Exclusive: Vanessa Hudgens (Bad Boys: Ride or Die) has wrapped production in Vancouver, British Columbia on Quiet Storm, a dramatic thriller marking the directorial debut of Anthony Thorne, who also penned the script.

Exploring themes from the ’60s such as women’s liberation and the Black Power movement, the film takes place in the summer of 1969, as the infamous Hurricane Camille marks its tragic landfall. Hudgens plays a romance novelist trapped indoors during the storm as she struggles to cope with the reality of an ever-changing world.

Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino co-stars, as does Thorne as Hudgens’ husband. Alongside Hudgens, Thorne and Sorvino, the film also features up-and-comers including Seydou Maiga, Sophia Chapdelaine, Cody John, and Elysée Sanvillé. Now, several months after the movie enjoyed a cinematic release, it’s finally made its way onto streaming, where intrigued viewers are digging in, helping to launch the title to the top spot on Hulu in the United States.

Italian producer Andrea Iervolino has boarded “Captivated,” a mob thriller starring Al Pacino and Katie Holmes that seeks to provide a different take on the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III than Ridley Scott’s “All the Money in the World.” The long-gestating film is set to start shooting in Rome later this month.

“Captivated,” directed by Dito Montiel, tells the story of the 1973 kidnapping of Getty III and the unexpected bond between Calabrian mafia boss Saro Mammoliti (to be played by Pacino in his older version) and Gail Getty, mother of Getty III, to be played by Holmes.

They are “two souls from completely different worlds, drawn together by a tragedy that will forever change their lives,” says the provided synopsis. “Amid psychological tension and subtle desire, theirs is a seductive game of chess that adds a crucial layer to the mystery of the Getty kidnapping.”

However, one certainly fared better than the other, with Last Breath's $7.9 million start to theatrical life overshadowing the $901,000 earned by Riff Raff. Although opening on just 1,004 screens, Riff Raff's $897-per-theater average was one of the worst of the weekend, suggesting the film's life at the box office is going to be anything but pretty.

There were two new movies to hit theaters this weekend — Last Breath and Riff Raff — and while both feature their fair share of star power, one performed much worse than the other. It was not only the day that Downey was officially cast as Tony Stark in Jon Favreau’s Iron Man, but it was also the theatrical release date of Montiel’s debut indie drama A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, starring Downey as a semi-autobiographical version of Montiel. The day cemented Downey’s return to industry prominence after a series of highly publicized personal struggles, and the random fall Friday had just as much meaning for Montiel after many of his own storybook ups and agonizing downs.

As a native of Queens in New York City, Montiel was something of a renaissance man before becoming a filmmaker. In the ’80s, he was a mainstay in NYC’s hardcore punk scene as the teenage frontman of Major Conflict. In 1989, his new band, Gutterboy, signed a then-record $1 million deal with Geffen Records.

A decade and a half ago, Gabrielle Union appeared as one of the stars of the teen cheerleading movie Bring It On. Now, she's teasing that fans of the film may soon be getting an update on what happened to all of the characters.

She was asked about where her character, Isis, might be today, 25 years after the events of Bring It On. Two Ghostbustersare set to co-star in a new odd couple comedy movie from director Max Barbakow (Brothers). Per Deadline, Bill Murray, who starred in 1984’s Ghostbustersand its subsequent sequels, will star alongside Kristen Wiig, who played Erin Gilbert in 2016’s Ghostbusters reboot (also known as Ghostbusters: Answer the Call).

The film, titled Epiphany, will be launched this week in Berlin at the European Film Market by Rocket Science, CAA Media Finance, and Range Media Partners. Epiphany stars Wiig as Favorite Ives, who is a fashionista and heiress who loses her fortune overnight.

Favorite then goes on a two-week mission to find a rich husband while she fights creditors and tries to keep a roof over her head. Wiig’s Favorite then meets Oz Bell (Murray), who is an eccentric billionaire and also a math savant and Oz ends up needing Favorite’s “spirit and spontaneity as much as she needs his money.

Roadside Attractions has revealed the trailer for the crime comedy caper ‘Riff Raff’ featuring Bill Murray and Pete Davidson.

Even without checking into “The White Lotus” for Season 3, Jennifer Coolidge is still caught up with criminals onscreen in dark comedy “Riff Raff.”

Coolidge plays the ex-wife of a former mobster, played by Ed Harris, who tries to warn her family that two gangsters (Pete Davidson and Bill Murray) from their past are out to get them.

Biehn’s latest guest was Veronica Cartwright, who ran into the alien xenomorph in the 1979 film Alien, seven years before Biehn had his own close encounter with the nasty creatures in Aliens. Oscar nominee Clive Owen is set to play a police office in Germany on the brink of WWII in historical thriller “Kristallnacht.”

The feature — being launched at the American Film Market by International Film Trust — comes from Oscar-winning filmmaker Stefan Ruzowitzky, who will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Julius Grützke, based on an original script by Jonathan Frank and Scott Mann.

“Kristallnacht” was announced by Michael Benaroya, the CEO of Benaroya Pictures and co-founder of International Film Trust, who will serve as producer alongside Danny Krausz, Marcelo Gandola and Daniel Zuta.
