Chicago Fire went into the episode "Post Mortem" promising blood. It was heavily implied that 51 would be losing one of their own after a tragic accident occurs on the job. And it did, albeit, not in the way we expected. Nobody died in "Post Mortem," contrary to its title. But we did see Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) nearly die after a building collapse left him with internal bleeding.
Damon's identity is kept a secret for the majority of the episode, and even when its confirmed that he was the firefighter who sparked the entire 51 investigation, there's uncertainty as to whether he will survive. Thankfully, he pulls through, and gets through his surgery intact. It's possible that Damon will never put out another fire. Which leads us to ask: what has the point of his entire season 13 arc been?

Lj Smith, the author of the bestselling young adult fiction "The Vampire Diaries," has died at age 66. Smith's popular vampire book series was turned into a hit television show of the same name on the CW Network and lasted for eight seasons. The New York Times reported that the author died on March 8, in Walnut Creek, California, after dealing with the effects of a rare autoimmune disease for a decade. On her website, a heartfelt message can be seen remembering the "kind and gentle soul" that became a pioneer in supernatural fiction.
The statement reads, "Lisa was a kind and gentle soul, whose brilliance, creativity, resilience and empathy illuminated the lives of her family, friends and fans alike. She will be remembered for her imaginative spirit, her pioneering role in supernatural fiction, and her generosity, warmth and heart, both on and off the page." Born Lisa Jane Smith on September...

The Vampire Diaries is one of the few shows that thrived with a huge ensemble cast, as every figure was so unique and individually important to the overarching story of the fantasy drama. Damon, Elena, and Stefan were obviously incredibly important, but the supporting cast also managed to enthrall fans with their own character arcs that were as interesting as the three protagonists. However, some of these beloved characters didn't last as long as the show did.
Some of them, like Jenna and Liz, met untimely deaths that left viewers completely heartbroken, while others exited the show to explore other endeavors. The Vampire Diaries handled some of these character departures very well, but others, like Meredith Fell, were never explained until episodes later and in passing. These fan favorites would have enhanced the show if they had stuck around, without a doubt, but they were sadly phased out of the show a little too soon.

Chicago Fire puts characters in danger on a weekly basis. We see firefighters and medics putting their lives on the line to protect others. Unfortunately, it doesn't always end well. There have been several deaths over the course of the show's 13 seasons. Some of which, we are still reeling from.
In an effort to celebrate, grieve, and simply remember the Chicago Fire characters who have fallen, we decided to compile a list of every major death that has occurred, from the pilot to the present. It gets a little bleak, but such are the risks of the job. Our one rule is that the character in question had to have worked as a firefighter/medic.

In 2013, The Vampire Diaries established an immersive franchise full of magical plot twists and aligned the series with the ever-growing world of cinematic universes. With two spinoffs, The Originals and Legacies, it had some of the best fantasy and lore in television history, not to mention an amazing ensemble of characters in each of the three shows. Often, these characters would overlap from one series to the other, adding to their appeal.
The Vampire Diaries was the first series in the franchise, and it had some compelling characters that had not been seen on teen TV before. The introduction of the Original vampires took it to the next level, and then they had their own New Orleans-based spinoff. Legacies had some of the younger characters growing up and taking center stage, which allowed fans to get a deeper look into their personalities. Nevertheless, over the years, many of these characters...

Six episodes remain in Chicago Fire's 13th Season, rounding out a 15-part arc airing on NBC between September 2024 and February 2025. Of course, with the NFL's 59th Superbowl slated for February 9, 2025, some releases could shift to accommodate the big game. As such, it's worth keeping track of when, how, and where to catch the final six chapters of the long-running medical procedural.
When Chicago Fire returns for Season 13, Episode 10, "Chaos Theory," much of the drama will focus on a community center emergency that requires a response from the Chicago Fire Department team. Elsewhere, Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney) may expose a corrupt team member, an internal department struggle that will surely set up the drama in the remaining five episodes. Without further ado, Chicago Fire's Season 13 release schedule lies ahead.

