Following the world première at the Tribeca Film Festival of The Public Image Is Rotten, shot by Yamit Shimonovitz, director Tabbert Fiiller went with me into the John Lydon style that took us to Comme des Garçons, Julian Schnabel and pajamas, Muriel Spark's The Public Image, John Waters at a PiL concert, and wildlife. Beastie Boys' Adam Horovitz, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea, Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, and Moby count PiL as an influence.

On October 15, 2015, a semi-truck slammed into 43-year-old Tammy Smith. The nurse and mother of 11 from Johnson, South Carolina, suffered a traumatic brain injury, broken ribs, a collapsed lung and was in a vegetative state until Thanksgiving. At age 21 actor/director Joe Raffa is already making quite a name for himself on the independent filmmaking scene. His first directorial effort (which he also wrote and co-starred in) - You'll Know My Name - has already been nabbed for distribution after a successful festival run in 2011.

He's currently in post-production on his follow-up project called Six Degrees of Hell, a supernatural thriller starring Corey Feldman, Nikki Bell, Jill Whelan, Brian Anthony Wilson and Raffa as well; and Dread Central recently caught up with the up-and-coming filmmaker to discuss his experiences making both You'll Know My Name and Six Degrees of Hell, why he won't ever star in a film he directs again and why the dark side of storytelling is so compelling to him.

Canada's Movie Central and The Movie Network today announced that they have given the greenlight to a four-hour mini-series adaptation of the long-running superhero 'The Phantom'. The series will be a co-production with Sci Fi Channel (soon to be renamed Syfy). It will debut on Movie Central and The Movie Network in spring 2010.

The Phantom was created by Lee Falk and first appeared in 1936 as a newspaper strip. Since then a character with that name has appeared in comic books by numerous publishers throughout the world. The Phantom has also starred in animated and live-action screen adaptations. The latter include a 1940s movie serial, a 1996 theatrical film and a 1961 TV pilot. Another feature film adaptation, The Phantom: Legacy, is also in the works.  Speaking to Moviehole, screenwriter Tim Boyle said that the movie is still at the scripting stage and he believes it will go into pre-production...

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Diversity Committee will present "Diversity in Animation: Beyond the Color Bars," a discussion of diversity from drawing board to distribution.

The event, taking place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, will be hosted by Nickelodeon and MTV Networks Kids & Family Group at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank.

Following an opening reception, the event will feature a panel discussion with a group of professionals including Brown Johnson, president of animation at Nickelodeon and Mtvn Kids & Family Group; Nancy Kanter, senior vp at Playhouse Disney Worldwide; Lisa Henson, co-ceo of the Jim Henson Co.; Ramsey Naito, vp longform development at Cartoon Network; Bruce Smith, president of Jambalaya Studios; Jorge R.
