Joe Taslim's take on icy assassin Sub-Zero was an undeniable highlight of Mortal Kombat, and even though his character met his end at the hands of Scorpion in the movie's climactic battle, the recent teaser trailer for Mk II confirmed that Taslim will return as Noob Saibot.

As any fan of the long-running video game series will be aware, Bi-Han was resurrected as the shadowy ninja by Quan Chi after being killed-off in the first game, and there was a definite hint that Shang Tsung has similar plans for the character at the end of the first movie.

During a 2021 interview with THR, Taslim was asked about the possibility of suiting-up as Saibot for Mortal Kombat II.

The brutal world of Mortal Kombat may soon grow into a much larger cinematic universe. With Mortal Kombat 2 on the way, producer Todd Garner confirmed that the sequel is far from the franchise’s final chapter.

In a recent interview with YouTuber FutureBoyWho2, Garner revealed that the creative team has big plans for the future. “We’re hoping this isn’t the end,” he said. “This isn’t just a one-and-done. Hopefully, this is just the beginning.”

Garner teased major developments for characters like Scorpion and Bi-Han, who will return as Noob Saibot in the upcoming film. He also reassured fans that iconic moments, like Kano finally getting his signature metal eye, are coming down the pipeline.

While the future of the series depends on how the next film performs, Garner made it clear the door is open for more.

Back in 2021, WB’s Mortal Kombat reboot movie faced an uphill battle at the box office, released deep into the Covid-19 pandemic that crippled the box office. The film ended up making $84 million worldwide, a number the upcoming sequel hopes to deliver a gruesome fatality to. Mortal Kombat II, well, it can’t blame the pandemic for any box office woes.

Warner Bros. will release Mortal Kombat II in U.S. theaters on October 24, and the film is already off to a strong start in terms of audience interest and engagement. The film’s trailer was released last week and Deadline is now reporting that it broke a viewership record.

The Mortal Kombat 2 trailer finally has a release date. Fans won’t have to wait long, as the trailer is coming out tomorrow, July 17, 2025. This was announced along with a brand new poster for the movie, showing the classic Mortal Kombat logo and confirming the movie’s official release date, October 24, 2025.

This upcoming film is the sequel to the 2021 live-action Mortal Kombat movie. According to Warner Bros. Pictures, Mortal Kombat 2 will bring back a lot of familiar faces. Hiroyuki Sanada returns as Scorpion, along with Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.

There will also be new characters joining the fight. Karl Urban is stepping in as Johnny Cage.

Inhabitants of Earthrealm, rejoice. The first trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 is closer than you think. Fans have been waiting patiently for the sequel to the 2021 movie and will soon be rewarded with the first look at the new adaptation, producer Todd Garner recently revealed. The feature has a sprawling cast and promises an emotional story for fans of the video game and movie.

In a new X (Formerly Twitter) post, Garner announced, “Before the end of this month, there will be blood…” signaling the arrival of the highly anticipated trailer. When a fan asked when we could expect the trailer to drop, Garner cryptically replied, “Before this month ends…” The makers have been providing fans with steady updates, be it set images, plot-related teases, or official character posters, which have created much hype around the upcoming film. So whenever the trailer drops, fans will be tuning in to take in every detail.

You know the hype is very real when the creator of Mortal Kombat watches the sequel and walks away shouting, “Nailed it!!”. That’s right, Ed Boon, creative director of NetherRealm Studios, just gave his bloody stamp of approval after seeing the final cut of Mortal Kombat 2. But no, sadly, there’s still no trailer. Posting to X, Boon hyped up the film like it’s a flawless victory: “Just Finished watching the final version of the Mortal Kombat 2 movie! The Mortal Kombat video game franchise is one of the most iconic and recognizable franchises in the world. Several attempts have been made to adapt the video games into live-action before the 2021 film, Mortal Kombat, made it to the fore. Despite some warranted criticism, the show actually performed better than its predecessors, and ignited hopes for a sequel. Mortal Kombat 2 is set to arrive in theaters in the fall, with a theatrical release date of October 24 already in place. Writer Jeremy Slater, whose credits include Moon Knight and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, is confident the sequel will be a successful outing.

Exclusive: Adam Beach has landed the role of Hakoda in the third season of Netflix’s live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender, sources close to production tell Deadline. Hakoda is the father of Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio), two main characters in the story.

Fans of the franchise have long campaigned for Beach to play the character, and it appears the suggestion was taken to heart. Netflix declined to comment for this story.

Directed by Rene Liu, Forget You Not is one of the best Netflix originals to have been released this year. The fear of losing one’s parents, the anxiety of seeing them grow old, and coming to terms with the cycle of life were some subjects that were depicted in such a beautiful manner in the series that one couldn’t help but marvel at the writing and what the creators had been able to achieve. The narrative makes us realize we are usually so busy growing up that we fail to make more time for our parents. And before we know it, it is a bit too late. Seeing Chin Han play the character of Cheng Kuang-Chi, I was reminded of a short story named “Boodhi Kaki,” written by one of the most exceptional Hindi writers, Munshi Premchand. The series beautifully depicted how old age is the revival of childhood.
