Kylie Jenner’s 3 Instagram Posts Pay Beats Timothée Chalamet’s Earnings From Both Dune Movies Combined?
Image
Kylie Jenner & Timothée Chalamet Salary Revealed ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

When you think of Hollywood’s biggest couple right now, it’s hard not to land on Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner. One’s winning over sci-fi fans as Paul Atreides in Dune, and the other? She’s out here casually turning Instagram into a personal money machine. Believe it or not, the socialite reportedly made more money from just five social media posts than Chalamet did for both of his Dune movies combined.

Timothée Chalamet’s Dune Payday

Timothée Chalamet may be Hollywood’s golden boy, but his Dune paycheck isn’t quite as galactic as you might think. For Dune (2021), his first venture into the sandy sci-fi epic, the actor earned $2.2 million (per Parade). A fair amount, no doubt! But when you’re leading a blockbuster directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring alongside legends like Zendaya and Javier Bardem,...

Marvel's First Live-Action X-Men Attempt Went Horribly Wrong
Image
In November of 1994, Marvel Comics launched an X-Men title to feature an almost all-brand-new crop of teen characters called, collectively, Generation X. The team consisted of the established X-Woman Jubilee, joined by striking superpowered high-schoolers like Chamber, Husk, Skin, Mondo, M, and Synch. The team was overseen by Banshee and the White Queen, and their adventures aimed to be hipper and edgier -- in that MTV sort of way -- than those of their adult counterparts.

"Generation X" was a modest hit with comics readers, but not enough to stick around indefinitely. The series ended after three years and 75 issues. The characters, however, were perfect fodder for a "young 'n' hip" version of the X-Men, a fact that TV producers at Fox latched onto. In 1996, Fox executive producer Eric Blakeney, one of the writers of "21 Jump Street," felt he could take his previous show's "teens as undercover law enforcers" shtick,...

Sean McConnell Kills Old Habits on New Album ‘Skin’: ‘It’s the Demolition of Myself’
Image
It takes a lot to throw Sean McConnell for a loop. The veteran singer-songwriter is as comfortable writing and recording his own songs as he is collaborating or producing with some of the biggest artists in music. So when he set off on a European tour in 2023, he didn’t think much of it. He’d play a show in one city, then hop on a train to the next, just like he always does when he’s on an overseas run. But then, on those train rides between gigs,...

10 X-Men Characters Who Would Never Work In The MCU
Image
Marvel Studios currently has an X-Men reboot in development, which is set to introduce new versions of Marvel Comics' mutants into the MCU. Some mutants from Marvel Comics shouldn't be adapted into live-action, as they are too ridiculous, have pointless powers, or are controversial. Mutant characters such as Marrow, Skin, Adam-x, Stacy X and Wildside, among others, should be left out of the MCU.

Several mutants from Marvel Comics should be left out of the MCU when Marvel Studios finally introduces the X-Men. Back in 2019, shortly after Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox was finalized, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige teased the introduction of mutants into the MCU. This kicked off with the debuts of Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel and Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as well as an alternate Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine will see more mutants join the McU's main continuity,...

Having a vision by Anne-Katrin Titze
Skin
Skin Kligman director Ronni Thomas, executive producer Frank Szelwach, and star/screenwriter Matt ‘Ugly’ McGlade with Anne-Katrin Titze on screening in Nova Express at London’s Raindance Film Festival: “The program it’s in at Raindance is the perfect thing for it. If you’re doing a short film you should take chances.”

Ronni Thomas’s vital short, Skin Kligman, starring screenwriter Matt ‘Ugly’ McGlade with Jackie Martling as Kligman, executive produced by Frank Szelwach, is a wake-up call for awareness of what is and what is not “informed consent” and what is the real cost of your vanity. In a wide-ranging discussion we touched upon the puppets created by Geppetto Studios for the film; the experiments conducted behind the walls of the Holmesburg Prison; chiseling down the story, and the call for new voices by David Cronenberg’s longtime producer Jeremy Thomas. Strong opinions on Hollywood-type films such as...

X-Men Fanart Is a Mind-Blowing Tribute to the Hero Who Killed Ghost Rider
Image
A gorgeous new piece of X-Men fanart by Chris Ouellette celebrates the beloved Generation X mutant Chamber, whose claim to fame is obliterating the seemingly unbeatable Ghost Rider. While perhaps Marvel's most underrated mutant, Chamber is everything that makes the X-Men franchise great - a reluctant hero forced to contend with a power that irreversibly changes his life and sense of self. He's also an unsung powerhouse, as shown by his ability to overwhelm a Spirit of Vengeance.

Jonothan Starsmore, who goes by Jono, was introduced in 1994s Generation X #1 as a powerful mutant made out of purse psionic energy, whose abilities destroyed his lower face and chest when they manifested. Chris Ouellette (@cjolet) recently unveiled a lovingly illustrated digital art piece featuring Chamber looking as mysterious, powerful, and suave as ever, showing off his powerful psionic energy ability.

Sound of Double-o-Heaven: Music of James Bond Electrifies London’s Royal Albert Hall
Image
The tear-stricken faces peering up adoringly at James Bond producer Michael G. Wilson, seated in the royal box at Royal Albert Hall, during a lengthy standing ovation at “The Sound of 007” concert said it all: It’s not just movie music — the music, for this franchise at least, is the movie.

Tuesday’s charity event at London’s grandest venue preceded the Oct. 5 release of feature documentary “The Sound of 007” on Amazon’s Prime Video, and didn’t hesitate to remind both Bond novices and grizzled veterans that the franchise is virtually synonymous with some of cinema’s most iconic tracks.

