Shazam! Fury of the Gods stars Grace Caroline Currey and D. J. Cotrona recently recalled how challenging it was going to the bathroom while they were wearing their superhero costumes.

Curry and Cotrona, who played Mary Marvel and Pedro Peña, respectively, reflected on the difficult process of taking a comfort break while filming the Shazam! sequel during a panel appearance at Florida Supercon. "You need a team of seven to 12 people to go to the bathroom at all times," Cotrona said. "I did start to be able to do it on my own. And it was so exciting! It was like, I'm going to the bathroom! All on my own," Currey added, with Cotrona chiming in that he also managed a similar feat during production on Fury of the Gods, quipping that he "felt like a real boy" after going to the toilet unaided.

DC will need to crank the PR machine into overdrive if they want Shazam! Fury of the Gods to perform heroically at the box office. According to the first round of projections, New Line Cinema‘s superhero sequel is tracking for a low-end domestic debut of $35 million to $40 million. Meanwhile, optimistic analysts think the film will bank as much as the first film, which pulled around $53.5 million in North America.

It’s worth noting the $35 million prediction comes from Nrg, Hollywood’s leading research firm. They know a thing or two about reading tea leaves for blockbuster debuts. Still, they need to be corrected from time to time. There’s a chance Shazam! Fury of the Gods will overperform, but I’m not holding my breath.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg explained why Billy Batson's superhero family has a silly name. Released in 2019, the original Shazam! film saw Batson (Asher Angel) granted special powers by the last remaining to become Shazam (Zachary Levi), an older super-powered version of Batson. Outmatched by Dr. Thaddeus Silva (Mark Strong) and the Seven Deadly Sins, Batson transferred his power to his adoptive family and transformed them into a superhero team.

In a recent interview with Total Film, Sandberg admitted that Batson's superhero family has a silly name in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The director explained that family is a major thematic focus of the upcoming film and that their hometown has given the sibling team the name Philly Fiascos due to their bumbling crime-fighting ways. The trailer appeared to a hyped up crowd during Warner Bros. Pictures’ theatrical panel in Hall H at the San Diego Comic Con 2022. Zachary Levi, Director David F. Sandberg, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer and Lucy Liu attended the panel to discuss the sequel set to open in theaters internationally beginning 15 December 2022 and in North America on December 21, 2022.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods brought the thunder to Hall H Saturday, with star Zachary Levi trotting out the first trailer from the film.

“I missed you guys so dang much, I can’t even tell you,” said Levi to an energized Hall H, taking in the first panel of the day, after a Shazam! sizzle reel showed.

During the panel, some plot details were revealed, including that there will be a time jump between the first movie and the sequel. The panel also teased villains Daughters of Atlas, led by franchise newcomer Helen Mirren. Fellow Shazam! newcomer Rachel Zegler is playing Antaeus with Lucy Liu playing Calypso.

“Zach, darling, sweetheart, I had such a marvelous time kicking the shit out of you,” Mirren quipped to Levi.

After a few short delays, Shazam! Fury of the Gods has wrapped shooting, but it's still a long way to go before the superhero feature debuts on the big screen. Recently, director David F. Sandberg shared an Instagram post revealing that the cast and crew was "almost done" filming on day 71 of production. In a new photo revealing that shooting is officially wrapped, Sandberg stands in a destroyed bedroom with the caption reading, "That's a wrap! Now sleep..."

It’s rare to find a leaked trailer description that doesn’t come across as obvious fan fiction, but since SuperBroMovies has a respectable track record when it comes to superhero cinema intel, there’s reason to believe that this new summary of the next Shazam! preview just might be legit.

A few days ago, Sbm’s Daniel Richtman reported that the second proper trailer for Billy Batson’s big screen debut will be dropping on January 19th, and while it’s still a couple of weeks before we get some verification on the claim, Richtman has now gone as far as to break down the content of the preview, which contains a surprising number of references to a certain pair of cape-wearing Justice Leaguers.

Shazam! is on course to serve as the biggest contradiction yet to the old stereotype that Dceu movies are dark and moody, with the film’s first trailer suggesting a light and playful tone, along with a very child-heavy cast.

Like Bruce Wayne, the young Billy Batson is an orphan, but he’s hardly the brooding billionaire loner type, with the character seen posing with his foster family in a photo recently shared to Reddit.
