Stop showing tobacco on screen, Bollywood urged
Stating that on screen representation of smoking glamorizes tobacco, civil society members Wednesday urged the film industry and censor board to avoid depicting such scenes in movies..There are several empirical studies and global evidence which show that depiction of tobacco usage in movies increases the risk of initiation of tobacco use in an indirect manner,. Shaan appointed brand ambassador for anti-tobacco campaign
He has entertained us for a long time with his melodious voice and now singer Shaan is doing his bit for the society too. Shaan has been roped in as the brand ambassador for an anti-tobacco campaign launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The playback singer also unveiled a special track called 'Life Se Panga Mat Le Yaar' which aims to inspire the youth to quit smoking. The song has been written by Rekha Nigam. At an event held at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Shaan said that he really felt closely attached to the cause of eradicating smoking habits and consumption of tobacco. He also expressed grief on losing his father to the evil that has engulfed the present society, and causes almost 1.6 million global deaths every year. Hope Shaan's message reaches out loud and clear to all the smokers out there!
