Now, director Masaki Watanabe is offering insight into why some of these challenges arose during production.

Demon Slayer Demolishes Bleach With New Record, Proving Why Tanjiro Is the Goat
Image
Demon Slayer has been setting some impressive records of late, and the latest manga sales reports from Shonen Jump are keeping that streak going. Now, Demon Slayer has officially blown Bleach out of the water, securing it a spot as the fourth-most top-selling manga of all time.

Demon Slayer's latest sales rankings place the hit series at 220,000,000 volumes sold, surpassing Bleach and several other series in the process. What's impressive about this is that Demon Slayer's manga only began in 2016, while many of the series it surpassed were long-runners from years ago, such as Slam Dunk and Kochikame.

Next Fourth Wing Book Release Rumor Shut Down By Rebecca Yarros: "I Love You All, But No"
Image
Just a few months after Onyx Storm's release, the anticipation for the next Fourth Wingbook is already high — so much so that a Goodreads page for The Empyrean book 4 has already surfaced. With confirmation that there will be two more installments in Rebecca Yarros' beloved romantasy series, that isn't surprising on its own.

However, the Goodreads page reportedly listed the expected publication date for the next Fourth Wing book as January 1, 2026 — something the platform appears to have corrected. Yarros took to Instagram to clarify in a now-deleted story that Onyx Storm's sequel will not be out in that timeframe, writing over a screenshot of the Goodreads page:

"Let me put this rumor to rest. I love you all, but no. That release date is impossible."

This isn't much of a surprise for anyone who has been following Yarros, as the author has been vocal about taking her time with the fourth Empyrean book.

TurtleMe, the creator of The Beginning After the End, has spoken about the anime controversy after the end of its first season, teasing the future for the franchise. The Beginning After the End was a widely criticized anime due to its animation quality, which sparked backlash against Studio A-Cat and the author among sections of the franchise’s fanbase who believe the original story wasn’t done justice.

The Biggest Anime of 2025 Is Topping Netflix's Charts With a Surprising Streak

Anime fans knew Dandadan had potential, but few expected it to explode this quickly. Since the release of its second season, the supernatural action-romance has dominated Netflix’s global streaming charts, making an impression that even mainstream audiences cannot ignore. Its mix of chaotic energy, endearing characters, and bold animation has clearly struck a nerve.

While other anime often take weeks to build momentum, Dandadan rocketed into Netflix's Global Top 10 and stayed there for four consecutive days and counting, according to @FlixPatrol on X. That kind of consistency is rare, even for household names like Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen. Something about this title is hitting just right in 2025.

Brandon Sanderson's Mistbornfranchise will jump forward in time in Era 3, and the author recently revealed the biggest challenge to writing his upcoming Ghostbloods series. These will make up his Ghostbloods series, and Sanderson has already confirmed another time jump for Era 3. The upcoming story will pick up around 50 years after the Wax & Wayne series. This means technological advancements are on the horizon for Sanderson's saga. And in an interview with WinterIsComing, the author admitted that the looming sci-fi elements pose the "biggest challenge" for Era 3. While some sci-fi jargon is probably inevitable, Sanderson doesn't...

Star Wars Fans Spot A Fantastic Deep Cut George Lucas Easter Egg In Andor Season 2
Image
Star Wars fans have spotted a delightful deep-cut George Lucas Easter egg in the Andor season 2 finale. The second season of Andor was very different to the first, simply because it deals with a part of the timeline that's much more well-established. That naturally meant we had a lot more Star Wars Easter eggs and references, with direct setup for Rogue One at the end of Andor.

As noted on the Star Wars: Rogue One and Andor Fan Page, fans have spotted one particularly deep-cut Easter egg. Dedra Meero winds up held in detention by the Isb after she has uncovered the Death Star's existence, and it's a deliberate riff on a scene from George Lucas' Thx 1138.

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Director Explains Post-Credits Cameos' Roles In Sonic 4
Image
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler has explained the film's post-credit cameos and what their roles are going to be during Sonic the Hedgehog 4. The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 post-credits scene featured Sonic (Ben Schwartz) getting attacked by an army of Metal Sonics, sporting the characters' classic design from the games. As he's cornered, Amy Rose arrives donned in a brown hood, destroying the robotic army with her Piko Piko Hammer. This sets the stage for what the next movie's story will be, pulling elements from the games as a new story unfolds.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Fowler revealed conversations are ongoing about what Amy and Metal Sonic's roles are going to be after their debuts in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The director explained that, while he's listening to fan discussion about who should voice the characters and where the story will go, much of it is still in the developmental stage.

Mad Max's Next Movie Must Bring Back The Genius 44-Year-Old Villain Twist We Never Got
Image
The Mad Max franchise nearly had a brilliant villain twist 44 years ago, and its next movie needs to finally do it properly. The next Mad Max movie, Mad Max: The Wasteland, had a very bumpy development. Tom Hardy, who played Max Rockatansky in Mad Max: Fury Road, has given both discouraging and hopeful quotes about the film at different times, despite the fact that Hardy may be recast for The Wasteland. The franchise has also had some trouble due to Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga's low box office earnings, so it's not clear if the series will continue at all.

If The Wasteland ever does get off the ground, though, it already has a perfect plot twist that's been waiting for over four decades to be used. There have been plenty of great villains in Mad Max over the years, and it's almost hard to imagine them getting any better.

Sony Has Cancelled Even More Live Service Games, Including One Fans May Be Upset About

Sony has confirmed the cancelation of two previously unannounced live-service PlayStation games. This follows a round of canceled live-service games for the PlayStation 5, and it was also confirmed that one of these live-service games was a God of War spinoff.