A handful of elements need to come together to make a great TV show. Settings, themes, plots, pacing, and other key aspects could make or break any project. But, at the heart of any good story are its characters. Characters drive a story's narrative, helping move things along while keeping audiences engaged.
A character is a pretty flexible concept with various types impacting the story in some way. There are protagonists who lead the story, antagonists who create conflict for the protagonist, and more to provide variety for audiences to relate to. They're among the most important parts of a book, movie, or show, but don't always last forever. And when a character inevitably exits the narrative, it can have cataclysmic results, especially in a TV series.

Dick Wolf's company produces the franchise, and this event marks the first time three Wolf-made series have crossed over since 2019. The Vampire Diaries stars Candice King and Nina Dobrev reunite with near disastrous results.
In a December 7 X post from PopCrave, The Vampire Diaries star Candice King can been seen rushing to catch a falling backdrop which would have otherwise crashed directly into costar Nina Dobrev. After moving out of the way, a second section of the panel backdrop falls over, landing on the back of the chair King was sitting in originally. Ultimately, no one was hurt.

Exciting news has been revealed for One Chicago fans. A major crossover event is planned to soon air on NBC, bringing together all three One Chicago shows for the first time since before the pandemic.
Per TVLine, NBC is planning a one-night crossover event for Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med. The storyline will reportedly focus on a "massive explosion in an office building that upends the entire city (above and below ground)." The last time all three shows were brought together was in Oct. 2019, several months before the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic and last year's Hollywood strikes both contributed to the delay in finally getting another One Chicago crossover event put together for NBC.

Chicago Fire's long run means that the Chicago Fire cast has shifted many times over the years, but not every character gets a well-respected exit. The show revolves around the intense Firehouse 51 which is home to several paramedics and firefighters who work hard to save people from life-threatening situations. In scenes elevated by the show's stellar setting, several characters are fired from the noteworthy firehouse for being reckless in times of crisis.

For eight seasons, The CW's The Vampire Diaries weaved a romance that always kept fans guessing. Elena Gilbert's (Nina Dobrev) dramatic choice between two vampire brothers, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder), was the main conflict of the series, but it wasn't what made the series resonate with viewers. While romance was the main draw, it was contrasted exceptionally with some truly horrific and dark material.
The Vampire Diaries starts with a young girl in the throes of grief after the premature death of her parents. In the first episode alone, the series features murder, attempted sexual assault, and depression. The pilot episode of The Vampire Diaries would ultimately only be the tip of the iceberg for some of the darkest material the show would portray during its tenure.
Damon Killing Jeremy Is an Unforgivable Act
Damon's redemption arc takes place over the entirety of The Vampire Diaries and includes some huge setbacks.

The Vampire Diaries may have come at the tail end of the vampire craze, but it essentially redefined the genre for many YA audiences. It took the teen passion that Twilight gifted audiences and gave it teeth. Following the typical human girl at a typical human high school, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) becomes the object of the affection of not one vampire but two. Whether fans were Team Stefan (Paul Wesley) or Team Damon (Ian Somerhalder), the series offered juicy plotlines for both. The love triangle fueled the horror elements until the last season, but it was in no way the only game in town.

Fantasy TV shows are a beloved part of the TV show landscape, but there are many viewers who have never seen a series in the genre. This makes sense, as fantasy and other works of speculative fiction can be daunting to get into when there isn't a clear place to start. The heavy lore and world-building that fantasy is known for can dissuade casual viewers who want escapism rather than active watching. However, some of the best works within the genre are perfect for audiences looking to dip their toe into fantasy and find the stories that click with them.
Some of the more approachable shows within the genre are the best historical fantasy TV shows. Using the past as a foreign world instead of a new realm with different laws of physics and government is an easier transition into fantasy. Romance is also a key facet of many works...

