Biography

Jake Shiptenko was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Syracuse University where he majored in Directing and Writing. He made a short film his sophomore year that premiered in small tier film festivals. That same year, he applied to do a semester abroad at the FAMU film school in Prague. There, he continued his studies and was taught how to shoot on 35mm film. For his senior thesis, he wrote and directed a feature-length film called "The Plymouth Period" which premiered at the Orlando Film Festival and won Best Film at the Georgia Film Festival. Recently, he was hired by the musical artist Z by Z to direct his first music video for the song "Searching". He is now living in Brooklyn, NY where he continues to improve his craft.
