Phyllis de Picciotto, a co-founder of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, has died. She was 84.
De Picciotto died April 14 of heart failure at a hospice care facility in Santa Barbara, her daughter Leonie de Picciotto told The Hollywood Reporter.
After moving from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara in 1983, de Picciotto programmed films at the Riviera Theatre for Metropolitan Theatres CEO Bruce Corwin to great success. That led to her holding a meeting in her living room to pitch the idea of a Santa Barbara-based film festival.
The event would, according to her husband, Stan Roden, offer “world and U.S. premieres along with celebrities, panels, Klieg lights, vintage cars, red carpet, long lines fostering conversation, lavish parties, a large, dedicated group of volunteers, free programs, artist retrospectives and awards.”
Corwin offered Metropolitan’s theaters and cash to the effort and helped persuade the City Council that such a festival...

Which Actors Nearly Made It To Ocean’s Eleven Crew Opposite Brad Pitt & George Clooney?(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Ocean’s Eleven is the kind of film that oozes incredible Vegas heists, slick suits, and a cast so star-studded it practically sparkled off the screen. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and their charming crew made robbing casinos look like a high-fashion runway with a criminal twist. But here’s the twist you didn’t see coming: not everyone was eager to join the crew.
Believe it or not, several big-name stars turned down a seat at Danny Ocean’s table. Whether it was scheduling drama, script doubts, or just missing out on the Vegas glitz, some seriously famous faces passed on a chance to steal cinematic gold. Curious who they were? Let’s just say hindsight might be kicking in harder than a blackjack loss. Grab your chips, we’re dealing out the surprising...

Exclusive: Seven actors have been added to the cast of American Classic, MGM+’s upcoming half-hour comedy series from creators Michael Hoffman (Soapdish, Restoration, The Last Station) and Bob Martin (The Prom, Slings and Arrows).
The series from Fifth Season, with Mar-Key Pictures, Likely Story and Anonymous Content producing, begins production in New Jersey this summer. It’s the second half-hour comedy series in MGM+’s history after 2016’s Graves that starred Nick Nolte.
American Classic centers on Broadway star and notorious narcissist Richard Bean (Kevin Kline), who suffers a spectacular public meltdown and returns to his hometown and the family-run theater where he first became aware of his own brilliance. When he arrives, he is shocked to discover that his father, the former artistic director, has lost a step and that the once-respected theater, now run by his brother Jon (Jon Tenney) and his wife (Laura Linney) has become,...

Steven Soderbergh's 2001 Las Vegas heist movie "Ocean's Eleven" is a whole lot of fun. Taking cues from the original 1960 film of the same name, which starred the Rat Pack as various skilled criminals working with con artist and thief Danny Ocean, "Ocean's Eleven" is one of the ultimate heist flicks of all time. A big part of what makes it work, aside from Soderbergh's skilled direction and a whip-smart script (courtesy of Soderbergh and co-writer Ted Griffin), is the incredible cast who surround George Clooney's version of Danny Ocean. His team is made up of Brad Pitt as his best friend Rusty, Bernie Mac as conman and gambling enthusiast Frank, Elliott Gould as former casino owner Reuben Tishkoff, Don Cheadle as explosives expert Basher Tarr, Casey Affleck and Scott Caan as mechanics Virgil and Turk Malloy, Quin Shaobo as acrobat "The Amazing" Yen, Eddie Jemison as tech expert Livingston Dell,...

Peanuts always does it up for the holidays, celebrating in their strips and animated TV specials, with Thanksgiving being one of the more famous Peanuts holidays. Never failing to address Thanksgiving in their comic strips, Peanuts makes all the characters join in on the Turkey Day festivities. Even characters that are not part of the core cast, like Spike, Snoopy's brother, have been included in Thanksgiving storylines.
Whether it be about the food or the family, Peanuts mines Thanksgiving for inspiration in their November comic strips. Given that Thanksgiving was such a popular holiday to celebrate in the comic strips, an animated TV special was just a matter of time, especially after the massive success of the Halloween TV special. As a result, Peanuts became forever entwined with the holiday of Thanksgiving.

This article contains spoilers for "Saltburn."
Outside of Luca Guadagnino, nobody is making "vibes" movies like "Saltburn." Writer and director Emerald Fennell's follow-up to "Promising Young Woman" is just as provocative as her Oscar-winning feature directorial debut. The film is ostensibly a cross between "Brideshead Revisited" and "The Talented Mr. Ripley" ("Brideshead" author Evelyn Waugh is even named-dropped at one point), following a student at the University of Oxford -- one who goes by the Dickensian moniker of Oliver Quick, as played by Barry Keoghan -- as he latches onto a rich, popular peer named Felix (Jacob Elordi). However, for all its high-art influences, "Saltburn" is much less interested in themes about wealth and Britain's crumbling aristocracy than it is in luxuriant close-ups of its characters' body hair or montages of people glistening with sweat as they gyrate, party, or merely lounge about half (or fully) naked.

Lucy's tough love approach doesn't always lead to happy customers, but she still has no shortage of patients. Lucy's therapy sessions with the Peanuts gang often lack empathy, but she still charges them for her services. Lucy may not be the most effective counselor, but she has no problem boosting her own self-esteem.
Charlie Brown may have been Lucy's most frequent and loyal customer, but he was by no means the only Peanuts character who sought her out for psychiatric help. Basically, all the members of the Peanuts gang saw her at least once, even the level-headed and practical Franklin. Lucy, being the abrasive child she is, is not always the most empathetic or understanding therapist, though.
As a result, she does not consistently have happy customers, as those who see her don't feel very helped by her tough love at times. Regardless, she has no shortage of patients, with...

One of DC's bestselling writers, Tom King, has declared that Charles Schulz's iconic comic strip Peanuts is "the best comic of all time." Anyone who has kept up with modern DC stories has heard the name Tom King in one way or another. The talented writer has produced some of the biggest titles for the company since he joined DC in the early 2010s. Some of his most notable stories have included a Watchmen spin-off story called Rorshach, the dark transformation of Danger Street, existential horror Mister Miracle, and a ton of Batman stories over the past ten years. He's become synonymous with DC Comics as one of the publisher's most bankable writers. However, his favorite comic of all time doesn't come from any of DC's arsenal of heroes and villains.
In a YouTube interview with Popverse, King discusses his upcoming work on a new Wonder Woman series. He...

When Paramount+ brought Trek back to television in September 2017 with Star Trek: Discovery's double-decker premiere event, it broke ground on a road that would see the rebirth of the Trek franchise.
Six years later, Star Trek: Discovery has saved the galaxy multiple times; traveled through the mycelial network, to the Mirror Universe and back, forward in time nine hundred years, and beyond the edge of the known universe; and spawned the highly successful spin-off Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
In March, Paramount+ announced the fifth season will be the USS Discovery's final mission. We've gathered all the intel on what it'll entail, who's on board, and when you can expect to buckle up and hold on as Michael Burnham and her crew let 'er fly one last time.