When Chicago Fire debuts its 13th season on NBC on September 25, 2024, fans will meet a new chief leading Firehouse 51 in a sudden dramatic cast overhaul bound to bear serious narrative consequences. When the show left off in Season 12, all eyes turned to longtime Battalion Chief Wallace Boden's (Eammon Walker) departure and his potential replacement, with most believing senior firefighter Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) would assume the mantle.

Few other shows have reached the upper echelons of pop culture popularity the way The Vampire Diaries has. With a coterie of supernatural creatures and interesting plotlines, it was the go-to CW drama for years. However, more than the plots, it was the show's compelling main characters who kept fans hooked. Elena, Damon, Stefan, and the Mystic Falls gang were emotional, expressive, and relatable, which made viewers resonate with them further.
Considering The Vampire Diaries was a teen show, most of the characters were in their late teenage years and on the cusp of adulthood. The show also had a mix of older characters who acted as mentors and guides to the Mystic Falls gang. With vampires, werewolves, and hybrids galore, many Tvd characters had ages that went into centuries. Even still, the youngest and oldest characters in the series could still surprise readers.

Character arcs in TV shows can switch from terrifying to sweet quickly. The best TV character arcs showcase organic and multi-faceted development. Some characters like Negan Smith and Din Djarin undergo complex redemption arcs.
TV shows go on for a long time, meaning that the showrunners have all the screen time they need to show a character switch from being completely terrifying to sweet and cuddly. Yet some of these switches happen very fast, even within the first episode, when the point of a character is that they maintain a facade of terror but have a heart after all. This works better in some cases than others for instance, The Walking Dead really wants everyone to forget Negan's villainy, spending years on this arc and ignoring a lot of his past.
The scary-to-sweet character type overlaps with both TV characters with the best redemption arcs and the most undeserved redemption arcs in TV shows.

Kat Graham and Paul Wesley reunite, bringing back memories of Stefan and Bonnie from The Vampire Diaries. Bonnie and Stefan's relationship wasn't developed much initially. The dynamic was explored more in the later seasons.
Two actors from The Vampire Diaries reunite in a new photo seven years after The CW show ended. The supernatural saga had a reasonably large ensemble, especially when including the bevy of recurring guest stars that joined each season. But almost a decade after it wrapped up, the drama is often remembered for the initial central love triangle between Stefan, Elena, and Damon rather than its later attempts to expand the depth of relationships between The Vampire Diaries' cast of characters.
Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennett, shares a photo where she reunites with Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan.

The emo TV shows mentioned tackle themes like mental health, self-acceptance, and loss in complex and relatable ways. The characters in these shows often struggle with personal issues, forming deep connections with audiences through their emotional journeys. Emo culture goes beyond dark aesthetics, focusing on personal reflection and delving into the psyche of characters facing unique challenges.

Even though The Umbrella Academy is now finished, these elder emo TV shows are absolutely worth watching. Some actors, such as Matt Davis, on The Vampire Diaries had high salaries likely due to their prior experience in the industry. While Steven R. McQueen received a lower per-episode salary, he still made a lasting impact with his portrayal of Jeremy Gilbert. The main stars, such as Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, received some of the highest salaries on the show, reflecting their importance to the series.
With eight seasons on the air and a cast of fan-favorite actors, there are some fans who wonder how much The Vampire Diaries cast were paid on the show. Fans were disappointed by Sylvie Brett's departure from Chicago Fire after 10 seasons, but her story ended on a high note. Actress Kara Killmer is moving on to new projects but hasn't ruled out a return to Chicago Fire for a guest spot. With Sylvie Brett gone, there will be a new paramedic at Firehouse 51, potentially shaking up dynamics in future episodes.
Since September 2014, when Chicago Fire began airing its third season, Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) has been an important part of Firehouse 51. She began as the new partner for Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund) and soon became the most consistent paramedic on Ambulance 61. That's why fans were so disappointed to learn that Sylvie Brett would be leaving Chicago Fire before the end of the show's 12th season.