As spotted by Polygon, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier first reported that Sony was canceling live-service games from in-house developers Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. Neither studio had announced what live-service game they were working on and hadn't put a release on the horizon. In a post on Bluesky, Schreier added that Bluepoint Games was tasked with working on a live-service game for one of PlayStation's most important franchises.

Breaking: PlayStation has canceled two more live-service games, from subsidiaries Bend and Bluepoint, Bloomberg has learned. Fans have long wondered what Bluepoint has been working on for the last couple of years. I can report it was a live-service God of War game.

The Lion King's Mufasa Really Should Have Done One Thing The Same As His Source Material Character
Image
Since the original Disney movie was released in 1994, The Lion King has become a much bigger franchise, with two modern CGI adaptations. It is a well-known fact that The Lion King is based on the story of Hamlet - the young son of a king goes on a journey of self-discovery after his father is murdered by his power-hungry uncle. Naturally, there are plenty of similarities between Hamlet and The Lion King, some of which can also be found in the sequels and even Mufasa: The Lion King.

The Lion King to the Oscars, with both the 1994 original and the 2019 remake nominated for Academy Awards. Despite the success and cultural impact of the 1994 film, there are a few harsh realities when rewatching The Lion King. Although The Lion King was obviously never meant to be a faithful adaptation of the William Shakespeare play Hamlet, as the movie was merely inspired by the famous tragedy,...

Is Dracula In Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2?
Image
The following contains spoilers for Castlevania: Nocturne season 2, now streaming on NetflixCastlevania: Nocturne brings back Alucard in an important role, raising the possibility that the show could also bring back Dracula. Set a few centuries after the events of Castlevania, Castlevania: Nocturne centers on a new generation of the Belmont family being tasked with facing down a vampire scourge. The shows share a lot of elements beyond the central family line, but the passage of years in the Castlevania timeline means very few characters could easily appear between the two shows.

The exception to the rule is Alucard, the half-vampire son of Dracula. One of the main heroes of Castlevania, Alucard returned in the ending of Castlevania: Nocturne season 1 to help save the heroes from almost certain death. Aucard plays a major role in the show's second season, helping contribute in the fight against the vampire messiah. However, Dracula is...

Jackie Chan's Best Movies From The Past 15 Years Prove He's So Much More Than A Martial Arts Actor
Image
Jackie Chan's best movies from the past 15 years demonstrate a surprising trend that proves he is so much more than a (legendary) martial arts actor. Most prominently known for his crazy martial arts stunts, Jackie Chan has featured in over 150 domestic and international movies in his 60-year career, breaking into Hollywood with titles such as Rush Hour and Rumble in the Bronx. However, Jackie Chan's recent movies show a different side of the famous actor and stuntman, as he has made a significant move into animation, starring as a voice actor in numerous roles.

From Mulan to the Kung Fu Panda movies, Chan has had a successful run in the animated movie medium, partly due to his popularity, yet mostly due to his incredible wit. Chan excels in action-comedy roles, having been an actor and stunt performer in the genre for the majority of his career, and this translates to his animated films.

On Call's Elliot Wolf & Tim Walsh Are "Kicking Ideas Around" For Dick Wolf Universe Crossovers
Image
Elliot Wolf and Tim Walsh have teamed up for On Call. Wolf finds himself with the full reins on a live-action program for the first time in his career, as his prior work was exclusively in the serialized podcast world. Producing televised crime dramas is in Wolf's DNA, as his father, Television Academy Hall of Famer Dick Wolf, is responsible for fronting the likes of Law & Order and the various Chicago shows. Walsh worked with Wolf's father on Chicago P.D., having produced 69 episodes of the series from 2014 until 2017.

On Call embodies the spirit of the Dick Wolf projects of yesteryear but makes a grand effort to carve out its own niche. The Prime Video series follows Officer Harmon (Troian Bellisario), a jaded veteran cop paired with rookie policeman Officer Diaz (Brandon Larracuente) to patrol the streets of Long Beach, California.

Karate Kid: Legends Must Avoid A Tiresome Karate Kid Trope That Not Even Cobra Kai Could Escape
Image
After Cobra Kai continued a tiresome franchise trend, Karate Kid: Legends will be looking to break new ground. The Karate Kid reboot is incredibly exciting for several reasons, most notably the film's main characters. Karate Kid: Legends' cast will unite Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan as two pillars of the live-action franchise come together to tell a new story in the universe after the ending of Cobra Kai in February 2025.

If the trailer for Karate Kid: Legends was anything to go by, it seems as though the upcoming movie will be very different from what has come before it. Gone is the self-aware, referential humor of the Cobra Kai TV show, instead replaced by a grounded, admittedly mature tone. The timeline of Karate Kid: Legends will remove it from Cobra Kai's overall story for the most part, but as a part of the same franchise, both will likely share several trends.

All Of Us Are Dead Season 2’s Story Tease Is Great News For The Zombie K-Drama After Season 1’s Success
Image
All of Us Are Dead season 2 is expected to be a “survival period for zombies” according to one of the show’s creators, a surprising but exciting approach for the zombie K-drama’s future. Shortly after the release of season 1, Lee Jae-kyoo told HypeBeast Kr (via What’s On Netflix) that All of Us Are Dead 2 was going to flip season 1’s premise. Rather than a survival period for humans, All of Us Are Dead would now be about the zombies trying to survive. The director was most likely referring to hambies like Nam-ra having to survive in Hyosan.

Assuming this is indeed the storyline All of Us Are Dead season 2 will follow, the Netflix original K-drama is in a good position to reinvent itself after an incredibly successful first season. Three years have passed since the zombie K-drama came out, and with season 2 filming in 2025, All of Us Are Dead...
