Michael Taverna’s Apartment 1303 3D has been acquired by Gravitas Ventures. The 3D horror film, which stars Mischa Barton, Rebecca De Mornay and Julianne Michelle, comes out on VOD on June 17th and will be released in theaters in limited fashion on July 25th. The film is a remake of a Japanese film, based on a Japanese novel by Kei Oishi. But then again, the press release does a better job explaining the film than I do:

What seems like a standard commercial flight goes horrifically wrong when a few scientists fail to keep their experiment contained. The fact that said experiment is a living person who’s been intentionally infected with a modified version of the Malaria virus should indicate where this story is headed (if the goofy film title didn’t already lead you down the proper path). Under guise of a nasty thunderstorm and the subsequent turbulence, the genetically altered captive is freed from confinement. When a long lost extra from Wolfgang Peterson’s Outbreak pumps the escapee full of lead, all hell officially breaks loose.

Kaufman chairs indie group
Troma Entertainment's Lloyd Kaufman was elected to a two-year term as chairman of the Independent Film & Television Alliance during the trade association's annual members meeting Thursday.
He replaces Michael Ryan, who has held the post for four years. An executive committee member, Ryan was elected vice chairman, while Paul Hertzberg was elected vice chairman/secretary.
IFTA president and CEO Jean Prewitt said Kaufman "is a dynamic leader whose energy, creativity and global relationships will help further lead IFTA in today's increasingly challenging environment."
Executive committee members remaining in their current roles include Ehud Bleiberg, chairman of the export alliance; Mark Damon, general vice chairman; Lewis Horwitz, vice chairman/finance.
The 20-member IFTA board of directors also elected new members Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard, Stephanie Denton, Nicole Mackey, Almira Malyshev, Charlotte Mickie, Barbara Mudge and Nestor Nieves. Re-elected to two year terms were Brad Kembel, Albert Lee and Andrew Stevens.
Dan March, Steven Paul and David Shoshan will serve as alternates to the IFTA board.