A spinoff focused on Jeremy's life as a vampire hunter would have been the perfect choice for The Vampire Diaries. Julie Plec could still make a Jeremy spinoff, as actor Steven R. McQueen has previously expressed interest and isn't attached to other long-term TV shows or franchises. A Jeremy spinoff would be better than a Legacies spinoff, as it would appeal to fans of the original series and potentially regain the audience that Legacies lost.

Early reviews can underestimate the long-term potential of a show, as exemplified by The Vampire Diaries and Full House. Critics often focus too narrowly on presumed limitations and fail to recognize the true potential and unique qualities of a series, as seen with Boy Meets World and Ja'mie: Private School Girl. Skepticism from critics can be shortsighted, as demonstrated by NCIS, Game of Thrones, The Wire, Friends, Breaking Bad, and The Office, all of which surpassed initial expectations and became widely acclaimed.
Audiences often turn to reviewers to gauge whether a show is worth their time and investment. However, this evaluation process can be imperfect. Some shows take a few seasons to hit their stride and improve significantly, even if they initially receive unfavorable assessments. In such cases, a show can transform into one of television's greatest achievements, despite early skepticism. While reviews provide valuable perspective, they do not always...

Love triangles can enhance a show if they have complex dynamics and chemistry between the characters. Some love triangles are predictable and can drag on for too long, losing audience interest. Love triangles can add drama and keep viewers engaged until the show's end, especially if the outcome is unexpected.
Love triangles are a common plot device on television, but they are rarely utilized to the show's advantage. Too often, series introduce a love triangle as a way to add drama to the main couple's relationship, but instead, it dumbs down the characters involved and makes the show less appealing. A love triangle is meant to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, unsure about who will turn out to be the endgame couple, but often it quickly becomes obvious who is the third wheel that will be up and gone by the end of the season at the very latest.

Stefan kills Enzo in a brutal way, ripping out his heart in front of Bonnie, dashing their dreams of a future together. Enzo's death is motivated by Stefan's deal with the Devil, which requires him to turn off his humanity and kill Elena or 100 people. Enzo's death is a necessary plot point that allows Stefan to return to humanity and completes his redemption arc, but it leaves lasting repercussions for Bonnie and Stefan's relationship.

TV villains' redemption arcs can feel too sudden, unrealistic or undeserved, disappointing long-time viewers. Certain factors disqualify TV villains from redemption, such as unforgivable acts, lack of atonement, or questionable circumstances. Failing to fully address why a villain deserves redemption can leave a questionable legacy for a series.
TV villains that were redeemed way too easily can be greatly disappointing for any series' long-time viewers. Unfortunately, even in some of the greatest shows of all time, there are television characters whose redemption arcs have felt too sudden, unrealistic, or wholly undeserved. This can be due to a number of factors, but this is typically caused by showrunners failing to keep their fingers on the pulse of target audiences.
Indeed, not all TV villains who became heroes truly deserved the opportunity for redemption. To be fair, whether a TV villain was redeemed way too easily or not is ultimately a matter of opinion.

TV shows must make tough decisions on plotlines that can disrupt the overall narrative and risk losing the audience. Some scrapped storylines could have improved the series, while others could have destroyed its success. Characters like Klaus Mikaelson in The Vampire Diaries and Steve Harrington in Stranger Things were originally planned to be killed off but were kept due to their popularity.
TV shows often have to make bold choices to stay relevant, popular, and entertaining, but some storylines end up being so shocking that showrunners scrap them altogether, and rightfully so. Every series has its own unique feature that draws viewers in, be it the main couple, the central mystery, or the captivating atmosphere. If any of that is compromised, the show risks losing its audience and getting canceled well before its time. Nina Dobrev, who played Elena Gilbert, left The Vampire Diaries in season 6 but made a comeback in the series finale for her character's happy ending with Damon. Steven R. McQueen, who portrayed Jeremy Gilbert, left the show because his character's story had been played out, and there was no more room for growth. Michael Trevino left The Vampire Diaries in season 6 because he felt his character, Tyler Lockwood, was becoming repetitive. However, Tyler returned in season 8 only to be killed off.
The Vampire Diaries featured centuries-old vampires, formidable witches, fearsome werewolves, and powerful hybrids, so it was no surprise when characters started dying left and right and exiting the television show. Of course, minor characters were typically the ones to die or leave Mystic Falls. But now and then, a central figure in the CW supernatural teen drama series would depart, leaving fans confused as to why the actor was leaving the show.

