinematography that favors natural daylight and warm interiors, the series plants viewers in spaces that feel lived-in. This...

Directed by Rene Liu, Forget You Not is one of the best Netflix originals to have been released this year. The fear of losing one’s parents, the anxiety of seeing them grow old, and coming to terms with the cycle of life were some subjects that were depicted in such a beautiful manner in the series that one couldn’t help but marvel at the writing and what the creators had been able to achieve. The narrative makes us realize we are usually so busy growing up that we fail to make more time for our parents. And before we know it, it is a bit too late. Seeing Chin Han play the character of Cheng Kuang-Chi, I was reminded of a short story named “Boodhi Kaki,” written by one of the most exceptional Hindi writers, Munshi Premchand. The series beautifully depicted how old age is the revival of childhood.
