Born in Hartford, Connecticut to Nancy Gardocki and William Orr III,
Billy Orr spent his formative years in the small rural town of
Suffield, Connecticut. He was quiet and timid as a young child, a role
that he would eventually grow out of with maturity. Sort of.
His parents divorced when he was very young, an event that shaped the rest of his life but surprisingly mostly in a positive way. "I decided very young, maybe at the age of five, that circumstances I had no control of wouldn't run my life." It was made much easier when his mother remarried when he was eleven. Things began rough as they often do with new families, but Billy learned to love and deeply admire his stepfather.
Once when a third grade teacher asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up he replied, "Either an astronaut or a transformer." His fear of heights made being an astronaut a difficult profession but his imagination continued to grow. He started to jot down ideas which soon became short stories and by the time he reached high school they were slowly became short scripts for films later to be made by him and his best friend, Ross Martin. Originally he viewed himself only as a writer, but has grown to love the craft of directing.
Shortly after his first year of college tragedy struck. His beloved film teacher, Rodolfo Vidal-Gonzalez or fito as all the students called him, died in a car crash. Billy says, "his importance to me could never be described in words." From that moment he decided that everything he did would be in his honor, with a small reminder coming after the credits of each of his films. A simple set of words that mean the world to anyone that knew him, Forever for Fito. Stay Tuned.
Presently in his Junior year at Villa Julie College in Stevenson, Maryland. He's just completed a short film tentatively titled, Sydney(a reference to Paul Thomas Anderson) and plans on taking a shot at Hollywood after he finishes college.