The Vampire Diaries without Nina Dobrev's Elena would be really hard to imagine. Especially since the actress made a wonderful job portraying not only the main character of the series but her equally popular doppelganger Katherine Pierce.
Of course, Dobrev was already a well-known actress when she got cast in The CW's hit show, but there's no doubt that The Vampire Diaries changed her whole career for good and Elena it's probably the role of her life. But she almost didn't get it.

Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) have a sire bond in season 4 of The Vampire Diaries, and it has been a point of contention ever since. First introduced in season 3, episode 6, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" the sire bond came into play when Damon revealed Tyler (Michael Lockwood) was sired to Klaus (Joseph Morgan) after he was made a 'hybrid'. It was learned that this "sire connection" was forged out of gratitude (as Tyler was now able to prevent himself from turning into a werewolf). However, a consequence of this was that Tyler had to do everything Klaus told him to.
Initially, it did seem like the sired bond was just going to be another fact to include in Tvd lore, but it turned out that producers, Julie Plec and Caroline Dries, had bigger plans for it in season 4 when they revealed that a sire bond can emerge between vampires.

There’s been constant speculation that when The Flash eventually gets made it will use the Flashpoint storyline to wipe the majority of Snyder’s output from continuity, but even after spending years in development hell, the Scarlet Speedster’s solo outing is still surrounded by huge question marks thanks to star Ezra Miller’s recent antics.
There’s been that many potential projects rumored to be part of the Dceu over the last few years that it becomes difficult to keep track of them, but as far as we know, a Nightwing movie is still in the pipeline. We haven’t heard a lot about it, but The Lego Batman Movie’s Chris McKay is still slated to direct, with the most recent...

The Dark Knight Rises concluded Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy on a bold note, with Bruce Wayne finding a happy ending with Selina Kyle and moving away from Gotham. In his stead, orphan cop John Blake was shown to have discovered the Batcave, which told us he was an adaptation of Robin and would go on to protect the city as Nightwing.
After Rises first came out, there was a lot of talk about how much everyone wanted to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt lead a spinoff movie about Blake’s exploits, but Nolan’s wish to keep his trilogy self-contained and Warner Bros.’ desire to create a wide-ranging shared universe – the Dceu – put paid to that idea. In some other universe out there, though, a Nightwing movie actually happened and the above fan-made trailer from YouTube channel Smasher gives us as a taste of what it would’ve been like.

Ian Somerhalder is set to star on Netflix's upcoming vampire drama, V Wars, but he's not entirely against returning to his Vampire Diaries roots. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 40-year-old actor toyed with the idea of appearing on Tvd spinoff, Legacies.
While he wouldn't want to reprise his role as vampire-turned-human, Damon Salvatore, he would definitely love to direct an episode. "I actually would love to talk to Jules [The Vampire Diaries creator Julie Plec]. I would love to go and direct one of [the Legacies episodes]," Somerhalder said. "Because I know Paul [Wesley] went to do it, and he called me, and he's like, 'Bro, this is f*cking crazy.' Because it's all of our old sets, which is a time warp, 10 years ago. He's just going, 'Dude!' He was actually kind of emotional about it, he goes 'This is crazy!'"