The concert — part of a cavalcade of events marking the British spy’s 60th anniversary on screen — was produced and overseen by five-time Bond composer David Arnold, who was front and centre the entire evening, shredding with Hans Zimmer on an electric guitar or belting out late Soundgarden frontman...

Nicole Moudaber And Skin To Release Breed Ep At Special Showcase
These days, it’s difficult to have a conversation about techno without the name Nicole Moudaber coming up a time or two. The Nigerian selector and Mood Records founder has become so ubiquitous a part of the music landscape that even more mainstream dance music fans have familiarized themselves with her work – and her upcoming Ep will likely serve to expand her presence further.

Moudaber teamed up with Skunk Anansie frontwoman Skin on Breed, which promises an audiovisual spectacle for the senses. Where her last Ep, Somewhere in Our Minds, saw an exploration of funkier elements, her upcoming effort expands on her typical dark, driving sound by marrying it with subversive imagery as can be seen in the above video for “You Like This.”

The album release itself will be partly a nod to one of the techno scene’s dearly departed. The show will be dedicated to one of Moudaber’s own mentors,...

The Voice UK: Autumn, Mitch - Who had the best audition?
Golly, they left that to the last minute, didn't they? The coaches on The Voice UK have now completed their teams after the last episode of blind auditions - but for a while we weren't sure if they'd manage it, as Sir Tom and will.i.am left it to the final two acts. Talk about cutting it fine.

We don't actually know how they found time to turn for the six final acts in between all the confetti cannon hiding (will.i.am being sheepish is the best), dancing and singing to S Club's 'Reach', and general Ricky Wilson silliness (including, er, a striptease), but they did! Read on as we assess those lucky six (and the poor eight who didn't make it...)

1. Mitch Miller

Song: 'Fancy' - Iggy Azalea

Team: Team Rita

Notebook's 7th Writers Poll: Fantasy Double Features of 2014
How would you program this year's newest, most interesting films into double features with movies of the past you saw in 2014?

Looking back over the year at what films moved and impressed us, it is clear that watching old films is a crucial part of making new films meaningful. Thus, the annual tradition of our end of year poll, which calls upon our writers to pick both a new and an old film: they were challenged to choose a new film they saw in 2014—in theatres or at a festival—and creatively pair it with an old film they also saw in 2014 to create a unique double feature.

All the contributors were given the option to write some text explaining their 2014 fantasy double feature. What's more, each writer was given the option to list more pairings, with or without explanation, as further imaginative film programming we'd be lucky to catch...

A week or so ago in a Brighton basement, Den of Geek attended a fun evening organised by the - aptly named, in this instance - arts and entertainment group, Space.

A regular Brighton-based event, Space regularly welcomes luminaries from the creative world to talk to its intimate group. Past guests have been from the world of film and television (Mark Gatiss, Toby Whithouse, Nicholas Roeg, David Morrissey, The Dark Knight trilogy and Inception visual effects artist Paul Franklin, Star Wars, Superman and Raiders of the Lost Ark production designer Norman Reynolds), literature (Ian Rankin), and music (William Orbit, Skunk Anansie’s Skin, Goldie).

There are two Q&As per event, and opportunities to ask questions in an informal, friendly and geeky atmosphere, making the nights well worth the £8 advance ticket price.

My favourite Hitchcock: North by Northwest
Cary Grant, Saul Bass's titles, Bernard Hermann's score, that all-conquering crop-dusting scene. Why is it that Hitchcock's biggest crowd-pleaser makes critics sniffy?

Life, most of the time, is matter of routine. We get up, go to work, pass the day as we have hundreds like it before. But this predictability is an illusion, because at any moment, the whole reassuring framework could collapse. An accident, an incredible stroke of luck, a crime: and suddenly everything has changed.

Roger Thornhill's life turns on a dime in the bar of the Plaza Hotel on 59th street, at the moment he calls over the bellboy. He's an advertising executive – one of the original Mad Men – whose anxieties centre around keeping his women sweet (with gifts dispatched by an obliging secretary), his mother happy and the Skin Glow account ticking over. But that bellboy was looking for a certain George Caplan,...

Movies Edgar Wright has Never Seen - Help him decide what to watch on the big screen
Below you will find a list of movie that Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright has never seen. Not long ago Wright went out and asked his friends and fans to recommend some movies they thought he may have missed over the last thirty years of his life. He got recommendations from Quentin Tarantino, Daniel Waters, Bill Hader, John Landis, Guillermo Del Toro, Joe Dante, Judd Apatow, Joss Whedon, Greg Mottola, Schwartzman, Doug Benson, Rian Johnson, Larry Karaszeski, Josh Olson, Harry Knowles and hundreds of fans on this blog.

From these recommendations, Wright created a master list of recommended films that were frequently mentioned. The director now wants the fans to choose which of the films on the list he should watch on the big screen.

Wright is holding a film event at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles called Films Edgar Has Never Seen.

Edgar Wright Has Never Seen These Movies, Pair Them Up For Four Nights In Los Angeles
Bill Hader at an event for Paul (2011)
Edgar Wright's latest epic project [1] has him partnering with Quentin Tarantino, Judd Apatow, Joss Whedon, Bill Hader, Guillermo Del Toro, Joe Dante, Greg Mottola, Harry Knowles, Rian Johnson and, probably, several of you. Like all of us, Wright has a bunch of classic and cult films he's never seen. Unlike all of us, he has the means to see them for the first time on the big screen and will do just that in December [2] at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles during Films Edgar Has Never Seen. The director of Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World asked both his famous friends (some of which are listed above) and fans to send in their personal must see lists and, from those titles, Wright came up with one mega list from which he'll pick a few movies to watch December 9-16. After the jump check...
