Aurora Jimenez is a first-generation Chicana writer/director. With a degree in film production from Cerritos College (AA), her fields of interest are in narrative storytelling. Having lived in both the US and Mexico City during her childhood, as well as changing socioeconomic status at a young age, keeps the core themes of her stories between two worlds. Her debut short film Lessons From My Mother has screened and been nominated at multiple well-respected festivals. She is an Hola Mexico Tomorrow's Filmmakers Today alumni (2021), overseen by Warner Media, UNAM and the HFPA, a NALIP Emerging Content Creator's Scholarship recipient and has been mentored by Jeff Valdez, the showrunner and creator of The Brothers Garcia on Nickelodeon and The Garcias on HBO Max. Her vision for future work is to create grounded, feel-good content featuring people that look like her and her peers. As a brown-skinned Latina, she aims to challenge colorism within her works. Her newest short film subURB was a NALIP Latino Lens: Narrative Short Film Incubator for WOC finalist 2022-2023 cycle.
